KG likely out of the post-season.
http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/celtics/extras/celtics_blog/2009/04/rivers_garnett.html
Coach Doc Rivers said this morning that Garnett, who injured his knee Feb. 19 at Utah and has been in limbo since, will miss the second-seeded Celtics' first-round series against the Bulls, and that it is unlikely he would be available to play at all in the postseason, which begins Saturday
The C's can probably get by the Bulls and maybe they get by the Magic, but with no KG they ain't going no further.
#18 will have to wait.

In his breakdown, Rosen says: Lewis is a professional point-maker with size, quickness and cunning. Andre Iguodala cannot contain him without getting substantial defensive help.
Since Turkoglu is a 3-point-shooting, tricky-driving, excellent-passing point-forward, he presents an unusual challenge and a difficult cover for Thaddeus Young. Yeah. So wouldn't it make much more sense to have Iggy cover Turk and Young (+ Speights) stick to Rashard. Iggy could bother Turk's dribble and deny him the ball at times. Young and Speights can get a hand up and in Lewis's face. =========================== I'm impressed that Portland tied SA and Denver for the 2nd best record out West. And the Rockets lost their last game to Dallas in order to sink to 5th and go on the road. Artest was just chucking ugly shots in the Mavs loss. Too bad Portland will meet LA if they win in the 1st round. The easier route to the finals -- SA-NO winner plays Denver-Dallas. 6th seed might be a better place than 4th to go far, though you always want the home court ad. I'm picking Miami to upset the Hawks. Portland to beat the Rocks (with two inexperienced points, and an erratic Artest. Though the combo of Battier and Artest could take Roy out of his game). Orlando looks ripe to be had, but the '6ers have too many flaws as well as inexperience.

Well, Yao sure showed up to play. 24 first half points. Houston just playing with more intensity. Roy leaving it out there, but who else for the Blazers. Aldridge has to establish his jumper, make Scola guard him from 16 feet or so. Can drive or shoot from the high post. Down low, Scola is pretty crafty and frustrating LMA.

Here's my Wilson Chandler challenge from last month, if anyone wants to play.
Here's a list of the other 29 starting SF's in the league: a) which tier is Chandler in now? b) where will he slot in over the next few years?
Tier 1. LBJ, Pierce, Melo, Granger, Butler; Tier 2. Turk, Prince, Odom, Wallace, Durant; Tier 3. Artest, Josh Smith, Marion, RJ, Gay; Tier 4. Deng, Josh Howard, Thornton, Thad Young, Stephen Jackson; Tier 5. AK47, Outlaw, Hill, Peja, Nocioni; Tier 6. Yi, Moon, Finley, Mike Miller;
Back-up SF's: Azubuike, Battier, Maggette, Garcia, Ariza, Barnes, Bowen, Harpring, Simmons, Julian Wright Batum, Gallo
...and I might be missing some combo Forwards and Wings. Is Beasley an SF? Jeff Green had been playing SF. Ronnie Brewer is a combo wing, etc. ===============================================
And another way to look at it. Here are the Eastern Conference starting SF's: LeBronski Beat, Pierce, Granger, Butler, Turk, Prince, Wallace, Marion, RJ, Josh Smith, Deng, Thad Young, Chandler, Moon and Simmons/Yi.

With Leon Powe out for the playoffs the Celtics are done.No KG was bad enough but now the best man off the bench is gone as well.

Sort of amazed that the refs didn't call a flagrant on Rondo. But I can understand something like that getting missed in the heat of the moment.
What I can't understand is the league's sanctioning of it after seeing the cold hard facts of the film.

Regulation clock winding down Celts with the lead and Tony Allen shoots not once but twice with the game in balance and misses both. That he was allowed to have the ball once is bad enough but doing it twice is insanity. The Celts have now given two games away in Chic they should have won.

Good game, but a really great series
Now for a little more magic.
Ben Gordon's 3 was the longest 3-pointer ever, he shoots it in the 1st quarter and scores it with 5 minutes left in the game.

Nice to see that while Baseball punishes anyone the NBA is still spineless when it comes to doing anything to "Superstars" like Kobe.Suspend the little guys for a game but hands off the Rapist.

hard to see how kobe's elbow vs. using illicit drugs to enhance performance can be compared at all as grounds for suspension.
to say baseball punishes everyone is even more hilarious.
lastly, calling him a rapist seems like a cheap attempt to defame his character and irrelevant to the point of discussion.

No one needs to defame Kobe's character. He does a fine job of that himself.
