Two Tennessee lawmakers have proposed a bill that would permit a biological father to petition a court to halt a woman who is pregnant with his unborn child from getting an abortion, The Hill reported on Tuesday.

The bill, which was introduced by state Sen. Mark Pody and state Rep. Jerry Sexton, states that once the injunction is issued, the court must hold a hearing with both parties within 14 days. If a woman violates the injunction and obtains an abortion, "the court may hold the respondent in civil or criminal contempt and punish the respondent in accordance with the law."`

And what do you think of this proposed legislation, Kid?

Care to share your opinion?

The Warren Hastings (British India ruler) impeachment trial was ongoing during the drafting of the Constitution.  The framers mentioned it during their deliberations.  He was out of office when his impeachment began.  So they were aware of the issue of former officials being impeached -- the Hastings impeachment was a big deal in Britain in 1787-79, until it dragged on for 5 more years.  Some US states specifically mentioned former officials; Delaware restricted impeachment to only former officials.  Etc.  It seems to be why the Constitution talks about civil officials in one section regarding impeachment but then later switches to persons.  That is, to include ex-officials.  I thought the House managers did a good job on that.

The Hastings case from the time of drafting the Constitution + Belknap from the Civil War era make it pretty clear ex-officials are impeachable.  Plus the Senate voted that ex-officials are impeachable.  The Senate shall try "all impeachments" (which would include ex-officials).  Overall a very strong case.

None of this negates the fact that THEY ARE JUST BEING PRICKS BY IMPEACHING A SECOND TIME.

Dems had their win - then another - and could have run away with them.

But now have given the former president a victory - and the nation more headaches.

(a) You are a far bigger prick for thinking this was about being a prick. He blatantly stirred the pot. Just as Mitch, dipshit. If his only defense was the bogus claim about the Constitutional limitation, that is no defense at all - but an acknowledgment of his having acted criminally.

(b) No, the former president didn't get a headache and the gutlessness of the GOP did, in fact, give the nation more headaches - it has shown how worthless the impeachment clause is for the presidency.

(c) Watch the case against Trump brought by Rep. Bennie Thompson (D - MS), in his private capacity. I imagine you will find that establishes Trump's culpability in a way no sham jury members from the GOP would.

That green new deal doesn’t look so good in Texas right now.
Congratulations! That is by far the stupidest thing posted today. And you were going up against the antipodal idiot and kiid, so it is quite an accomplishment.
Actually it was the most observant post of the day.

You understand it's a grid problem,  not a green energy problem,  right?   Coal plants were offline,  too.   In fact the tech for solar is the kind of tech that reduces grid woes.

Idiot.

He doesn't care.

It doesn't fit his talking points.

There is no question former President Trump bears moral responsibility," McConnell wrote in an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal of the riot. "His supporters stormed the Capitol because of the unhinged falsehoods he shouted into the world's largest megaphone. His behavior during and after the chaos was also unconscionable, from attacking Vice President Mike Pence during the riot to praising the criminals after it ended."

"I was as outraged as any member of Congress," the Kentucky Republican continued. "But senators take our own oaths. Our job wasn't to find some way, any way, to inflict a punishment. The Senate's first and foundational duty was to protect the Constitution."

He added that "after intense study, I concluded that Article II, Section 4 limits impeachment and conviction to current officers."

(a) Trump was guilty, as far as McConnell was concerned.

(b) He had to lie about Section 4, since the only time it has ever been before the Senate prior to this, the Senate concluded they had the power to act against former officials:

Quote
On March 2, 1876, just minutes before the House of Representatives was scheduled to vote on articles of impeachment, Belknap raced to the White House, handed Grant his resignation, and burst into tears.

This failed to stop the House. Later that day, members voted unanimously to send the Senate five articles of impeachment, charging Belknap with “criminally disregarding his duty as Secretary of War and basely prostituting his high office to his lust for private gain.”

The Senate convened its trial in early April, with Belknap present, after agreeing that it retained impeachment jurisdiction over former government officials. During May, the Senate heard more than 40 witnesses, as House managers argued that Belknap should not be allowed to escape from justice simply by resigning his office.

