Saw on my news the other day...
para:
"chaos in Congress as members trade insults"
*
one insult something about eyelashes.

Speaker should've blown an airhorn and said:

"Excuse me! This is not elementary school!"

NYT reports that three NYPD officers were filmed punching three demonstrators at a pro-Palestinian rally in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

"The police say protesters were blocking the streets."

"with police flooding the neighbourhood and using force against the protesters."

#####

At last.
Time to keep the streets clear.
Commerce must be allowed to operate without interruption by protesters.
As should the lives of citizens  moving around working and shopping, exercising.

Bambu, right now during peace is the best time to send the Peace Corps into Afghanistan, and Iraq, etc, and they need to send in the teachers, and the preachers, and the Catholic Churches, etc, and Kiwanis, etc, and they can have the Key Club for the high school kids, and Circle K for the college age youth, etc. Now is the time to win the hearts, and minds, of the people of Afghanistan and Iraq, etc, now during peacetime. And we can control their movies, and television, and radios, and music, etc. And money has power during peacetime.

Salute,

Tony V.

I fear Christian churches, teachers, preachers, and Peace corps folk would not be welcomed in Afghanistan by the Taliban or Islamic State militants.
Not sure about Iraq today.

Original no1 radio host used to say:  "Some places are ungoverned, and ungovernable".

Sounds great, Tony.

I on the other hand am cruising the kitchen looking for something to eat, but the cupboards are almost bare...10 days to go until next payment [the dog has plenty of food]. :-)    ...had to get the car fixed this pension fn.
Luckily there's a new jar of Vegemite in the pantry.  :)
Can't go to the food bank..."what is this amount here debited to your bank account reading "Foxtel"?  "You shouldn't be having all that internet, movies, sport in HD etc instead of buying food"!  They would have a good point.
No worries, I'll just skip a bill payment of some sort...team bambu will survive. YouTube videos have taught me how to live on less.

Bringing two cars into the retirement village would've been ideal, ...one needs fixing, you drive the other one.
but, nowhere to park it but on the driveway...with the other one in the garage.
Defeats the purpose of drive up, depress the remote, garage door opens, drive car in and close door...don't get wet when it rains and don't ever have to get out of car to open garage door.

Wise us made sure there was a "govt transportation bus stop at gate "...good service, 'old people' can travel on the bus cheaply.

I will pray for you Bambu, I will pray for God to bless you. And I had the same thing happen, I had an unplanned emergency take my savings away, I had to pay $110 for a ride home from a Colonoscopy, they found and removed 10 pre-cancerous polyps, they saved my life, I need to go back next year and get another colonoscopy as it was so bad, but they saved my life. Anyhow, the ride home took all of my money, and so I lived on oranges, and pasta. I can get oranges for 4 for $1, and the pasta is $1.50, so we have cheap food at the store.

And I ride the bus, I gave up my car, I cannot afford a car anymore with the cost of the car, plus gasoline, and insurance, etc, I sold my car and I ride the bus. If I was rich, I would buy the electric Volkswagen Bus, if my movie and my poetry book are successful then I will buy a VW Bus. ( I also gave up smoking cigarettes, they are $10 per pack now, plus they are very unhealthy. I would rather spend the money on food and clothes, etc. ) I also like to walk, like they do in Europe, I walk to the store to buy dinner, etc, I walk through the park to the Mexican Market, it is such a beautiful walk through the park, and our city motto is City of Kindness, and everyone is kind. And I am healthy from walking everyday and from carrying my groceries, etc.

I have lots to be grateful for, sitting here in a beautiful apartment with a nice cup of coffee, with perfect weather outside, and I am optimistic about the future. I want a wife and a family, and I want to produce movies and television shows and I want to publish my poetry book, etc. But, meanwhile, I have a nice apartment and food to eat, so I am grateful. I have an attitude of gratitude.

If you live on rice, then you need beans to make up the other half of the needed nutrients, people who live on rice need to eat beans to go with the rice. The Mexicans always have beans with their rice. And they eat the prickly pear cactus with scrambled eggs, with salsa, and tortillas. The Mexicans can feed a whole house full of people on a minimum wage job.

I have not tried Vegemite yet, but I have lived on Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches. I hope God blesses you with food. And that is good that the dog is well taken care of.

It will get better here when they start filming more movies and television shows here, now that Newsom has lowered taxes for producers.

Salute,

Tony V.

Oh, I didn't mean to have you concerned for my welfare. No way I would intentionally do that.
I should be the one concerned for you...and am.
Yes, cars are expensive, you're better off without one if you can ride the bus and walk.
Pack of 30 Winfield Blue cigarettes in Australia is $57.99 Aust.

Mrs bambu had a colonoscopy recently...all good. She had one 3 years ago, yes, pre-cancerous polyps removed.
Me? I always meant to have one, and also do a bowel cancer kit test and send the sample away...just never got around to it.

After age 74 it is written that there is an increased risk of 'tearing/bleeding' inside.
I'm closer to 80 than 75...so I've decided to let nature take its course. Whatever kills me kills me.
Prostate cancer, bowel cancer, stomach cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer, brain cancer, heart attack, the list of possibles is very long. 10 people in my retirement village have passed away recently.
Here one day, gone the next.
I was shocked.
Mrs bambu said to me "It's a retirement village, full of 'old people'"!!!

DTele today:

"Aussie injured in Afghanistan shooting identified.

The Australian man gunned down in a deadly attack on foreign tourists in Afghanistan is in a stable condition in hospital."

