These are good days for Australia, you will be fine Bambu.

And China is on our team, everything will be fine.

China on our team?

Sky News yesterday:

PM Albo, from the "socialist left of the Labor Party" is being accused of "cosying up to China".
China called him "handsome boy"

65,000 people lost their full time jobs in Dec. A lot of jobs in a small population country.

At least the weather is nice for 'waltzing matilda'.

I've been out of balance since age 16 when I was run down by a car on the side of a busy road thru my then Sydney suburb.
Major concussion etc. So if I stray from the forum path of righteousness, you'll have to forgive me.

Be careful crossing, playing near roads. Teach your children too.

Toddler girl of Indian heritage was accidentally run over and killed by her father in the driveway of their home in Sydney recently.
The next day the same thing happened to a boy toddler somewhere else in the state.

You usually only get one chance, the vehicle usually wins.

American exchange student on Youtube says in her video that when in Australia in 2023 she was nearly hit by cars when crossing the roads...cars coming from the other direction.
In Sydney CBD and some major suburbs, at intersections where pedestrians cross, is painted on the sidewalk "LOOK RIGHT".

I always look both ways 3 times before crossing any road. It's a good policy.

Also when driving, my head is like a clown at the fair, its head alwqys turning from side to side, you putting a ping pong/table tennis ball into its mouth to see if you win a prize.

We have 'roundabouts/traffic circles' *everywhere* instead of traffic lights.
Vehicles coming from the left, coming from the right, coming from straight ahead into the roundabout. It can be mayhem, especially with multiple lanes each way.

I was thrown totally out of balance last week when our relative's wife, in her 60's, died.
Seeing him at the funeral grieving was upsetting.
Realising what I'm in for if mrs bambu dies before me was /is horrible.

Enough about me.
///

On my tv news just now were the relatives of the Jewish/Israeli etc hostages still held by the Hamas terrorists. Still being starved, tortured, and sexually assaulted.

South Africa, the Arab world, the UN etc...not happy with the war and Israel's destruction of Gaza to get the terrorists out and free the hostages, should remove all the Palestinians in Gaza to safety somewhere, to a large detention centre/refugee camp, secure so no one can escape [there could be terrorists hiding among them].
Israel could then find the tunnels, flatten Gaza, clear it of terrorists and tunnels, then allow the Palestinians to return...under UN military force security.

You are doing fine Bambu, and you are lucky to have a wife and it is great that you appreciate her, enjoy her while you are both alive.

And I had an Uncle who got me high on Angel Dust when I was 13 years old, it is a miracle I am not a vegetable. We smoked Angel Dust at a Judas Priest concert at the Great Western Forum, which is now the Kia Forum.

On the issue of terrorists, I support removing the bad apples while preserving the lives of the innocent people. Reward the good, remove the truly evil, and also, put them all to work, create honest jobs and keep them busy. Israel is growing eggplant the size of watermelon and the others in the area can do the same. China can buy eggplant from the Egyptians, etc. And they have great cotton in Egypt. Etc.

Abu Dhabi and Dubai are wealthy, and the refugees from Gaza can become essential workers in Abu Dhabi and in Dubai. They can be transported by Kiwanis International, and by UNICEF, etc.

President of Colombia

We have spoken with Pope Francis of Colombia's Peace, as we had said, seeking a much more active position from both the Vatican State and the Catholic Church in the Colombia's Peace Process. It is possible that we will do a round of negotiations in the Vatican, it will already be discussed with the ELN, so that we can build an even much deeper step in stopping the violence.

------

Pope Francis is a wonderful Pope, and he is a great man of Peace. And lots of wonderful progress has been made in Colombia.

Salute,

More govt overreach at the Motor Vehicle Admin.

Used to be the county workers at the MVA could do the test
for the eye exam themselves.  But no, not now!
Now you have to have the test done by an optometrist, have them
fill in more paperwork, and actually verify that you are able to drive
safely with corrective lenses! WTF.

We need less testing, not more by an intrusive Govt.  We only have 40,000 traffic deaths per year and billions of dollars of damage and loss to personal property.

How much more would result from drivers with limited eyesight?
Not enough to allow the govt. to regulate vision!

All regulations are unconstitutional. ALL regs restrict FREEDOM. That must end.

Same goes in bambuworld.
Doctor has to pass you as fit to drive, at age 75, includes eye test.
At age 85 you also have to do a driving test at the"DMV".

"Freedom" shouldn't include the right to drive on the roads with poor eyesight, any health condition that puts you at risk of having an accident.

Rep. Chip Roy is somewhat surprisingly providing many of the best sound bites of the 2024 election cycle.

25 January 2024...Alabama is to kill death row prisoner, by nitrogen gas, untried.
Vets won't even use the method on animals.
Storage of the gas is extremely dangerous, has killed people.
UN says 'torture' and 'inhumane'.
US is being urged not to go ahead with this premeditated death chamber killing.
Alabama continues on.

And people are moralising on Israel.

While I agree with you on the DP, I should note I have worked with liquid nitrogen and it is one of the safest liquified gases, being inert, non-irritating, and suppresses combustion.  Liquid oxygen is more dangerous and it is stored in hospitals, which tells you something.
The danger of LN is with industrial storage where a larger release of the odorless gas can displace oxygen and cause suffocation in an enclosed space.  This is a danger with many stored gases that are not oxygen.

As a DP method, I haven't seen the research, but I suspect there hasn't been any and the poor fellow in Alabama is being used as a guinea pig.  Cruel and unusual, indeed.
