There was a segment on the television news about the Homeless people, and they interviewed a lady who said that the homeless people had lived that way all of their lives and that is the only life they know, and so we do not need to help them. What an ignorant woman, some people are ignorant.

I had some wonderful friends from the Philippines who were rich Christians and they were connected with the Catholic Church and with the Government of the Philippines, and they spent their lives helping the homeless. Many of the homeless people are wonderful people, they just need help, once you spend some time helping the homeless people then it becomes so rewarding. It is hard, and you have some bad and dangerous people, but you have many kind and loving people too, you have more good than bad. And there are people from the Entertainment Industry, and other formerly wealthy people in the shelters. There are some wonderful people who go on to do great things after they receive some help.

Salute,

Tony V.

I think Chuck Tatem did his usual good job covering the Titan submarine incident. Pity he was too busy covering the tragic deaths of five rich people to bother with the deaths of 300 impoverished Pakistanis. But then, they were just deportees.

The World Is Turning against Gender Experiments on Children

Last week the United Kingdom s National Health Service announced that it would limit the use of puberty-suppressing drugs going forward. Only those children enrolled in clinical trials may be prescribed these drugs. The decision comes in response to an interim report about the infamous Tavistock gender clinic, which found there were gaps in evidencein the use of the drugs.
New guidelines will  strongly discourage families from seeking out these drugs from other sources.

The U.K. is not alone. In March, the Norwegian Healthcare Investigation Board announced its intention to revise clinical recommendations around so-called gender affirming care for minors. The updated guidelines restrict the use of puberty blockers, cross sex hormones, and transition related surgeries only to clinical research. Finland and Sweden have also pulled back on the medical experimentation on children in the name of gender ideology.
These European countries are reversing course not because they have experienced some religious revival or have been subjected to conservative culture war politics. Rather, their more publicly rationed form of healthcare provision, severely constricted by public budgets, puts a premium on showing good results and thereby limits the reach of ideological fantasy disguised in medical language.

In the US twelve states, led by Republicans, have passed restrictions on the use of off-label drugs or experimental gender surgeries on children. More red states may do the same.

There is a clear public interest in limiting the damage done to children by an ideological mania and superstitious moral panic that says our children are somehow born into the wrong bodies.

You still don't get the plagiarism thing, do you?

"There is a clear public interest in limiting the damage done to children by an ideological mania and superstitious moral panic that says our children are somehow born into the wrong bodies" is a direct quote from the National Review and should be credited.

On the other hand, nobody here thinks you write well enough to come up with such wording.

Loving the Ignore feature.

The RW arguments against such treatment have actually polarized people who might have been open to a discussion of what medical measures are appropriate for gender dysphoria.  I was open to that myself, as I think there is still much to be learned in the scientific understanding of body image dysphoria and how early one should intervene with medical measures.

I know someone who had a surgical reduction of breasts, who at that time wanted a more gender neutral body, then later had great regrets.  Better knowledge of body dysphoria and better access to a specialist in that area might have been helpful.   Polarized and morally judgmental people aren't going to fix these issues.

Red is not trying to fix anything. He is trying to destroy the country before justice finds him and tears him limb from limb. That is the republican plan. Between the republican party and The United States of America, only one can survive.

The shipwreck occurred 5 days before the confirmed explosion of the submarine. The shipwreck was reported in headline stories and followups worldwide.

BTW who is Chuck Tatem?

I understand it just fine and would be happy to discuss it with an individual smart enough to write it.  Not somebody dumb enough to steal it.

A spelling error on my part. Thank you for catching it.

Chuck Tatum is my Ace in the Hole.

And for those who have not seen it, for a 72 year old movie Ace in the Hole is a depressingly relevant and continuingly insightful movie. Billy Wilder was and remains the greatest screenwriter of all time, and my favorite director.

Quote
Herbie Cook: The old man sure looked bad. Did you see his face?

Charles Tatum: Yeah.

Herbie Cook: Like the faces of those folks you see outside a coal mine with maybe 84 men trapped inside.

Charles Tatum: One man's better than 84. Didn't they teach you that?

Herbie Cook: Teach me what?

Charles Tatum: Human interest. You pick up the paper, you read about 84 men or 284, or a million men, like in a Chinese famine. You read it, but it doesn't stay with you. One man's different, you want to know all about him. That's human interest.
