Rut Roh Rump! Rick's Russia Rumba really reeks. Republicans' reputation reflects red reliance. Representatives running re-election races rally recalcitrants!

I think Mueller's investigation should wrap up soon.  Why do they need so much time?  Not like they are coming up with anything.

You guys dont seem to be getting anywhere

And you fault CONGRESS for not coming together....

Isn't that what they get paid to do?

Pretty sure its to represent their constituents' needs and preferences.

Do you understand that in some parts of the nation the AR-15 ban would not be the popular stance?

Big picture, Kid.  There are parts of the nation where white Christian theocracy would be the popular stance, but that doesn't mean the republic is going to transform for them.  Securing the general welfare may sometimes involve specific niche groups sacrificing some of their preferences.  Remember the old saying, "Your right to swing your arms stops at my nose."  No pun intended, but it does add something.

Quote
Let's start with the logistical fallacy at the heart of Trump's claim.

In order to "take away your 2nd Amendment," two-thirds of the House and Senate would need to approve of a proposed Constitutional amendment to repeal the 2nd Amendment. If that happened, the proposed amendment would go to each of the 50 state legislatures, where it would face an up-or-down vote. Three-quarters of those states -- 38 -- would need to approve of the amendment repealing the 2nd Amendment. If they did, the 2nd Amendment would be gone.

Two-thirds of the House and Senate would never agree on this. And even if they did, there is a 0% chance that 38 state legislatures would OK such a plan. Republicans currently have majorities in both the state House and state Senate in 32 states. Thirty-two!

Trump, of course, isn't really engaged in the math of repealing a constitutional amendment. And he's banking on the fact that none of the CPAC crowd cheering for that line has any real sense of the logistical unlikelihood of Democrats getting rid of of their right to bear arms.
What Trump is doing is trying to scare people into voting. If you don't turn out to vote this November, Democrats are going to take control of Congress. Then they'll repeal the 2nd Amendment. And that's when they come to your house and collect your gun(s).

In doing so, Trump is aping a longtime tactic of the NRA -- casting the entire gun debate as a slippery slope. Give an inch on gun control -- universal background checks, for example -- and open Pandora's box to the true motive of gun control fanatics: National gun collection.

Red, Kid, any of our esteemed conservatives notice that the armed deputy stationed at the school is now reported to have cowered outside the building during the shooting.  Apparently, a good guy with a gun doesn't always stop a bad guy with a gun.  Huh.  Who knew?

Yup about the first thing I thought when I heard that news.

https://www.cnn.com/2018/02/22/us/florida-school-shooting/index.html

Parkland, Florida (CNN)The school resource deputy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, waited outside the school building as the shooting unfolded last week, officials said.

Scot Peterson never went in after taking a position on the west side of the building, Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said at a Thursday afternoon news conference.
Peterson resigned after he was suspended without pay by Israel pending an internal investigation into his actions during the shooting that left 17 people dead, Israel said. Peterson was eligible for retirement.

So much for "a good guy with a gun could have prevented this"

Very few people in this debate want to take away 2nd amendment rights.

Most want to reduce the murder of innocent citizens.

If a few less automatic weapons are available to kill those innocents, then the ends would justify the means.

Again, whats the reasonable argument allowing civilians to use weapons (like the AR-15 and its related iterations) primarily intended to kill lots of people very quickly?

Got that right, for a change.

Yeah!  Five indictments and four guilty pleas (not including the 13 indictments of Russian nationals) including the former campaign director of the President and his National Security Adviser.

Nothing!

I'll note your decision to drop your air of impartiality here.

It would first require a “ good “ guy.
Another case of the government coming  up short, way short.
The FBI disgracefully let a deranged killer roamfree and the last line of defense, the guard, was impotent.
