Florence Debarre, an evolutionary biologist at the French National Center for Scientific Research discovered genetic sequences of the virus that researchers in China, led by George Gao, former head of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, had uploaded to a public genomic database called GISAID. The sequences were subsequently taken down but not before several other researchers from different countries downloaded and analyzed them. Samples containing viral RNA, which had been collected at the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market in early 2020, also contained genetic material from raccoon dogs, a foxlike type of canid apparently sold at the market, as well as other animals. The genetic material came from the same areas of the market where COVID was found, suggesting that the raccoon dogs may have been infected with the virus (possibly by other animals) and could have been the first to spread the virus to humans.

Well, suppose it is true.

Then explain how the left has been bellowing for three years that the previous evidence clearly pointed to the wet market?

These animals are sold in such markets, as the article made clear to those who read it.  The racoon dog DNA traces, evidence shared with the larger scientific community, add to the strength of the basic theory that there was an animal intermediary between bats and humans.   Epidemiology tends to work on accumulations of evidence from various sources, and often finds more than one intermediary species.  Pangolins could be another, as could red foxes, palm civets and mink.   This has nothing to do with the "Left" and is about various lines of scientific evidence that point towards the similarity of many many disease outbreaks from places where there is low sanitation, high human proximity, and animal species that carry a virus.

So I posted, at some expenditure of time, how this new evidence does in fact lend further support to wet market transmission.  Are you really unable to connect your question to the bolded sections of the Scientific American clip?

My clips also clarify how the data was uploaded and shared, another matter on which you seemed concerned.  Various sources, thanks to access to the Chinese-collected samples, could analyze the genomes of those samples and find the raccoon dog sequences.

No, but it was apparently given lesser weight by intelligence analysts not epidemiologists who were writing their intelligence reports.  Pretty much every scientist in relevant fields felt that was a mistake, especially given the new genomic DNA evidence.

Not bent on anything but seeing what genomic trace evidence can reveal.  The bolded words are incorrect.  There is no genomic trace data at all supporting a lab leak, let alone genomic trace data of equal weight to what we now have from the wet market samples.  If such data exists, it has not been shared.  I would welcome any such data if you have it available.  I simply want to know how the pathogen moved from bats to the human population, as do most scientists.  Given that 99% of viral infections pass to humans in this way, especially through densely packed Asian and Third World markets where human-animal proximity is high, it would be wise to entertain DNA evidence that supports this as yet another case of such zoonotic transmission. 

Actual scientists in those fields, like a friend of mine who works in a microbiology lab in Canada, are not interested in denying or ignoring any valid data sets.  Such narratives of denial are concocted in the media to create drama and stir up exciting scenarios of partisan battle.  That's why you're likely to find better reporting from journals like Scientific American or Nature.  I posted one such report from SciAm for people here to read.

But we do know for certain that Covid came from China whose communist leaders are purposely lying to prevent the world learning the truth which is unforgivable since we are all at risk in pandemics.
