It's good to see this excerpt getting some exposure on a popular website.  I followed this story a few years back when the NYT Sunday Magazine did a long feature story on this sordid business.  Corporate capitalism has rarely worked harder at gaslighting the nation than it did with climate denial.   Truly despicable.

Climate Denial?
What exactly does that mean?
No one denies there has been a change in climate as the world accommodates  a growing population now topping 7 billion people.
How could it not be changing? When has it never changed?
The question is how do we adapt?
Certainly not by eliminating the energy sources that keep all of us alive and growing economically.
Especially since the Energy Companies are the ones leading us to long term solutions.

What is most ironic is alarmists like AOC who Predict the end of the planet within a few years without the elimination of carbon sources while egging on a nuclear war over a border dispute.

Jesus.

This makes not one lick of sense.

Jesus.

You suck too much juice.

We cannot go on carrying you any more unless you change your life up and cut your consumption, you fat bastard.

If you gaslit less for instance you could help the planet and lower your energy bill.

Neruda ain't a Buddha.

https://www.npr.org/2022/10/15/1127988385/pablo-neruda-chile-metoo

But maybe should still be read, his poetry standing on its own merits.  That's one side of the debate in Chile.

Of note, I wrote a poetry book a long time ago, it is a fantastic book and I would have been a huge success as a poet a long time ago if I had a rich family and could publish my book. I also wrote a movie script a long time ago, and Hugh Hefner liked my script, it is a great script, if I had a rich family then I would have been wealthy from my movie script a long time ago. I also managed a dog kennel for 6 years, and was a cook at a casino, I could easily manage my own night club, or own my own dog kennel for the stars in Malibu, if I had a rich family and support.

I can still publish my book, and make my movie, and have some success in life. And I hope to find a wife who is smarter and better than me, I want to find a good wife who can help me with Business and with life, we can run a night club in Rome, and we can produce and write movies and television shows, and maybe make wine in Tuscany, etc. I hope to find a wife who will be a good partner in life. After I publish my book, and sell my movie script, then I might go to Italy and find a wife, and maybe I can get a wife with a big Italian family, and my wife can help our family that we can create to do well.

We will see what happens.

If I had a Father who published books like Carly Simon then I could have been rich and famous a long time ago as a poet, and that would have led to other things.

My Brother married Roy Rogers and Dale Evans' Granddaughter, Kristen, so you just never know who you can find as a wife. You never know who love will bring into one's life. And my wife can help me with Business, etc.

Salute,

Tony V.

Everyone here, I think, has heard your Life story several times.  No one is saying you
are a bad person, or poet or playwright.  I am saying your recommendation to help
the homeless and blaming, in part, the Canadian movie business is just plain unhelpful.
Maybe your time would be better spent away from Elba.
Take 6 months off and come back with a happy ending!

This ass crack asking someone else to depart is comical.

AOC is heckled for behaving like a NEOCON!
She could find solace in ELBA
She would be welcomed here, I am sure.
Sounds like she ducked the hecklers complaints.

Newsflash: forum members have lives and don't obsessively follow every AOC story that gets spun by the Right Wing outrage factory.  So, I have no idea what whatever sounds like because you provided no link to whatever tidbit caused you to tumesce.  Of course for you all she has to do is show a bit of leg.
Then you do not watch or read news out of your comfort zone.
But we are always grateful for your reports on dead poets.

I think smoking is the only comparison from corporations.

The Feds, of course, have done it bunches of times.

We have a police problem.

https://www.cnn.com/2022/10/16/us/atlanta-police-stop-lawsuit-reaj/index.html

Race is one part, here. Civil asset forfeiture is another. And the use of the airport's jetways for these stops is a third, IMO.

The GOP doesn't care.

"law and order" is a sham. No news, just more evidence.

The Left has a problem with Crime as an election issue.

A Harvard/Harris poll asked if  the  Crime Spike across the USA is the result of
Woke Politicians
Or
Other Reasons.

64 percent blamed Woke Politicians
( 50 percent dems, 75 per cent GOP, 60 percent IND)

The fact that a majority of Democrats are not just ceding that wokeness is a problem in the abstract, but that it is directly responsible for one of the defining issues of the 2022 election (crime and public safety)  is bad news for the Left. It is  also yet another indication that the contemporary culture war can and should be a winner for Republicans, if they are willing to run aggressively on them, these are not boutique right wing base issues. They have implications that are felt across the political spectrum.

Re: America needs to get tough on crime
« Reply #1664 on: October 17, 2022, 11:57:07 AM »

The republican approach to elections is a running wave of white on democracy crime. America has not done enough to brutally punish republican criminals enough to disrupt and discourage their continuing evil criminal acts.

There is time remaining to overrun, raise and level republican structures, organizations and figureheads.

The republicans have repeatedly shown that all they do with power is destroy lives, wealth and jobs, along with perverting religion to gratify their sexual hang ups.

When you see a republican, do what you need to to stop the crimes they are in progress of committing even if those crimes are not immediately apparent to the naked eye.
