And to clarify the clues....

DL's mother was a Playboy centerfold, Deborah Harry was a Playboy bunny.
The musical was Streets of Fire.
DL was on the TIME cover at about 14 (for the flick A Little Romance.)
Semi-recent movies made include Must Love Dogs and Under the Tuscan Sun.
Married to Josh Brolin.
Was in The Outsiders, Rumble Fish, The Cotton Club, and (shudder) Jack, all FFC films.

Who was originally cast for the lead role (eventually went to squish Renee Zellweger) in Bridget Jones's Diary?

   Hint:
And -- like Renee Z. -- this actress also gained a considerable amount (40 lbs.!) of weight for one of her best-known roles...

Sorry, harrie. Don't mean to fluster you, but I know what I know and I don't what I don't. My brain tends to fall asleep periodically (first concussion at age 4) and can even get burdened with trivialities. BTW, my Debbie Harry guess was a continuation of the D.H. thread if you didn't already know that.

Now I gotta think of chubby roles. Oooh, I may need a nap.

(smile)

I don't usually dream of chubby women, but ya never know.

I was gonna guess Nicole Kidman but can't think of any role she may have pudged up for.

No sorry needed, no flustering here.  Just figured I should back up all that stuff I put out there.

Cate Blanchett come to mind Australia-wise, but I don't think she ever played a pleasingly plump role.

This ( yes, Australian) actress was also romantically involved with one of her co-stars in a popular glam movie...

Fairly certain that was a give-away...!

Toni Collette?  (Though I must confess I don't get the "glam" clue.)

Mamma Mia !  Harrie!

Well, the movie Velvet Goldmine is frequently referred to as "pop glam".  Guess you have to actually see it to really get that.

Also, Toni Collette  "lost" out to Renee for/in Chicago.  Evidently she wasn't considered known enough at the time.

Collette not getting to play Bridget was due to a prior Broadway commitment.

It's the same old Laura Linney, then in Kinsey, eating donuts, now in John Adams eating with Frenchmen.
