DTele today:

"Aussie injured in Afghanistan shooting identified.

The Australian man gunned down in a deadly attack on foreign tourists in Afghanistan is in a stable condition in hospital."

#####

Foreign tourists?
In Afghanistan?
Gee, what could possibly go wrong.

Unesco World Heritage site, the ancient Buddhas blown up there....3 Spanish tourists killed, at least one Spaniard injured in the attack, suspected to be by Islamic State militants.

Sounds great, Tony.

I on the other hand am cruising the kitchen looking for something to eat, but the cupboards are almost bare...10 days to go until next payment [the dog has plenty of food]. :-)    ...had to get the car fixed this pension fn.
Luckily there's a new jar of Vegemite in the pantry.  :)
Can't go to the food bank..."what is this amount here debited to your bank account reading "Foxtel"?  "You shouldn't be having all that internet, movies, sport in HD etc instead of buying food"!  They would have a good point.
No worries, I'll just skip a bill payment of some sort...team bambu will survive. YouTube videos have taught me how to live on less.

Bringing two cars into the retirement village would've been ideal, ...one needs fixing, you drive the other one.
but, nowhere to park it but on the driveway...with the other one in the garage.
Defeats the purpose of drive up, depress the remote, garage door opens, drive car in and close door...don't get wet when it rains and don't ever have to get out of car to open garage door.

Wise us made sure there was a "govt transportation bus stop at gate "...good service, 'old people' can travel on the bus cheaply.

I will pray for you Bambu, I will pray for God to bless you. And I had the same thing happen, I had an unplanned emergency take my savings away, I had to pay $110 for a ride home from a Colonoscopy, they found and removed 10 pre-cancerous polyps, they saved my life, I need to go back next year and get another colonoscopy as it was so bad, but they saved my life. Anyhow, the ride home took all of my money, and so I lived on oranges, and pasta. I can get oranges for 4 for $1, and the pasta is $1.50, so we have cheap food at the store.

And I ride the bus, I gave up my car, I cannot afford a car anymore with the cost of the car, plus gasoline, and insurance, etc, I sold my car and I ride the bus. If I was rich, I would buy the electric Volkswagen Bus, if my movie and my poetry book are successful then I will buy a VW Bus. ( I also gave up smoking cigarettes, they are $10 per pack now, plus they are very unhealthy. I would rather spend the money on food and clothes, etc. ) I also like to walk, like they do in Europe, I walk to the store to buy dinner, etc, I walk through the park to the Mexican Market, it is such a beautiful walk through the park, and our city motto is City of Kindness, and everyone is kind. And I am healthy from walking everyday and from carrying my groceries, etc.

I have lots to be grateful for, sitting here in a beautiful apartment with a nice cup of coffee, with perfect weather outside, and I am optimistic about the future. I want a wife and a family, and I want to produce movies and television shows and I want to publish my poetry book, etc. But, meanwhile, I have a nice apartment and food to eat, so I am grateful. I have an attitude of gratitude.

If you live on rice, then you need beans to make up the other half of the needed nutrients, people who live on rice need to eat beans to go with the rice. The Mexicans always have beans with their rice. And they eat the prickly pear cactus with scrambled eggs, with salsa, and tortillas. The Mexicans can feed a whole house full of people on a minimum wage job.

I have not tried Vegemite yet, but I have lived on Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches. I hope God blesses you with food. And that is good that the dog is well taken care of.

It will get better here when they start filming more movies and television shows here, now that Newsom has lowered taxes for producers.

Salute,

Tony V.

Bambu, right now during peace is the best time to send the Peace Corps into Afghanistan, and Iraq, etc, and they need to send in the teachers, and the preachers, and the Catholic Churches, etc, and Kiwanis, etc, and they can have the Key Club for the high school kids, and Circle K for the college age youth, etc. Now is the time to win the hearts, and minds, of the people of Afghanistan and Iraq, etc, now during peacetime. And we can control their movies, and television, and radios, and music, etc. And money has power during peacetime.

Oh, I didn't mean to have you concerned for my welfare. No way I would intentionally do that.
I should be the one concerned for you...and am.
Yes, cars are expensive, you're better off without one if you can ride the bus and walk.
Pack of 30 Winfield Blue cigarettes in Australia is $57.99 Aust.

Mrs bambu had a colonoscopy recently...all good. She had one 3 years ago, yes, pre-cancerous polyps removed.
Me? I always meant to have one, and also do a bowel cancer kit test and send the sample away...just never got around to it.

After age 74 it is written that there is an increased risk of 'tearing/bleeding' inside.
I'm closer to 80 than 75...so I've decided to let nature take its course. Whatever kills me kills me.
Prostate cancer, bowel cancer, stomach cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, brain cancer, heart attack, the list of possibles is very long. 10 people in my retirement village have passed away recently.
Here one day, gone the next.
I was shocked.
Mrs bambu said to me "It's a retirement village, full of 'old people'"!!!

I fear Christian churches, teachers, preachers, and Peace corps folk would not be welcomed in Afghanistan by the Taliban or Islamic State militants.

