They're shocked to discover that slave traders waited on the coast of Africa and waited for their partners, Black people, to round up other Black people and sell them for bottles of gin and mirrors.
Astounded to discover that "slavery" derived from "Slavs" of eastern Europe who were enslaved by Muslims.

Who is astounded by any of this?  It's well known that tribal chieftains and nobles participated in the W African slave trade.  If a tribe member owed a debt, they would let themselves be traded to release their family from debt, having no idea what they were headed for in the Americas.  Many were duped by being told they would work off the debt in a short span of time. 

As YG would say, go outside, get some fresh air.
