still can't get back to alcatraz, but have (oddly enough) starting watching 'walking dead'.  let me start by saying i do not like zombies.  at all.  however, the stories, the characters, the overall treatment of the theme - fantastic.

the new season of spartacus?  not so much, but i'll give it a shot.

Best zombie story ever:  "Fido"  - Canadian film.

Don't have cable, but might check out the DVD first season of WD.  No one ever seems to go at the zombie theme with any recourse to the ethnological studies of Wade Davis in Haiti, but perhaps it lacks the dramatic potential of the pop culture zombie.

i don't have cable, either.  saves me $100/month!  i do have netflix and my computer, though.

they have not yet touched on the 'how' of the zombies, though i'm sure it will be more closely related to 'medical experiments gone wrong' than any ethnological studies.

Watched the first three eps of Walking Dead and, while agreeing that it is well done and fairly imaginative as zombie apocalypse scenarios go, just couldn't stick with it.  And, sigh, do productions set in the South require the cracker from "Deliverance," or reasonable fascimile thereof?

The Walking Dead:  How to spread 30 minutes of story into a 60 minute show.

I think you've pinpointed the problem there.

Is American Idol totally sucky? It has become so worn out over the years. The bar has been raised so high this year is a constant refrain.

I have, the team concept makes it much more interesting. In that genre America has talent stands out with more than just vocalists(magicians, dancers, and specialty acts). Xfactor is the worst. Not needed and unwatchable.

I can't watch any reality TV.  Unless its the mock reality style that Ricky Gervais invented and/or popularized with the original 'The Office' and most recently, 'Life's Too Short'.

The latest attempt at non-traditional reality-TV is a show called 'Comic Book men' which airs after 'The Walking Dead' and features Kevin Smith (and occasionally Jason Mewes) of Jay and Silent Bob (Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma) fame.

Its basically a podcast of Smith and the guys who man his comic book store in red bank, with added scenes of shmucks bringing in their rare comic books for sale and getting beat down in negotiations from the store managers. (Coincidentally, Ricky Gervias might have to take credit for this genre as well since his animated'The Ricky Gervais show' is basically a podcast that's been animated)

Even though its a different spin on reality-TV, 'Comic Book Men' barely holds my attention as I wait for it to be over so I can watch 'The Talking Dead'; a talk show about 'The Walking Dead'.

I'm really into Spartacus this season. The latest episode was epic. The gladiators taking on and defeating an entire arena of fans.  Malice in the palace indeed.  The entire arena was engulfed in flames as the condemned gladiators escape.

For me it is the opposite; reality, or the CSI-NCIS drama franchise. Pawn stars or American pickers from THC are also acceptable. For horror there is Fear Factor over Zombies.

"I'm not into Spartacus!"

"I'M not into Spartacus!"

"No, I'M not into Spartacus!"

(share your sentiments on "reality" tv, Kam....even the well-done alternatives like The Office (U.S.) wear me down, after a while.  Though some of Jim's Dwight-directed pranks are so great, I sometimes want to go back and see them again.  Parks and Rec seems to copy The Office, which copies The Office (UK), so you have the creeping mediocrity of a copy of a copy...)
