Joe Biden on Tuesday released his 2019 tax returns, which show he and his wife, Jill, paid nearly $300,000 in federal income tax last year and had an adjusted gross income of about $985,000.

The Bidens took advantage of tax code to save more than 500k since 2016.

kiidcarter8 doesn't know what a payroll tax is if he thinks speaking fees should be described as payroll, and is led by the nose by people misrepresenting it to him.

Too busy today to explain it to him, and it would be pointless anyway.

Compton cop shoot case -

Suspect apprehended.

So, what do you suppose happens if instead of the ambush being successful one of the cops in the parked police vehicle sees the suspect in time and fires upon him, taking his life.

DiAnte Murray.  What ties does he have?  What was his motive, his reasoning?  One can hope this was just a case of mental derangement.  But was he motivated by anything in particular to take cops' lives?

Hi kiidcarter8!  Catch any of the debate?

Because if you had then you would know that, whatever the circumstances and motivations of the incident you highlight above, Biden took the time Tuesday night to look directly into the camera and denounce violence toward law enforcement.

Pretty stark contrast with Trump's turning an opportunity to denounce White Supremacist violence into a call for them to take up arms, no?

Banks was saying something about craven GOP Senators will be all pretending they didn't hear Trump's comment on "stand by" -- how about pretending it was just a verbal glitch...

From WaPo morning report....

Sen. Tim Scott (S.C.), the only Black Republican in the Senate, said Wednesday that Trump should “correct” his comments in response to a debate question about whether he would condemn self-described white supremacists.

Scott spoke to reporters on Capitol Hill a day after Trump, in response to a question from debate moderator Chris Wallace, refused to condemn self-proclaimed white supremacists.

Asked whether he found Trump’s comments concerning, Scott said, “I think he misspoke in response to Chris Wallace’s comment. He was asking Chris what he wanted to say. I think he misspoke. I think he should correct it.”

"Correct it."  bwahahahahaha!

Here is the thing that always gets me about this; they want to argue that Trump doesn't actually welcome White Supremacists, its just the imprecision of his language.  You know, he has this blustery way of talking that sometimes makes it hard to hear his point.  He's a New Yorker!

But here is why this is bullshit; they can see the responses to what Trump said.  There have now been numerous stories over the last 36 hours or so about how White Supremacists see Trump's words as a call to arms.  Same thing happened after Charlottesville.  The reaction to what Trump said couldn't be clearer.

You want to claim it was unintentional?  Fine.  All the more reason for Trump to speak clearly and denounce White Supremacy.  Get on camera, read it from a teleprompter, doesn't matter if his heart isn't in it.  Just read the fucking thing.  "I denounce White Supremacy and Racism in all its forms, and reject any attempts they might make to physically intimidate or do harm in the name of my reelection."  if it was a verbal gaffe, a mistake, then correct it.  And if he can't do something as simple as that then he is unfit to be President of the United States.   It really is as simple as that.

Its the same exact thing with Russia's support.  He wants to say he isn't colluding with them?  Then reject their help!  Say publicly and clearly that they will not benefit in any way from their interference in the 2020 election.  But he won't do that!

Rick Santorum said Tuesday night that it is unfair to ask the "president" to renounce his supporters because it is something he really doesn't like to do.  Couldn't have been a more telling moment.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/presidential-debates-rules-changes-cutting-microphones/

Here is the simple truth on this; Trump has no command of the issues.  Zero.  He probably knows less about policy and how things work now, as "president" than he did in 2016 when he at least did some work trying to get the job.

So his only option is to try to bluster his way through, and try to bully Biden into a stuttering episode his campaign can play and replay to try to argue that Biden is unfit.  That's it.  That's all he has.

So Trump is either not going to agree to the rule changes (I really, really doubt he agrees to this, and is probably welcoming the chance to point to the rule changes as evidence of bias so that he can back out of further debates) or he is going interrupt off mic and bluster and insult when he is on it.  Ultimately the format or the rules don't matter, and weren't the problem Tuesday night.  This is who Trump is.

And hard to see how this is going to work in the "town hall" format anyway.  I'm sure we will all tune in to find out.

Also will be interesting to see how the Administration's lack of any actual policies will play out in the VP debate, as Pence doesn't have the same option.  My guess is he will just make up a bunch of stuff to make it seem like the Administration is actually competent and functioning.  He has good practice with that after "heading" the Coronavirus Task Force.

Anybody notice an absence of Kid's and Ward's voices in here today?!

Heh.

The night started with kiidcarter8 ready to trash talk, posting some shit about how Biden was going to need time-outs, then, for some reason, that was his last post of the evening.

I actually give the two of them credit.  I fully expected them to be here crowing about how strong Trump looked, to defend Trump's calls for voter intimidation at polling places, and to explain away his call to white supremacists to be ready.  But, just maybe, Trump's behavior has finally reached the point where even they see it as indefensible?

