https://talkingpointsmemo.com/feature/stolen-elections-voting-dogs-and-other-fantastic-fables-from-the-gop-voter-fraud-mythology

Voter fraud bullshit...

“Republican Kris Kobach, the Kansas Secretary of State who had pushed for strict voter ID laws around the country, served as the vice chair. Vice President Mike Pence was the chair. But few state election officials wanted anything to do with it. When the commission reached out to states for sensitive voter information, Mississippi Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann, a Republican, memorably replied that “they can go jump in the Gulf of Mexico, and Mississippi is a great state to launch from.” Even Kobach’s own Kansas office refused to hand over the information the commission requested, which included partial social security numbers.

The unenthusiastic response likely reflected officials’ understanding that the fraud commission wouldn’t turn up much. Numerous studies have found that voter fraud is far from a major issue in the U.S., and in-person fraud of the sort Trump and Kobach like to talk about — things like non-citizens showing up to vote or people returning to vote multiple times under different names — is vanishingly rare. A 2007 study by NYU’s Brennan Center for Justice memorably found that an individual American is more likely to get struck by lightning than to commit in-person voter fraud.

And yet, as of last summer, 68 percent of Republicans thought millions of illegal immigrants had voted in 2016, and almost three quarters said voter fraud happens “somewhat” or “very often.” The same survey found that nearly half of Republicans believed Trump had won the popular vote.”@

And there it is...

REDSTATEWARD can try to dress it up however he likes but the push for voter ID is a non-problem, and exists in the minds of people because of elected officials who planted that problem there.  Why did they do that?  I mean, our politicians have plenty of real problems to deal with, why create new ones out of thin air?

We know why. And REDSTATEWARD knows why. But like the “problem” of chain migration he can’t type it here.

Why are IDs needed?

To catch the 19 foreign nationals in North Carolina, while at the same time threatening to disenfranchise tens of thousands of legitimate voters?

Sounds like a Republican scheme to weed out the undesirables and gerrymander without the messy need of redrawing lines.

An ideologue can troll you forever,  because his MO is to demand absolute proof that any one voter is completely blocked from voting by ID laws,  distant stations,  etc.   He'll have you hauling water all week with stuff like "they could have gotten a ride" or "you can take time off work if you really care"  or "anyone can obtain a photo ID with a trip to the DMV and the appropriate fee money... "  To the ideologues,  everyone who votes must be a dedicated soldier of democracy who storms the ramparts.   It's bullshit, that ignores the blindingly obvious reality that some impoverished minorities already feel the system of government has deserted them.   Voting barriers only feed that feeling.

Red either has me on iggy or just ignores my posts, and has for close to 2 years, as I don't play the game he wants to play and generally just call him out for his anti-American and anti-democratic stances. Stats and facts don't matter to Red. They simply don't, which is why his response to facts and stats which prove him incorrect is typically "LOL" or "you  are wrong" with no substantiation to his points.

Red is a Rush Limbaugh wanna-be light-weight gas-bag, but he's our gas-bag, unfortunately we got the one that smells of methane and rotting eggs.

“We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force. The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. They have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom. We cannot walk alone.

As we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead. We cannot turn back. There are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, “When will you be satisfied?” We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality. We can never be satisfied, as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. We cannot be satisfied as long as the Negro’s basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. We can never be satisfied as long as our children are stripped of their selfhood and robbed of their dignity by signs stating “For Whites Only”. We cannot be satisfied as long as a Negro in Mississippi cannot vote and a Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote. No, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until justice rolls down like waters and righteousness like a mighty stream.”

Methane is odorless, but I know what you mean.  Organic volatiles, like mercaptan, are added to pressurized NG.
And, fun fact, 99% of a fart is odorless hydrogen and methane.

:o
No proof except those quotes from myriad Republican politicians explaining the precise reason for ID laws. For approximately the 12,465,233rd time since these discussions began. Why enact these laws?

But you have your chance. Again. Why are ID laws needed?
A little late since that ship has sailed over 30 times.
So back to your original answer: SCOREBOARD. No reason needed.
You got a better yardstick to measure with?
I'll answer your question when you answer mine you amoral hack.
Why are ID’s needed?
To prove the identity of the voter and simplify the voting process.
You got a better way?

More minorities don't have ID.......

It's a problem for the Democrats.  If shoe was on the other foot I guess the Republicans would be against the picture ID thing.

https://www.cnn.com/2018/08/28/politics/north-carolina-gerrymandering-kagan-balance-of-power-house/index.html

North Carolina's GOP-run legislature continues to attempt to foist upon their electorate a bogus gerrymandered map of congressional districts and the courts continue to reject the efforts.

Gov. Brown Signs Landmark Bill Ending Bail for Defendants Awaiting Trial in California
POSTED 1:07 PM, AUGUST 28, 2018, BY TRIBUNE MEDIA WIRE, UPDATED AT 01:13PM, AUGUST 28, 2018

https://ktla.com/2018/08/28/gov-brown-signs-landmark-bill-reforming-californias-bail-system/

-------------------

California is attempting to make our justice system more just. They want to eliminate one's wealth from being a deciding factor in our justice system.

While I respect what they are trying to do, I do not know if it will work. Bail, and bail bondsmen, have helped to make sure that people show up for their trials, guys like Dog the Bounty Hunter have helped to make sure that people show up for trial.

We could have punishment for not showing up for trial, such as adding extra time to your prison sentence for not showing up for your trial, or something like that, to make sure that people show up for their trials. There are things that can be done to help make sure that people show up for their trials.

California is the first state to adopt this new policy on bail, and the whole world is watching California, and if it works in California then you can expect other states to follow suit.

Salute,

Tony V.

So....if blacks want equal treatment - to be seen like their caucasian brothers, why is it such a big deal when a prominent black is a fan of the President?

I can't quite make sense of your question.  Who is making a big deal of who being a Trumpist?   And what do people's opinions have to do with principles like equal rights,  equality before the law,  all that?

I think he was referring to Tiger Woods.
