Pretty simple.  Not surprised you do not understand - valuation of the franchise is the key over operating revenue.

I am sure Jeter's 4 per cent cash out was profitable for his investment.

Value of the Franchise is mostly only in play for selling it.

Got numbers to support your position for the others?

First two series of games are cancelled, now. MLB says they have made their "final offer," which is always a mature approach to negotiations.

Quote
Manfred said the league and union have not made plans for future negotiations and that players won't be paid for missed games.

"My deepest hope is we get an agreement quickly," Manfred said. "I'm really disappointed we didn't make an agreement."

Pretty hard to get to an agreement quickly when there are no plans to resume negotiations and one side has said they are done negotiating.

Josh would be better served to actually hear the entire Manfred statement before commenting.

Like the part about not ever having a "take it or leave it" stance.

There has been no indication that talks will not continue.  Just likely at least a day break since the players flew out of town.

Still optimistic but sucks to not have a 162.

Kid, I heard his claim not to have a take it or leave it stance.

All that means is that he is talking out of both sides of his mouth.

"Just likely at least a day break..."

Kid, taking a break would not preclude their having scheduled a next session. They hadn't as of that post.

Right

Takes 2 to tango

I think T Clark stews...takes the approach at least for now  that the union must come with yet another offer.

And no.  Of course nobody is getting paid.

Heyward accuses MLB Manfred et al of always planning to ditch games.

What he says makes sense.

Looks like the two sides are getting close, though the issue of international draft sounds like a potentially major stumbling block - players are opposed.

Also, the owners on one hand are threatening to cancel the 2nd week of games and on the other hand holding out the potential for restoring the already dropped games.

Plus the owners matched the union's $1 million fund for Spring Training workers hurt by the delayed ST and have said they will put in place another fund for regular season workers who are hurt by game cancellations.

Manfred yanked two more series of games off the schedule. The owners have established a new "you must do this or we won't negotiate on anything else.' And the players are not amused.
