Lots of astroturfing going on out there...

https://www.salon.com/2022/04/06/stealth-school-board-candidates-are-everywhere-but-stop-the-steal-isnt-working-for-them/

Article rambles a lot towards the end, but still a useful wake up call on stealth candidates.

https://stanfordreview.org/boaler-professor

This is about the woman who had a bunch of Stanford U students talking about the pressure they felt when labeled gifted, but it is all better now that they are at Stanford and no longer have to deal with the label.

She's involved with the California push to stop having math as one of the main high school subjects, getting rid of the paths to calc in high school and getting rid of middle school algebra. She insists that innate giftedness is non-existent.

She also gets $5k/hour and threatened somebody who tweeted about it (but who didn't mention her name), claiming to have involved the police.

All white school board is mulling changing school names BACK to Confederate generals.

These boards want ban fiction based on slavery because of the trauma it could cause to white children but give fuck all about the trauma to Black children of having their schools honoring the people who fought to keep slavery in place.

This a defense of white supremacy

Good news, bad news.

Good to see some of the astroturfing is being rejected.  Parents want their kids to learn something and have critical thinking skills

Sorry to see Virginia regressing, and suspect we'll see a lot of this slip sliding away across the South.  People who for most of their lives couldn't have given the tiniest shit about Stonewall Jackson and suddenly singing ballads about his gallantry.

The 3-member group t\hat turned down the book seems unclear on their reasons, but at least some of it was "we'd have to hear the government's side of it."

Mississippi stands out as one of the poorest states in America. With a poverty rate of approximately 19.5% as of 2020.

-----------

Many of our new immigrants are educated, and can go straight to work as teachers in Mississippi, and in Kentucky, and in Arkansas, and Tennessee, etc.

And we need to build Libraries and book stores, etc, all over America, and we must work to teach our people.

We also need to put a fresh coat of paint on our ghettos, and we need to spend some money to put in cobblestones, etc, and fountains, and to put in nice public landscaping, etc, and we can build coffee shops in our ghettos, etc.

And Father Boyle and Homeboy Industries from Los Angeles can help all around the world, including in Mississippi, etc.

Salute,

Tony V.