Of course, the fellows of Belknap's party, as with Trump's, 145 years later, chose almost unanimously to defend him by claiming lack of jurisdiction, though that issue had been voted upon then, also. He was acquitted.

How many of the 74 million do you think you get in '24?

Wrong question, Kid.

How many of the 74 million do you think you keep in '24?

We don't need them to win. We win if we keep ours, but we also win if you get many fewer of those 74 million.

And you will.

Bank missed the part where just by going through with impeaching, not even convicting Trump the Democrats now need to face a Harris impeachment, if not others down the line.

Cooler heads will likely prevail - but rest assured there will be discussion - and a need/ask for public explanation by the VP, minimally.
Just what, precisely, do you think Harris would be impeached for?

Being a Democratic VP (or President) after the Dems (and GOP members) impeached Trump twice.

Retribution, nothing else.

He admitted as much earlier.
That’s a lie.
Typical Josh. Ignorant

You’ve burst Red’s bubble, josh. Impeaching Harris was the one though keeping Red warm through the unfolding decline and fall of the republican party.

Why are you responding to the proven liar and scum, Ward, again?

People kept telling me to stop. I stopped.

🚨 This is a serious situation. We are trying to avoid a *statewide* power failure. If you have power, do your part to conserve energy!!!🚨
MAP UPDATED WITH NEW INFO AT 4:30PM WITH CENTERPOINT NUMBERS NOWN INCLUDED
There is a “systemwide power failure” across Texas. Nuclear, coal, natural gas, and wind power generation have actually gone offline. These are now “controlled outages” that will last for extended periods of time. There are no longer any rolling blackouts.
If you have no power, you may not have it back for a day or two. And if you have power, you still may lose it. (UPDATE: CenterPoint says if your power is out now, you probably won’t get it back today.)
Conserve energy, and do everything you can to stay warm.
We will get through this, but it’s going to be a challenge. Hang in there, friends.
NOTE: The map is not 100% accurate, but it’s the best we have right now. CenterPoint last told us around 1.1 million of their customers have no power.
⚠️ If you have power, the best way to love on your fellow Texans is to CONSERVE, CONSERVE, CONSERVE! This is not the day to catch up on doing the laundry! Put the thermostat at 65 or lower. Your neighbors without power have indoor temperature closer to 50, and it’s only going to get COLDER tonight.

and Mitch said Trump was guilty after the Senate trial.

This is a misleading statement within this conversation

Guilty of bad judgement.  Bad behavior.  (Mitch's thoughts, that is)

What he was impeached for - probably not so much.

Reconstructing what Mitch said to make it more palatable to you would work better had he not been very clear.

Trump incited a riot.

As you pointed out, yourself, the only reason he pretends he did not vote to convict was the bogus post-presidency claim.

(posted for the second time)

Unlike what just occurred.

It is true that cooler heads did not prevail - they lost despite 57 votes to convict.

Analysis has been that McConnell could have brought some votes with him - how many we do not know - had he done a Cassidy.

But standing by a "how can I vote to convict in a case I said shouldn't be brought?" is pretty firm wisdom.

No, it's sophistry of the same sort he engaged in over Garland, asshole.

Dems would rule if they could avoid liberal elite lost causes such as amnesty, open borders, over restrictive conservatism and ignoring the veteran.

Still can't explain your "liberal elite" bullshit.

And still haven't responded to the posts on your "most diverse country" claim.

Now you've added "over restrictive conservatism," by which I think you mean "overly restrictive conservation laws," but I'm not sure.

So, while you aren't explaining the other two, can you explain that one? Try not to choke on your polluted air or water while you do it. And pay no attention to the ongoing climate crisis, either.

I thought both McCain and Romney were reasonable candidates. Ditto Bob Dole.

But it's true, what you say about the popular vote. Once in the last 8 presidential elections is not very good at all!

I wonder how many bank accounts Biden has in China.

And how many patents his daughter got from them.
