MRINGEL,

I know how you feel, but it happens. I did a big  explication of Moliere, and it shattered due to hackers, two days last week, still not clear for me yesterday after being in for a shorter while, and finally resorted to my lap-top but can't access Escapefromelba on my regular pc.

It used to happen a lot more but I thought we were now past the worst. Apparently not.

The forum has been crashing lately. Perhaps some files haven't been

S-2-B-

you´ll be in Argentina and I´ll be with the whole family in....DISNEYWORLD!!!!!!!!!!

As the kids have got a whole month of holidays due to the pig flu the FP decided to take the whole gang to, of all places in the world, Disney!!! Why not Paris,Rome or even a San Francisco would have been bestter.Still I can see myself plunging from high waterfalls into Typhoon lagoon.

The Sacrifices one makes for the progeny! Besides her ex-husband was shipwrecked and lost at sea and probably by now has drowned off the coast of Brazil (not that we care that much ,but still, poor guy).

As you can see I´ll be rather busy these days.

Still,here is the address:

mringel,

The crashing or Hacking as the case may be has happened any number of times in the last two years.  Sometimes, when you feel that you had something really important to say, perhaps from an historical perspective, you find yourself repeating the posting that you did; as verbatim as possible.

What is fascinating to me, the uptake in cyberspace manages to record sometimes the most trivial of things, or the most out of line commentary, revealing a slice of behavior.
I once discovered just such a small event, randomly, and my jaw dropped a little when I recognized it as having taken place  perhaps some seven months earlier.   It might not be exactly great literature but it is the stuff of which literature is made.    Then I told an on-line friend of mine, whom I'd known for about 4 years, and whom I once actually met at a gathering with workshops hosted by the Unitarians  because the war was on; and when I told her about how the internet just keeps raveling up the sleeve of time, she was horrified.

Nowadays, however, I accidentally find information that I could not have imagined looking for but it pops into frame  and there you are eavesdropping on the past, actually, and the private conversations of people  who never would have imagined their discussions would be out there floating around, whether you like it or not; sometimes I wish that I really didn't know but it seems that if you use the internet, coincidences do occur; and you begin to realize how much this resembles existent literature  in quite a dramatic way.

As far as "who would like to destroy a literary forum?", I could say something glib -- such as, there's no accounting for human nature; since that is much safer and avoids trouble. People have all kinds of reasons; but, it is usually just plain ignorance.

Well, Mringel, what do you expect?

Look what they did to Saramago.

They exiled him.

The same with us.

Xscape from Elba = Exiles of the New York Times

The NYTimes exiled us. That’s why we’re here.

What’s so incomprehensible about that?

IMHO your excellent book has TPTB upset.

The result = Dialog With Interruptions.

Exile and Poetry

“I’ve done it before
and doubtless I’ll
do it again”
—Carol Ann Duffy
“Salome, The World’s Wife

Well, Mringel—what do you expect?
Look what they—did to Saramago
They exiled him—the same with us

The NYTimes exiled us—that’s why we’re here
Xscape from Elba = Exiles of the NYTimes
What’s so incomprehensible about that?

IMHO your excellent book has TPTB upset
The result = Dialog With Interruptions
Every book Saramago writes = Dystopia

Borges for me—the ultimate Mazemaker
His translation—Faulkner’s The Wild Palms
Jumpstarting Latino Lit—“magic realism”

All of it hinging on one word—Time
And how Borges—translated Faulkner into
Multiple polyvocal time—and new voices

The way Faulkner—cleaved two stories
Wrapping them around—his taut narrative
Like a couple of snakes—around a caduceus

IMHO—the same with “Delta Autumn”
And Sanctuary—opening up Greek tragedy
To White-Trash Paperback—Pulp Fiction

Faulkner lived in the moment—“When I began
The book, I had no plan at all,” he said…
Sitting in his Yoknapatawpha—rotting mansion

“Now I can write—now I can just write for myself”
Not for the New York publishers—and critics
“I wasn’t even writing a book—I let Benjie talk”

