Can't say that even that description rings a bell with me. I think the most memorable posters, to me at anyrate, were p.s.rain, Primordium, Will Cooper, Lenzap and of course, Rknighton.

Perhaps I misunderstand whom you are referring to as "right wing Alinsky imitators". Would you clarify that for me? Thanks.

"Awwww, you remember me. Shucks. It was like college, wasn't it? And now we know who is following Saul Alinksy's rules for radicals, and who is not. "

The two above "journalists" who ascribe the right wing as in last week's meeting on the Washington Mall, or the prior town-halls with your congressman,as having adapted the Alinsky method.

I don't know how long Noah Cohen has been writing for the nytimes.com?
And I was sleepy enough when reading the second article that I would have sworn it was Newt Gingrich; the posts in response are those that were there this morning.

Bosox,

It was: http://www.amazon.com/Mars-Away-Shelter-P-Rain/dp/0595092942/ref=sr_1_25?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1253535332&sr=1-25

He had sent me a copy which I proofed for him. The book was quite good. Don't know what happened to him though. Last I heard he was doing some sort of scientific research for the government.

Madupont,

I must say, I find it quite ironic that the NYT is attempting to ascribe the peaceful 9/12 demonstration of hundreds of thousands of concerned American citizens and other Tea Parties as employing Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals coming on the heels of Glenn Beck demonstrating on his show exactly how the Obama administration and dethroned Green Jobs Czar Van Jones are the ones using that playbook: http://www.freedomslighthouse.com/2009/08/glenn-beck-discusses-two-of-saul.html

Mars is Away From Shelter
by P. Rain

“The year is 2051. Every probe sent to reconnoiter up close of Candor Canyon, Mars has failed. Accidents? NASA Director, Ken Hsu, thinks not. Suspecting a sinister hand, he surreptitiously re-directs the latest probe sent to Mars from its destined mission plan, toward Candor where it finds an anomaly, an ancient structure not wrought by natural random processes. DoD immediately steps in to investigate, much to the chagrin of President Diane Keynes, who worries not only about the ever-increasing influence DoD exerts over space exploration, but also fears any semblance of catastrophe will sink her re-election bid in the coming year. Blinded by ambition, and her hatred for Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Henry Santos, she is unaware of an odious danger much closer to her than a dead alien ruin on Mars, much more present and quite alive, threatening her administration, her sanity, and her life. Though tough, strong willed, and astute, she needs help. Will she get it before it's too late? At risk is more than her singular life. All humanity on Earth could suffer should she fail.”

pugetopolis,

I always wondered if you were a reincarnation of RK. Are you? If you are, I am glad to see you are still writing, hope you are well, and I'll be gone before someone drops a house on me.

My son rides the subway everyday too.   Pharma in the water strikes me as more of a Midwest scenario.   Wink

Yeah, well ever since Hilary and Chuckie Cheese gave the terrorists all of the schematics for our dams, reservoirs, etc, etc, I see terrorists more as a probability than the Feds.

The Feds just seem to be dumping Kool Aid into the water.  Wink

Louche Limerick

There once was an old kunt from Timbuktu
Suddenly she didn’t know what to do—
One day her kunt fell off into the mud
With a simply awful squishy ka-thud!!!

Is that writer "P. Rain" -- as in Purple Rain??  The sci-fi novel looks interesting.  Kim Stanley Robinson has a good Mars trilogy, if you are into the whole Mars thing.
