Kilgore Trout, master of the speculative genre, and brought to life by Kurt Vonnegut, who in turn was inspired to create him by the real-life author Theodore Sturgeon, who died too early in life of lung cancer in the mid-1980's in Springfield, Oregon and would have understood the courtesy of deleting or otherwise removing all that is less than the very best prose, which is reflected in the famous "Sturgeon's Law" which is roughly "90% of everything is crap." 

In any case, no one was better prepared to explore the possibilties of a magic carpet ride to the ancient kingdom of Des Moines, which might lead the passenger to discover...
