is this the article you are refering to Jim?  The one where Bielema says Meyer promised him personally that it would stop?

I don't know what you mean. I posted the article I was referring to.

Oh I thought you meant this one:

Bielema, whose teams have won more games than any other Big Ten team in his six seasons in Madison, says Badgers athletic director Barry Alvarez will speak Friday with Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany about Meyer’s recruiting methods during the league’s athletic director meetings in Chicago.

During his National Signing Day press conference, Bielema hinted that Meyer was using “illegal” recruiting practices. He said as much again Thursday when contacted by Sporting News, and without getting into specifics offered this:

“I called Urban and we spoke about it,” Bielema said. “We talked about it, and he said it would stop and it did. I’ll let our commissioner deal with anything else. That’s not who we are (in the Big Ten). We settle things among ourselves as coaches.”

The odd thing is, the kid who committed to tOSU after committing to Wisky had decommitted and was fair game for anyone when tOSU landed him.  He was also considering Michigan State.

MSU DC Narduzzi was the one making the comments sort of directed at Meyer, and in his case it really focused on the special relationship Dentonio had with Tressell.

Much ado about nothing.
Barry Alvarez's comments are the final words.

The bigger news is Big Ten coaches are returning to four - year scholarships.

From Bleacher Report
Posted by Tom Fornelli

It seems Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer heard the complaints from fellow Big Ten coaches Bret Bielema and Mark Dantonio about his recruiting tactics on Thursday, and not surprisingly, he doesn't care.

Meyer reportedly fired back while at the Ohio High School coaches clinic on Friday morning.

"You're pissed because we went after a committed guy? Guess what, we got 9 guys who better go do it again," said Meyer. "Do it a little harder next time."

It doesn't sound like Meyer is scared of his upcoming meeting with Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany, does it?

This all started when Wisconsin's Bret Bielema and Michigan State's Mark Dantonio publicly criticized Meyer's recruiting tactics. Of the ten players that committed to Ohio State after Meyer became head coach, eight had previously committed to other schools. That includes offensive tackle Kyle Dodson (Wisconsin) and defensive end Se'Von Pittman (Michigan State).

Bielema also said on Thursday night that Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez was going to be talking to Jim Delany about Meyer's recruiting tactics. All because of a supposed "gentleman's agreement" within the Big Ten that says coaches aren't supposed to go after another coach's commits while recruiting.

Which wasn't the way Meyer, or any coach, did things in the SEC, and it doesn't look like Urban is willing to adapt.

Should be fun September 29th in East Lansing, and November 17th In Madison.

Defending a coach's hypercompetitive, generally considered unethical, and borderline moves. It's not easy, but at tOSU they are well practiced at it.
It's actually not unethical at all. It's contrary to the Big Flexible and Undetermined Amount's culture but that's not the same thing. He's hardly the first coach in the conference to poach recruits.

Two wrongs always make a right in Ohio. Forgot.
No real wrongs. Just sort of impolite. Note it's my coach pitching the bitch. I think he's wrong.

It really depends on what "really" did happen.

Lots of "ifs" here, but...

"If" there really was a gentleman's agreement. And "if" Meyer knew about it. Then Meyer should have respected it. In fact "if" there really was a gentleman's agreement, then the OSU AD should have told Meyer flat out it was a nono and he was forbidden from doing so.

Dantonio has every right to beef "if" there really was an agreement, even "if" it was an unwritten one.

"If" the gentleman's agreement is a fiction of the imagination though Dantonio and Bulemia need to suck it up.

"If" there really was a gentleman's agreement.
There never was, as confirmed Friday by Wisconsin Athletic Director Barry Alvarez.  "Recruiting is  recruiting, until they sign."

Danantonio admitted he had no beef with Meyer.

Sounds as if Myer has them spooked already. He knows that SEC hoodo-voodoo and now he's bringing it to the Big 10+.  How will they ever compete? Oh, woe is them……

I actually watched him play in high school. He was on my high school's rival's team. It was literally watching a man among boys. Of course, he was no Lawrence Taylor, but he certainly gets overlooked when people reminisce about guys who could rush the quarterback.

Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith agreed and said the discussions stem from feedback “that we need to do something different,” especially after the recent BCS title game between LSU and Alabama drew lower ratings that other championship games.

Fucking A, Smith. Especially now that we don't even have the opportunity to lose the NC game. Fuck, we can't even get in it. Smiley

Delaney and Company are not going to be an afterthought if there is a four way play-off.
Consider the B1G' s pioneering efforts in instant replay, The B1G Ten Network, and the Pac12 agreement.
And Delaney wants to make sure the Rose Bowl is not hurt as it certainly would be in a plus one.

Interesting that under the four team playoff mentioned the B1G would have had teams competing in five of the last ten years.

Ohio State seems to be stirring the pot towards the regular season with no Bowl Game to shoot for.
Buckeye fans for sure want to wreck any post season high hopes for Michigan.

And Gordon Gee shows no signs of letting Bret Bielema off the hook for Bielema'sinexplicable kerfuffle over Urban Meyer' s ability to flip 8 HS recruits;

“We hired the best coach and we went out and got the best kids, so get a life.”

If Meyer and chirping like that can fire up more B1G schools so much the better.
