So if I understand you and bambu ilk's argument: if more people had guns fewer people would die from gun violence.

Who knows...
...increased physical barriers and better armed security by good people could lessen the death toll from gun violence...or more of the people dying would be the bad people intent on evil.

Until you can come up with a reason, besides easy access to guns, that mass shootings do not happen nearly as frequently (or at all) in other countries, where presumably there are plenty of people that hate others too, your constant droning that "more guns make you safer" seems kind of silly.

Of course there are less deaths from guns in countries where there are less guns.
The percentages I read the other day were:

US  80%
Canada 40%
Australia 11%
Britain 4%

But, America's culture is guns...so that has to be worked within.

We used to have a culture of slavery as well. The redeeming quality of American culture is that it can be changed when a better idea comes around.

You should try it and vote yes.

Yeach, there is a Constitutional right to mistake your hate for religious doctrine.
Hate.?
You may want to read the case history.
If there was any hate it was directed at the Catholic Couple in the form of discrimination in violation of the first amendment.

The case in question involves discrimination against a couple who run a business. They were denied inclusion in a group activity of similar business people solely because they followed their religious teachings about marriage.  The group was found in violation of the first amendment of the US Constitution.
The Pope and his opinion of American Catholics is a non issue.
We learned through John Kennedy that his presidency (and our laws) transcended  any direction from Rome that is in conflict with the Constitution.
Yes, their hatred is protected by the Constitution. It is still hatred disguised
Hatred of what? Or whom?
Is having a belief based on Catholic Teaching reduced by you to hatred because you have a different belief.?
That is a  definition of bigotry.

The Pope agrees with me.
Irrelevant, immaterial, and incorrect, especially since the Pope does not profess hatred toward anyone.

I thought shades of Hamilton Burger getting dick slapped by Perry Mason for a question were. Mason replied That question was Incompetent Irrelevant and Immaterial!

The Yes vote is not a better idea, though.
All it will do if it wins the referendum is enshrine 'race' into the Constitution, cause division, wreck the parliamentary system, and be the first step in the "Voice, Treaty, Truth" manifesto of Indigenous activists.
The "Truth" being,..reparations, sovereignty etc.
"Sovereignty" = "absolute power/authority".
How does 'civil war' grab you?
Some learned Indigenous Elders are firmly in the No camp, fully understanding what the ramifications of a Yes vote will be.

Bambu is slow, but he can follow. Usually he follows absolute assholes badly to create his own debased form of assholery we call bambuisms.

It is no wonder Bambu-ilk cannot fathom federating to better reflect clear reality and treat it as if it were as fearsome and impenetrable as voodoo and nuclear physics are to them.

So aboriginal people who have lived there for 65,000 years, want a voice in parliament?  And Australia has never made any formal treaty with them?  Tell me how this will wreck parliament, as you put it, Bambi.  Seems like the main problem would be if the Voice turns out to be symbolic and toothless.

But generally, when you include people in a democratic system, it improves relationship between their communities and the rest of the nation.  Reuters informs that voting yes aims to (quote) help mend fraught ties with the Aboriginal community and unite the nation, and the advisory body will help prioritise Indigenous health, education, employment and housing.(unquote).

To rectify racial/ethnic discrimination, as has been proved around the world, you do have to formally recognize that race/ethnicity.  Pretending everyone is colorblind is generally  a way for white people to feel good about themselves and ignore fixing systemic racism.

If I'm standing with my shoe on someone's face, I am not going to help that person by saying there are no people on the ground and it is divisive to act like  there are.

In 1967 there was a referendum...and Indigenous people were made equal citizens.
Everybody equal. We are ONE.
Lovely.

But oh no, can't have one, gotta have two, Black and White[and everyone else, from all the other countries on earth].
Two races, two flags, two nations.

Oh well, bambu-ilk tried, but failed...to have 'one'...The Seekers tried with their song "I Am Australian" [being reviewed by all and sundry on Youtube now]...

"We are ONE, but we are many...and from all the lands on earth we come
We'll share a dream, and sing with ONE voice
I am, you are, we are Australian."

Allowing polities to have autonomy and representation in the system to which they contribute.

There are Indigenous Members of Parliament [Reps if you like] in the House and Indigenous Senators in the Senate in Australia today, duly elected by voters in their electorates the same as all others.
Equality.
Everyone equal.

"Sovereignty was never ceded [by Aboriginal People]" cries one Indigenous Senator activist.
She's firmly in the NO camp, she wants sovereignty. No Voice for her, she wants the lot.
