Something funny about this paragraph from CNN describing effects of today's earthquake...

One video filmed in the city of Noto showed crates of eggplants spilled across the road. Parts of the street were flooded in shallow water, where fences, roofs and small shrubs had fallen down...

Eggplants, shrubs.....roofs.  One of those seems orders of magnitude more significant.
The coverage of the Japan earthquake reminded me of.Claud Cockburn's winning entry among The (London) Times staff to create the most boring headline: Small Earthquake in Chile, Not Many Dead.

Ha!

If a small shrub falls in an earthquake and no one hears it....

Andrew Bolt

Australia has a loyalty problem, and the fault lies with politicians and woke media whose identity politics are turning us into a nation of tribes divided by race or religion.

#####

Indeed, Mr Bolt.
One suspects that Mr. Bolt's real problem, and yours, is not the division of race and religion, but that his race and his religion no longer enjoy unquestioned dominance.

His article is about citizenship for immigrants, who later it is discovered after their deaths in Lebanon, were Hezbollah fighters, their coffins draped in Hezbollah flags, they 'martyrs'.

Readers' comments:
"Dual citizenship should be banned".

Great idea, that.

My wife has dual citizenship and it works just fine for her and many others we know in the same situation, ass hat. Making rules for anecdotal exceptions is idiotic.

Both. But then her homeland is European and I suspect it is only dual citizenship of a certain ethnoreligious group that offends you.

Joe has forgotten about 9-11 and the Boston bombathon. Quite the mess until Donnie cleaned it up. Put agents in the mosques and halted immigration from hot spots. He was right about somethings?

LOL
You must be asleep.
Obviously you missed the show of force recently in America in the streets...and the anti-semitism at universities in America and elsewhere that's happening today...at record levels.
You're in for a shock when you wake up!

Last night my Sky News played video of a ranting Islamic preacher in my world all fired up and shall we say, spewing forth not so nice things about Jews, and Christians.
I turned to mrs bambu seated next to me on the lounge and said:
"Christians?...that's us!"

I saw on the news that a corporation was concerned about workers quitting their jobs and taking trade secrets to other companies, and I have a couple of comments on that.

If the corporations want to retain the workers then they need to give them incremental wage increases as they get more experience and become better trained and more skilled, over time as you become better then they need to pay you more if they want to retain you. Henry Ford paid his workers very well so that he could retain his workers and so that he would not have to keep retraining unskilled workers, plus he wanted to build great cars which were built by well paid craftsmen.

Also, part of the reason people accept low paying jobs is so that they can get into the company and learn. When I worked at Universal Studios I was working for minimum wage but I was learning the whole time, and I gained valuable experience. The same as when I was a cook, I learned how to cook and I learned how to run a casino, which would be good if I ever open a night club in Rome, or whatever. I was also low paid when I managed the dog kennel, and when I did construction, etc, it was all low pay but I gained experience. And it is all in my poetry, and in my writing, etc. Experience is valuable. Also, when I worked for Suzanne Pleshette then I was able to meet all of the stars in Hollywood, that was a fun job, and I got to drive Hal Needham's Maserati, etc.

As people learn then they become more valuable, and the companies need to give them raises in pay in order to retain them, and also their experience is valuable when it comes to self employment as well as working for others. You cannot make people starve, and then make it impossible for them to earn more money working for themselves or for another company.

Experience is valuable, and they cannot take that away. ( And experience is valuable for writers, poets, actors, filmmakers, etc, too. )

Salute,

Tony V.

Yes, I'm not the brighest star in the universe, but I don't have to be.
One only needs a bare minimum IQ to see it all clearly

They got America 9/11 because America believed they were all nice people, "everyone in the world is a lovely person" if you like.
"Come in, all welcome."

El Al airlines had their cabin doors locked...tight.
They also questioned passengers as to why they were flying to Israel.
Watched everyone like a hawk.

America wasn't "scared" enough, didn't think the bad people were capable of hijacking planes and flying them into buildings...seemed to think they were all living in caves, not in a university in Germany, in an exclusive prayer room they'd had set up for them, with computers...where they happily plotted 9/11.

Mexico is 100 miles away from Anaheim, and Mexico is our number 1 trade partner. We need to work together to improve relations between the USA and Mexico.

Ethnocentric Americans need to look at the Ghettos of the USA, and they need to look at the 50,000 homeless people in Los Angeles alone, and they need to look at the prisons all over America where our people are locked up, and they need to look at our asshole cops who are just as corrupt and abusive as the cops in Mexico. Sure, America has nice areas where the crime is low, such as Malibu, but Mexico has nice areas too such as Acapulco, etc.

And Mexico is building new high speed trains, and new airports, and new resorts, etc, lots of money is being invested in Mexico, and Mexico is going to be beautiful after a little money is spent there. Mexico is also building schools, and libraries, etc. Mexico can also invest in ports, etc, and Mexican Truck Drivers can join the Teamsters Union, etc.

The refugees from Ukraine can come to Acapulco, Mexico, and they can have good lives. And the Russians can come to Mexico as well, and others.

Mexico is beautiful, and we just need to spend some money making Mexico nice and we need to educate the people there, etc. And Mexico is a great place for Americans to retire, etc, people from Minnesota can retire to Acapulco, etc.

Mexico is nice, and Youth For Christ, and the Catholic Church, and Kiwanis International, and others, can work to make Mexico nicer and to reduce the crime. We can have a whole population where they obey the 10 Commandments and the Golden Rule. Mexico can be nice. We just need to spend a little money in Mexico, with some tender loving care, and Mexico can be nice.

Salute,

Hay fever flaring again from all the straw man arguments.

Exactly what happened.
After 9/11 the prayer rooms were closed.
The cabin doors were locked.
New computers were purchased.
etc.

The 'Global Islamic Caliphate ruling the world' clan seem to fancy their chances now, seem to believe this is their time, now that the self-loathing West is so accommodating, so friendly, so tolerant, so accepting of multicultural enclaves everywhere.