#####

Foreign tourists?
In Afghanistan?
Gee, what could possibly go wrong.

Unesco World Heritage site, the ancient Buddhas blown up there....3 Spanish tourists killed, at least one Spaniard injured in the attack, suspected to be by Islamic State militants.

Do you have a name of one of these experts?

Former Major General, then Senator Jim Molan (recently deceased).

Ross Babbage, a non-resident senior fellow at the Centre for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments in Washington.

Experts.

Indeed.
Experienced and learned gentlemen...forming their opinions from China's words and actions. They hope they're wrong, and their predictions never come true, but Taiwan, Australia etc are preparing...as China's economy gets worse.
IMO China would be better off continuing to buy up the world one farm, one business, one industry at a time.

If you had kickstarted your EV sector thirty years ago, made it your number one project and priority, you now might be selling your cars to them and us.

It takes a slow and lazy country to make a feckless fuck like Bambi. Now Ozzies go around hat in hand begging for someone to bail them out. Still, if you keep your conservatives in the wilderness and far from the corridors of power for a few decades you may turn it around and rise to the level of a third world power one day.

We don't make cars here. We used to, via Ford, GM, Nissan, Toyota.....and govt subsidies.
Unions kept striking for higher wages, higher superannuation, higher everything. It got to the stage that it all became unaffordable. The govt stopped the subsidies and the car manufacturers closed down.
Their cars are still on sale, just made in Japan/Asia, Europe, USA.

It sounds like you really need to be conquered by someone as you are clearly incapable of taking care of yourself.

We need to arm the 26 million population...anyone over age 10.
Hopefully Chinese immigrants would fight against the Chinese invaders (experts said on Sky News etc last year that Australia will be at war with China within 5 years, whenever it invades Taiwan and America etc defend it).

America will never be invaded, because the population is armed...experts say.

Australia did what the US, Britain and the other good guys wanted it to do, nuclear non-proliferation.
So far it's working well, with ANZUS Alliance in place and Britain and France allies.
The test will come when China invades Taiwan then Australia.
Also AUKUS pact, with Japan maybe joining.
There's a question mark hanging over AUKUS...with maybe a change of govt in Washington ... Trump has stated no policy as yet.
bambu is of Welsh and Prussian [Germany/Poland] ancestry.

Welcome to 2024...where everyone seems to be just increasing the prices of what they're selling to whatever level customers will pay.
Think the olives cost too much unreasonably, think that price-gouging is going on, ...don't buy them.
Leave them on the shelf.
If enough people leave them on the shelf, the price-gouging will stop.

Article in my paper today, blueberries costing $14 ... readers commenting, complaining.
One guy said "blueberries for $14?...no thank you, I'll stick with my Coke and chocolate"!!!

It's everywhere, especially in my supermarkets.
Average Joe is *bleeding* in bambuworld.
American style homelessness is appearing.
Housing and rents unaffordable for an increasing number.
Leftist govts' massive immigration is much of the cause.
I believe team bambu will never be homeless, but who knows what the future holds. Average Joe is going backwards, prices of just about everything increasing much higher than the rate of inflation and the amount of wage and pension increases.

You are right of course, if we refuse to pay the high prices and let the goods sit on the shelves then the prices will come down.

But, at the same time we have masses of homeless people coming to the USA looking for work, and the Bible says that if a man does not work then neither should he eat, Mexicans are taught to work hard. Our immigrants from our Southern Border can all be growing food in order to keep the prices low on food, we can have a high supply to keep the prices low. Like with the California wine from Modesto, I am getting it for $4 per bottle, and I bet it costs twice that in Montana or in Wyoming. California wine is probably a lot more expensive in New York than it is here in California.

But yes, I had to quit eating eggs because of the high price of eggs. I used to love omelettes, and steak and eggs, and scrambled eggs with Chorizo, etc, but all too expensive now because of high egg prices. The refugees need to raise chickens for eggs to bring down the price of eggs. And the homeless hippies can have communes where they can raise chickens for eggs, etc, to bring down the price of eggs. The Future Farmers of America can teach people how to raise chickens for eggs, and how to raise cows for milk to make cheese, etc. And we need to put all of those refugees to work growing food, etc, to bring down the prices, and if we have surpluses then we can make money by exporting food to China, etc.

Salute,

Tony V.

Not too sure importing masses of homeless people from all over the world is the way to go.

When China invades Taiwan then Australia it will be exporting cheap eggs to you. Australia will be a manufacturing heaven for China...favourable weather, infrastructure already in place, China will turn world manufacturing on its head. Chinese cars etc will be so cheap America's car industry and *all* other manufacturing will be no more.
Chinese SUVs and commercial vehicles are now well made, long warranties...they're improving all the time...are flooding into Australia.
People and businesses are buying them because they're cheap, are warrantied for a long time and the servicing costs are low.

November 29, 1947: The UN General Assembly passes UN Resolution 181, which calls for the partition of Palestine into a Jewish state and an Arab state.

November 30, 1947: Palestinian Arabs ambush a bus carrying Jewish passengers near Lod (Lydda), an attack often cited as the start of the civil war in Palestine.

December 2, 1947: The Arab Higher Committee, the leading organizer of the Palestinian Arab nationalist movement in Jerusalem, announces a three-day strike against the partition plan. Riots break out in the city, and violence between Arabs and Jews escalates.

Well there you go.

Oh well, they didn't, so the wars began.
