The trail runner's job is to get to third.

The lead runner tries to score on a botched rundown or obstruction by the defense.

Yes.  Most times after a bonehead gaffe such as Bichette's there will be 02 men out when play is over.

Note:. The one lifeline Bichette has in this is if the contact play was on.  If it was then Semien should have just dashed home (on contact = as soon as ball is struck on the ground) and got hung up allowing batter to get to second and Bichette to third

Thanks, Coach.

So, yes, you are saying you prefer there be a rundown between 3rd and home.

And no, in that situation, the runner on third should have held and the runner picked off 2nd should have been allowed to be out.

Otherwise, as I said, we would have many more such triple plays.

Remind me not to hire you to teach Little Leaguers.

And defensively you teach to change the rundown to whatever is closest to home if 2 guys are off base

Which is exactly what Yanks did.

Which is why you teach the players to not to leave 3rd base when the idiot runner left 2nd and got picked off.

Everybody in the ALE lost today except Baltimore, which is okay.

"ain't nothing I should do," more like.

Can do? Yes - can cause an extra out and end the inning.

Or as you would have it, "sheer fucking brilliance."

Somehow, I think blaming the fact that MLB is going to start enforcing a rule that has been around for a long time for your injury isn't wise.

Quite the 9th inning comeback by the Buffalo Blue Jays.

Seattle squandered a good sized lead, finally giving up the game tying run in the top of the 9th to the resilient Rays.

But they recovered in the bottom of the 10th to win.

A good game, well played.

BAUER has a good solution.  Make all the game balls sticky from the get go - with all pitchers then using the same safer baseball.  He envisions a machine to do the application.

Disappointing ending to the weekend in KC.

Go Seattle!

TB has lost 6 in a row, four of them on walk-offs including all three games with Seattle.

This is also, the announcer said, the first time Seattle has swept a 3 game set with Tampa Bay.

Walk off grand slam is quite exciting, even if the score was tied.

Sawamura a real find

Can Sox - as mediocre as they are - hold on to a playoff spot?

Baseball karma would say no, we'll see
Well, the Sox are 4 up on us, and we are one Aaron Civale blister away from a pitching staff comprising nothing but relievers....
THAT WAS A FUCKING JOKE NOT A SUGGESTION!
