A recent musical trend rooted in dancehall tradition...  producers taking disparate musical acts, and digitally laying them together.

Take the seminal WU-Tang Clan track, remove the instruments, add vocals to Fugazi instrumental.

Don't know if this appeals to anyone else here, but I just learned a Youtube trick.

One of the things I don't like about youtube is you might only be looking for a very specific part of a clip, perhaps to share with others.  But the clip is too long and what you care about is in the middle somewhere.  So say you like a youtube video and you want to share the URL, but there's some stuff in the beginning of the vid that you want others to skip.  You can take the URL and tack on the end of it some code to indicate where the vid should start playing from.

So to illustrate:
I took this URL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8edc63QEGk8
I want to start it 1 minutes and 7 seconds into it
So I tack on #t=01m07s to the end of the URL

You like a youtube and want to save it as an mp3 to listen to on itunes, your mp3 player or wherever:

You can use a site like this one which lets you rip vids to mp3s http://www.youtube-mp3.org/

The forum handle that sounds like phlegm when you try to say it aloud!

Welcome.  We are currently doing a roundtable on the relative merits of Wishbone Ash and Jon Bon Jovi.  Please share your thoughts with us.

RIP, Earl Scruggs.  One of the bluegrass greats.  Gone up Foggy Mountain.

Those are equal parts awful and great - greatly enjoyed the exhibit, thank you for pointing it out!  He has some really beautiful photographs on the site, too -- if, that is, one can tear him/herself away from the albums.

I'm ashamed to say, but I had thought Scruggs already passed.

I saw him perform a year or so ago, with Fleck and Martin and all the usual banjo nuts.   Still had those fingers a-flying.  A segment on him this morning on CBS Sun. AM show was typically superficial and reminded me why I don't turn it on much.

With the album covers, it's the innocent ones ("A Taste of Dick Black") that are truly funny.  The ones that strived for deliberate grossness (the bestiality guy, the woman on the toilet, the naked woman with the cat, etc.) weren't as interesting.