NYT reports that three NYPD officers were filmed punching three demonstrators at a pro-Palestinian rally in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

"The police say protesters were blocking the streets."

"with police flooding the neighbourhood and using force against the protesters."

#####

At last.
Time to keep the streets clear.
Commerce must be allowed to operate without interruption by protesters.
As should the lives of citizens  moving around working and shopping, exercising.

Right now the unemployment rate in California is twice that of the rest of the nation, with 125,000 homeless people, and high housing costs and high food costs, etc.

I see lots of bright spots, with Disneyland and Hollywood doing better, and with lots of new opportunities for film and television jobs, and improvements for tourism, etc, but we need to advance to get these homeless people into housing and to have an economy where people can comfortably afford food and shelter. And we have a new high speed train that is being built between Las Vegas and Southern California, etc, and Vegas is doing fantastic right now, it is easy to get a job in Vegas.

I think one big thing in California is that we need for our companies to be locally owned and operated, and we need for the companies to care about the people here and to be altruistic here.

The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Hollywood is closing, and the students will have to train at their New York City location now. It is sad, and I do not understand it, the movie and television studios should love to have schools which are training people here to work in the Entertainment Industry, and instead the schools go unsupported and close. Jessica Chastain attended the AADA about the same time that I did, and she was very successful with "The Eyes of Tammy Faye" which she produced herself with her own production company. The AADA is a great school, and the studios should have supported the AADA here instead of letting it close. Now the actors have to go to New York to train. And what about USC film school, and Chapman film school? They need actors for their student films, etc. The studios should love to have the schools here training people to work at the studios. But the fucking problem is we have studios owned by Japanese corporations that are sending the money home to Japan and they do not give a fuck about California, and to top it off they are still pissed off about the nukes.

In Anaheim Disney is American Owned, and Disney came to our City Council and asked how can we help Anaheim? Disney is being altruistic and will help the homeless here, and will build new parks, etc, along with creating jobs, etc. And Fullerton Community College is training people for jobs at Disneyland, etc. We need for other companies all over California to be altruistic like Disney. Instead of just being greedy while the streets are full of homeless people and while the cities become ghettos, then we need for the companies to care, like Disney, and to come to our cities to ask, How can we help the city?

And the whole Japanese Business Model is BULLSHIT, they work themselves to death for heartless corporations and then when they are old and worthless they commit suicide. The Japanese love suicide. I do not want to work for the Japanese, and I do not want to rent from the Japanese, and I do not want to get on that treadmill, and it is bad for Art. I love the French Business Model much more, especially for Artists, and the Italian Business Model. The whole purpose of working is to have a good life and family, not just be a slave to a corporation and then kill yourself when you are old and worthless.

Say what you want about Henry Ford, but he gave the workers Saturday and Sunday off, and he was the first to do a 40 hour work week, and he paid better than everyone else, Henry Ford was very altruistic, and guys like him built America. And Henry Ford invested in Michigan, instead of sending the money to Japan.

We need to care about the 125,000 homeless people on the streets of California, and we need to be concerned that our unemployment rate is twice as high as the rest of the nation.

We have lots of water thanks to all of the rain, and we can grow food in California, and we can make wine, and we can employ the refugees in the United Farm Workers, etc, and we can export food to China, etc.

And Mayor Bass is doing a good job, and we have the Olympics coming up in 4 years, it can get better. People just need to care. And we need cheap hostels like in Rome where people can get a cheap bed and shower for $15 per night, and we need cheap sober living homes where people can rent a cheap bed for $450 per month, etc.

I would love to rise to the top and buy Universal Studios, and be altruistic, and make great films, television shows, and music, etc, both here in Hollywood, and at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. And instead of sending the money to Japan, I would spend money right here in the USA. Good people like me need to rise to the top here in Hollywood. We need people at the top who care about the homeless people on the street around the studio. And we need to support the AADA, and USC film school, and Chapman film school, etc, and we need to hire the graduates, and we can hire the writers from National Lampoon at Harvard, etc.

And as far as the fucking Japanese go, we need to send them a Hard Rock Hotel and Casino owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, and we can send them Vegas casinos, and we can build more McDonald's in Japan, etc. And we need to teach the Japanese how to enjoy life more, and how to care about people more than money. The people are more important than money, and money is just a tool to be used to make life better. Working yourself to death for some fucked up heartless corporation is a horrible life, the Japanese Business Model sucks. We need to teach the Japanese to be more like the French and Italians. It is BULLSHIT to work 100 hours per week just to die when you get old.

Meanwhile, Pope Francis has joined the G-7, so that will help the world to become a more compassionate and caring place.

Life is not about being punished for being born, and life does not have to be hard, it is hard enough that we have to grow old and die and watch everyone we love die, we should not make life worse by becoming a slave to some heartless corporation while our cities become ghettos full of homeless people, the Japanese Business Model sucks. I would rather work for the French, or the Italians. And workers need to be able to survive while working 40 hours a week, with Saturdays and Sundays off.

Salute,

Tony V.