Quentin and Jason talked—but Benjie was first
Pure stream of idiot savant—Mississippi mind
He was the Boy—for whom Time stopped

Imagine a rambling Narrative—told by an idiot
Signifying nothing—other than being outlandish
Melodramatic monologue—lamenting Memory

The way Faulkner—went fishing for Stories
In the Tallahatchie River—or down by the
Old Frenchman Place—inventing Popeye

The way he mapped out—“Portable Faulkner”
The Revised—and Expanded Edition we know
Sipping hooch—letting his Imagination go

Borges must’ve felt—the Deep South vibes
The Banana Republic—Huey P. Long Decadence
The bougainvillea vines—the magnolia stink

The way Faulkner—fell in love in Los Angeles
Howard Hawks the Director—wanting him to do
Chandler’s The Big Sleep—for Hollywood

Faulkner as Popeye—gangster Southern writer
There’s this scene in—Light in August when he’s
Describing intimate—interracial sex and romance

The way Sanctuary’s—gangster hoodlums
Posed like Red as doubles—to satisfy his desire
Ending up in campy burlesque—at the Wake

But it was—Quentin Compson and Shreve
I suppose—sleeping together in that Harvard
Dorm scene—portrayed in Absalom, Absalom

Sleeping together—in that cold dormitory
During the frigid Massachusetts winter
Surfing the Apocalypse—back to Sutpen

Their exquisite dialog—2 boys discussing
Charles the Beautiful—Mandingo boyfriend
The true heir—to the great Sutpen Dynasty

Well, Mringel, if you don't want to answer my question, what can I say?

If the files were your files, then I can see why you were upset.

I checked my files and none seem missing.

Dear Puget,
I am not upset, not at all.
I am a bit busy these 2 weeks, as my daughter who lives now in Canada is here at my home and I spend every minute I can with her....
I wrote some files upon Death in Interruptions and they were gone here in this forum, when it crached,
But, I do have them on my private computer, so if people here will want to discuss this book, I'll sent them again.
But if we'll move to another book, no problem with me.

The Mafia or as they nickname themselves "the new mafia" – without wanting a rural poor family transformed into an object mimicking. The family members become heroes in this story. A rural family who pity the sick old father and the sick baby and passes them the border that they will die and obtain their rest in the land. When other people start to mimic them a mafia who help the people is established, in exchange for lucre, to pass the sick the border and to do what did this rural family.
This new mafia, as all other mafias adopts the same resources of threats, corruption, bribe and intimidation. Pursuant the story, when the family's conscientiousness arises, the mafia finds a wonderful way – in the death certificate will be registered that the dead actually committed suicide and so their profit will not be cut out. In this chaos that happens in this state the place of the mafia is stored and like that already was said also the government is forced to cooperate with it and innocent clerks of state changed to be the gangs of the mafia without choice.

The communication – from the start is built on rumor. In the moment that there is a rumor it is expansive like fire in the field of thorns. The television invites two bewitch to the television program that will elucidate the people this strange phenomenon that there is no death, this that desisted to appear from the beginning of January. After seven innocent months death decides to return from the holiday that she took "without authority" and to fill her original single role that she knows to do – to the kill the people.

General Manager of the television is the man selected by the death to receive the first letter in the purple envelope. The general manager consults the prime minister and both are surprised how the letter is signed with a small letter morte and not Morte as acceptable. Death insists to sign with small letter and she is furious when they correct her in the article about her in the newspaper. "This is abnormal in our language to begin a name with small letter, tell me, do you see something normal in this story that we are living"
She sends a letter in a purple envelope to the general manager of the television, as the person that represents the communication, and requests from him to read it online to the millions of viewers. The letter sounds as philosophical essay about life and the death – after several months of test in the resistant in front of mortal absence from philosophical, social point of view, moral and pragmatic death decided that it will be good to the families and to the whole society that she will return to them and admit her mistake.
