While the article does sound pretty damning, Tedman raises some legitimate questions in the comments that followed. The comments are often enlightening (as well as funny and stupid, sometimes). I'd go on but don't want to beat this into the ground. Check out Boukman Eksperyans.
Okay. It's kind of like fraud.....
Very like fraud.
Yeah, well, given my propensity for overstatement, thought I'd ease up on the gas pedal on this one.

I have a niece that works for the Red Cross, she's "crazy busy" 'long about now. Have never heard anyone question its cred. but who knows. I usu. check charitynavigator.org when curious about such matters, though I know there are other similar sites.
Some years back there was a website called choosetheblue.org that let you check out corporations before doing bus. with/shopping, etc. Nowadays that just takes you to http://www.choosetheblue.com/main.php
Sigh. Enough to give one the blues...

I use this website for reference - but it usually comes down to a leap of faith when you make any contribution, in my experience anyway. Charity Navigator.org

A simple and effective way to give is to go to a retailer that is an official American Red Cross donation site -- you can add your donation to your purchases at the following stores (I donated at Lowe's) --
A.C. Moore Arts & Crafts all stores through February 14 Albertsons stores in AR, AZ, CO, FL, LA, NM, and TX Bank of America all locations Costco all locations Harris Bank all locations Lowe’s Home Improvement Centers Publix all stores Rite Aid all stores Safeway all stores Sovereign Bank all locations Starbucks Coffee Company all locations Sterlings Savings Bank all locations Walgreens all stores Walmart some Florida stores through Sunday, January 24

We were listening to Vladimir Vysotsky, Boris Grebenshikov and other Russian folk and pop musicians last night,
http://www.grebenshikovconcert.com/
as my wife and her friends took a little trip down memory lane.

I'm not saying that my daughter, who writes songs (lyrics and music) is the next Boris Grebenshikov (that would just be silly), but this quote of his...
Music is an ocean. I just venture into the ocean and follow the waves.
....was precisely how Emma described her process to me. I will ask her if she's heard of him. She seems to have heard of, and heard, everyone.

Grebenshikov is relatively well known. Dave Stewart produced his first US album, Radio Silence, and he has worked with numerous artists around the world,

Your daughter probably has indeed heard of him. However, I have to say that Radio Silence was not his best effort.

I'd say that he is fairly eclectic in choice of instrumentation for his compositions and other than that he is not Theodore Bikel; but, it's a different era and Grebenshikov's,"Russian Drinking Song" probably allows for lots of identification among all age groups.

Believe it or not, this is about music not movies. It was necessary to have musicians do the lead, and they alternate, for this production. (and, I still have not seen "Cadillac Records" speaking of movies).

I found the Grammy's to be a huge disappointment because I thought it was about songs that were good.

There must be a lot of money to be made on European and South American tours if Aerosmith is seriously considering the replacement of Steve Tyler as their frontman. Get while the getting is good, I guess, rather than wait until Tyler finishes rehab,
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/us_aerosmith
But, Billy Idol as the new voice of Aerosmith? I don't think so.

If "Aerosmith would seriously consider...," come on...that means that you are seriously considering Aerosmith, oh, nevermind.
The post you write about Aerosmith was snorted in the '80's, anyway, along with a learjet, so don't seriously consider what happens now: because your post is like the baby laxative that cut one hit of what snorted Aerosmith's learjet, so, should they go with Billy Idol?? Because Steven Tyler is the only one who saved his money? I would seriously seriously consider that or whatever else if I were them...because Steven Tyler didn't SNORT HIS LEARJET. Everbody else should consider getting fronted by Earkle.
