I just heard this one for the first time the other day - it may be a lay-up, but I didn't know it...

Who was the first ever 1st-round draft pick out of Puerto Rico?

No sir, the Brooklyn Dodgers signed Clemente as a teen-aged free agent in 1952.

I would have gone with Clemente too.

How about Carlos Beltran?

No, Beltran was taken in the 2nd round of the 1995 draft.

More hints - this player was taken in the first round of the 1994 draft by the Astros, although he never played for their big league club.  He has played for one big league club in addition to the one he now plays for.

Once.

back to trivia: I figure its Puckett or Oliva, Killebrew wasn't a triples type of guy, Carew not a big HR guy.
