Meet my team:

C - Ramon Castro (NYM) - $1 - Pass those taters!
C - Jesus Flores (WAS) - $1 - Former Mets prospect, Nats' Rule V pick - Schneider's brittle
1B - Adam Laroche (PIT) - $33 - Whiff!
3B - Aramis Ramirez (CHI) - $37 - Overpaid for him, but he was the last slugger left in the draft
CI - Dmitri Young (WAS) - $9 - If Nick Johnson doesn't come back, this is a steal
2B - Kelly Johnson (ATL) - $8 - Such a sweet swing
SS - Edgar Renteria (ATL) - $25 - Probably overpaid, but worth it if he gets 15/15
MI - Troy Tulowitzki (COL) - $10 - Hopefully the Rox stay with him
OF - Dave Roberts (SF) - $19 - So far, so good
OF - Mike Cameron (SD) - $17 - Whiff!
OF - Chris Duffy (PIT) - $10 - Major flake-out risk, but hopefully not before 25 SB
OF - Todd Linden (SF) - $1 - Roberts insurance
OF - Terrmel Sledge (SD) - $1 - Losing AB's to Cruz Jr., of all people
U - Wilson Betemit (LAD) - $13 - Whiff!
U - Aaron Miles (STL) - $1 - Roster filler

SP - Freddy Garcia (PHI) - $18 - For some reason, I'm hopeful
SP - Jamie Moyer (PHI) - $6 - Why doesn't he get shelled every time out?
SP - Mike Pelfrey (NYM) - $5 - So far, not so good
SP - Randy Wolf (LAD) - $1 - Pleasant surprise
SP - Edgar Gonzalez (ARZ) - $4 - Hopefully can hold off Owings when he comes back
SP - Chris Sampson (HOU) - $1 - Last start - 4 IP, 14 H, 7 ER... Ouch!
SP - (DL) Lance Cormier (ATL) - $2

RP - Manny Corpas (COL) - $10 - picked up for Cormier - 11.2 IP, 5 H, 2 BB, 9 K - sweet
RP - Carlos Villanueva (MIL) - $3 - Hopefully in line for next SP opening - Gallardo looms
RP - Bob Howry (CHI) - $7 - Counting on Dempster flame-out... wasn't counting on Howry sucking
RP - Taylor Tankersley (FLA) - $6 - Hoping for 8 or 10 saves

FARM:  Andy Laroche, Carlos Gomez, Phil Humber

Surely not a winner, but maybe good enough for 3rd or 4th place (13-team NL-only league) this year, and definitely some good keepers for next year.

Personally, I think that Barney Fife - aka Charlie Manuel - decided to deliberately screw my fantasy team by taking his #1 starter and making him into a middle reliever two weeks into the season.  What a freaking moron.

Heh

First a FIFE mention in Sopranos - now here.

Manuel actually reminds me more of Sgt Shultz.

Well the poor guy has just come from managing in the minors and is not used to the big leagues.

Actually, I don't think he was managing anywhere before the Phils hired him.  He was working as a consultant for the Phillies for a bit, but he was out of baseball before that, ever since being fired by the..  the.. why... why... you son of a bitch.

Why bench either?  Even with a low BA, Sizemore is scoring a shit load of runs, stealing bases and getting a great OBP.

kid -

Are the Reds calling up Homer Bailey?  Or perhaps trading him to the Yankees?

Because my other two OFers are Rowand and Duncan. My utility guy is A. Gonzalez.

Well, I think that both Baldelli and Sizemore are more valuable than either of those, although Rowand and Duncan are hotter right now.  By my look, Sizemore has a lead over Baldelli in every category my leagues use (R, HR, Avg., RBI, SB, OPS) except Batting Average.  Zambrano's going for Tornto, and Sizemore's production picks up against righties.  I'd go with him.

Don't know, but he's getting ready

17 hits in 26 frames

Upped his innings to 6 each of the last 2 outings.

Meet my team:

Well, this year is a total wash-out already.  I've got Laroche and Betemit hitting in the .100's with no end in sight.  Is Cameron hitting in the .100's, too?  Tankersley and Howry don't look like they're going to come through with any saves whatsoever, etc., etc., so the fire-sale has begun:

traded Aramis (7.40), Roberts (3.80), Moyer (1.20), Wolf (0.20) and Humber (farm)

for

Cedeno (0.40), Gross (0.20), Sheets (7.60), Davies (2.00) and.... drum roll...

RYAN BRAUN (farm)

I know, my two best players and my two best pitchers for three stiffs, one over-priced so-called "ace" and a prospect, but Braun is raking so I'm hoping he's a 2008 building-block.   I know, I know, offense is inflated in the PCL, etc., but still, I've got high hopes for Braun.  Plus, Roberts is in his Option year, and I don't see Moyer's success or Wolf's lasting much longer, so if Braun rakes in the big leagues next year, and/or if he gets the call this year, the trade will end up not being as lop-sided as it seems at first blush.