Ha ha.  Not holding my breath.

I think this was mentioned here once already, but I'm going to point to it again because it needs to be done.

Last night when asked specifically to denounce White Supremacy, a violent movement that has killed and committed acts of terror in the name of maintaining a racial hierarchy in this country, the man elected to be President of the United States instead told those people to "Stand By" and await orders.

Yes.  That really happened.

And no, Trump's supporters on this forum can not run from the fact that being pro-Trump is being pro racism.  Its out in the open now.  Denouncing the guy who you've spent four years defending (because Taxcuts) or staying silent are your only options right now.

Wallace should have cut Trump's mike at some point, simply to enforce the debate rules.  Trump has no respect for the rules, and that would be the only way Bidens answers could be heard.   Next moderator should make that measure clear right at the outset:  if you will not show minimal courtesy, then I pull your plug.
And give Trump a gazillion votes.

Why?   If the rule applies to both parties,  what's the problem?   A debate is only legitimate if basic standards of discourse are enforced.   Trump has free will,  so what's to prevent him respecting his opponent,  following rules, and not getting cut off?   Same rules for Biden.   Sounds like you're saying Trump can't behave like an adult.

So instead of denouncing Trump's boorish and unpresidential behavior as he shreds yet another democratic institution, REDSTATEWARD previews what would be the Right-wing response to that institutions attempt to stay viable in the face of those threats.  Yes, obviously a mechanism put in place to make sure the candidates stick to the rules both campaigns agreed to should be seen as an attack on Trump because he is the only candidate incapable of sticking to those rules.

Of course, the notion that those Right-wing attacks would win Trump any votes is laughable.

I wouldn't leave it up to the moderator.  Both candidates have 2 minutes to respond to the moderators question, and 1 minute to address his opponent's response.  Its all on the clock, and when its not your turn to talk your mic doesn't work.

But there isn't any way Trump would agree to this because like this election itself, Trump thinks his only way to win is to plunge the debate into chaos.  He "wins" and Democracy and everyone else loses.

Trump downplays legacy of slavery in appeal to white voters

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump intensified efforts to appeal to his core base of white voters on Thursday by downplaying the historical legacy of slavery in the United States and blasting efforts to address systemic racism as divisive.

The president’s comments marking the 233rd anniversary of the signing of the Constitution amounted to a defense of white culture and a denunciation of Democrats, the media and others who he accused of trying to indoctrinate school children and shame their parents’ “whiteness.”

Of course this is what is meant by "patriotic education."  Proliferating the views that Slavery was good for Black people, deny its continued legacy, and portray White America as the chosen and infallible, etc.

kiidcarter8 knows what it means of course, but knows better than to say it out loud.  Probably also knows that if the people being polled on it actually knew what is meant by it, the response would have been different.

On what basis do they "over-sample" democrats?

This is one of those red flags that indicate immediately that the author is a bullshitter.   Obviously, a pollster doesn't know if someone is a Democrat or a Republican or Independent until they ask!  And they aren't going to arbitrarily throw out responses, based on the answer to that question.  So they weigh their polls accordingly, and the good pollsters have no issue doing this.  But Republicans (ie Trumpists) like to use this phrase to discredit a poll that happened to unearth more Democrats than Republicans because it works on people who don't know how polls work (ie Trumpists)

We got more brothers this year

Interestingly, 22 percent of surveyed blacks said they are voting for Trump. In 2016, Trump received 8.4 percent of the black vote. Imagine if he was to double or triple that percentage. Black voters are part of the traditional Democrat base, and Trump is chipping away at them.

How would you define "patriotic education" kiidcarter8?

Describe it one to two sentences.

National polling at +7 for Biden since the start of August, going +1/-1 from there since then.  If there has been any real tightening in the race it has been slight, at best.  And there is state polling that is moving in the opposite direction.

If kiidcarter8 wanted to ask an intelligent question about the polling trends, he might ask why the damaging revelations re: Trump's crude dismissal of our nation's Troops or his lying about the threat of COVID have not taken a bite out of his support.

My answer to that would be that Trump supporters already knew the man they were supporting.  They already know he doesn't look out for the interests of the country, but support him because they think he is looking out for their interests.  Its a cult of people who see in Trump a defender against changing demographics, of the vision of this country that they want to see.  So there isn't anything left to learn about the guy, however disgusting, that will shake their support of him.

Are there enough of those deplorables to win the election for him?  I don't think so.  I don't think Trump thinks so either.  Which is why he is doing everything he can to suppress Democratic turnout, and cast doubt on the results.

Donald Trump once said Covid-19 might be a “good thing” because it would stop him from having to shake hands with “disgusting people”, according to a former top adviser to US vice president Mike Pence.

But he has so much Energy!
