---Russia has said it does not plan to attack Ukraine and that it does not want war. It has made no reference to a desire to redraw Germany's borders.---

Wendy Carrillo

1 hour

Hello from Sacramento!

Spending my weekend reading through our #CABudget and #CALeg.

With a budget surplus, there is a lot of great opportunities. One thing I have been thinking about is expanding the green canopy in urban areas and low income communities, especially those surrounded by fwys and industrial zones. More trees means cleaner air and healthier communities.

Have a safe and healthy weekend!

---------

We can hire the homeless people to plant trees and to lay cobblestones, etc, and we can hire workers from Homeboy Industries and from other groups which help people.

We can get ideas from Rome, Italy, and from Greece, as we build piazzas and as we do outdoor landscaping, etc.

And in Los Angeles I picture an angel theme with angel statues and with angel water fountains, etc.

And of course we have Hollywood.

Salute,

Tony V.

A competent reader would understand that is not the same as labeling you are a "lying shut-in".

A competent poster (a) would not make such a specious argument and (b) would have stopped this banal and pointless back and forth ages ago.

The second comment applies to both parties. The first only applies to Ham.

First of these to appear post-midnight EDT 1/28-29/2022 earns a 5 day time out. Then a 30. We'll see what happens at that point.

Any lawyering about what I mean by "these" counts as well, but need not wait until after midnight. That starts the moment this is posted, by my figuring.

Anyone in Russia who stands up against Putin could end up in jail, or dead, or in a mental hospital, or whatever, so we need to support the good people in Russia and give them courage to stand up for peace.

We need to build up a big force against war, we need to support the good people in Russia and give them courage to stand together against Putin for peace.

How do you propose we support "the good people in Russia" and "give them courage?"

We have the biggest force in the world.

We have the biggest force in the world.

There are lot of ways we can work together for peace...

We can have global concerts around the world at the same time as a Bon Jovi concert in Moscow for peace.

We can make the peacemakers in Russia famous like Greta Thunberg. And we can give them media attention. People in America can make You Tube videos and stuff in support of peace. All of our global celebrities can all stand up for peace and we can support the good Russians who want peace. We can broadcast good stuff for peace on Russian Rock and Roll radio.

We can continue to look for ways to support the good people in Russia and we can look for ways to give the good people courage to stand up for peace.

Once enough people stand up for peace, then people will no longer be afraid. And as each person stands up for peace then they help the next guy to have courage to stand up for peace.

And we have the United Nations, etc. We need to support the people in Russia who want peace.

Salute,

Tony V.

None of that answers my questions.

I asked, "How do you propose we support "the good people in Russia" and "give them courage?""

You replied (in part):
"We can continue to look for ways to support the good people in Russia and we can look for ways to give the good people courage to stand up for peace."

If we make peacemakers in Russia a tenth as famous as Greta Thunberg, they will most likely disappear. At best, they will be the next version of Solzhenitsyn.

"Once enough people stand up for peace..."

Have you not been paying attention?!

Pantera played in Moscow in 1991...

https://youtu.be/WBIfg0NyDIM

There is no reason why Jon Bon Jovi cannot play now in a concert for peace in Moscow, with concerts globally in support of peace. Imagine 500,000 Russians in Moscow all demanding peace, while crowds around the world join them in pleas for peace.

And people need to know that the Russians do not all agree with Putin. We need to make public videos of Russians marching for peace, and Russians speaking out for peace.

Plus, it is time for the Russians to elect a new leader and move ahead into a better future. The KGB days and the USSR days need to fade into history.

And many of the Russians are Christians, and many of the Russians respect Pope Francis. So, the Pope can help us to keep the peace.

We cannot just let the world go to war because of Putin, we cannot give Putin that much power, we out-number Putin. The good people of the world who want peace out-number Putin. We need to speak up for peace before it is too late and people start dying.

Lining up tanks and amassing troops at the border with the Ukraine is wrong-minded, and we need to let Putin know that we are not going to allow a war to happen just because he is insane. We need to find the people in Russia who want peace, and  we need to make the voices of the peacemakers loud and clear.

Condoleezza Rice is an expert on Russia, and she is still young, she is 67, she can be brought in to help the Biden administration on the issue of Russia.

And the private people and the celebrities all need to speak up for peace.

Here is an article about the Russians wanting peace...

https://usclocknews.com/world/russians-hope-for-peace-as-the-world-talks-of-war/

More journalists need to report on the good Russians who want peace.

We need to give a voice to the people in Russia who want peace, and we need for the world to see that not all Russians are bad people and that many Russians want peace.

Pantera played Moscow. Great. Did it bring anything akin to peace?

I played in Kiev and Moscow in 1973. It was great. Nobody noticed or cared.

The only way Bon Jovi gets to play in Russia is with Putin's permission. If Bon Jovi's there to try to rile up the Russian people, why on Earth would Putin agree to it?

Condi Rice was National Security Advisor and then Sec'y of State over an 8 year period, with the then president's ear. If she couldn't change our relationship with Russia then, what makes you think she is better equipped to do the job now? Might as well bring back Kerry or HRC. No, I don't think their advice would fis the problem, either.

The problem is that Putin is getting old and is seeing his chance to make his stamp on history fading. We (the U.S.) don't have a way for him to make a mark he thinks is worthy of making without sacrificing far more than we are willing to - and I think that's right.

You want folks to stop thinking about the Soviet era?! The person you need to start with is Putin and good luck with that!

It is not the good people of Russia that might have a ghost of a chance of stopping Putin. It's the bad people - the ones who covet his position and who think his time has passed. A coup is likelier to end this threat than diplomacy is - and I would not rate that highly.
