Sandra Bullock looked lovely, as she usually does. I can't imagine her as a blonde. ....
[quote madupont "Today I realize, the movie* that brought her there -- had her in blond didn't it? I haven't seen the movie, just the trailer several times over because they really wanted to get this movie out there to a recalcitrant public being publicly blatant." *The Blind Side [/quote]

Oh, and if we're choosing up sides, I'm on Team Sandra. madupont, referring me, the queen of jeans and tees, to a fashion link is kind of a waste of time, but thanks anyway.

Yep, I thought that was pretty cool. Anyone else wonder why Ben couldn't have used the incriminating e-mail after securing the letter of recommendation from the principal?

I thought Bullock's query whether she really earned the Oscar or just wore them down was kind of cute self-deprecation, but none of the acceptances compared to the filmed flash onto Lauren Bacall's accepting Oscar with gratitude for a 2-legged man.

A little better episode than the previous two, but still going backward rather than forward in the storytelling. They cleared up the Alpert-Black Rock connection which was made apparent at the end of last season, but this scene seemed more to do with regaining one's faith as Jack seemed to convince Alpert that all was not lost. Three guesses who the next Jacob is?
Nice to see Ben worked back into the story. I guess they heard me. The "Escape from Elba" reference was pretty funny, as was the relation between Ben and Arzt. Setting up the scene with Alex made it pretty clear that this season is all about redemption.
As for Sawyer, that is some bender he is on!
And, what's with that toy periscope?

Yep, and Jack has always had an orthographic leg up on being a Jacob.
(sorry)
Dynamite scene with Richard Alpert.
(I can't seem to stop myself this morning)
Jack has always had a short fuse.
(might as well surrender to this...)
Seriously, one of the best episodes of the season so far, and I agree it was about time for Ben's "escape from Elba" and some redemption in regard to Alex. Michael Emerson did a grand job of taking us to the emotional core of his Island Ben (his less-Gentle Ben? arg, I'm starting again....).
Earl, I wondered if Ben's misstep in his coup was meant to indicate that his machiavellian skills had been largely dormant in the alternate timeline.
What's with Widmore, at the end? Maybe he has arrived to take MIB and recruits off the island, and has hopes of having MIB as some kind of genie that he can call upon.

You have to figure these two are in cahoots with each other. After all the MIB said he was going to the other island and there is a harbor there. That leaves Eloise to come to the rescue of the Jacobites. Will she fly in on a magic bed?

Unless Sawyer wakes up, fixes coffee, and orchestrates some kind of rescue.
I guess we should name the two camps -- Jacobites is good. Then the other would be...Not-Lockers?

Way, way back - didn't Widmore tell Locke he had to return to the island so that the "right" side wins? Apparently, Widmore is a man with a plan. And apparently "right" is dependent on your point of view. And if Widmore couldn't be killed by Ben a few seasons back, might Widmore be a former MIB somehow, and therefore invincible and kind of Dorian Gray-ish? Though I guess Jacob and the Titus Welliver MIB had been on the island forever, so likely not. And did anyone else get the feeling that when Widmore told the sub guy to proceed, despite people on the beach, that proceed meant "shell the crap out of the island" or something of that ilk?

I wasn't sure, but it did seem like a "proceed" of the dark variety. To kill one of the immortals, you have to use dynamite -- so I take that to mean the body can mend as long as it's in one piece. Alpert's attempt at suicide does raise a question, though -- would his physical death really work as suicide, even if he is Arzt-ed? Or do you just join the cabin kaffee klatsch, and drop in on Hugo from time to time? The show is always spinning out existential dilemmas. And I love it for that.
Great Benisode, and yes, overdue. The "who else will have me?" scene was powerful.

I am glad they gave us one of the more interesting characters in Ben. But on the other hand they confirmed pretty much what everyone with a half a brain already suspected; Alpert came over on the Black Rock. Evidently as a slave chained to the ship. Jacob gave him the gift of non-aging. Glad they revealed a "secret" but that one didn't need revealing.
Interesting though, that like Michael, Richard Alpert had unsuccessfully tried to kill himself many times. I guess he will have an actual death at some point that moves the story along. One assumes.
