E. Jean Carroll has sued Trump for defamation.

He cannot claim executive privilege...

Dave McFarlane broke down in tears as he told of how he lost his Mallacoota holiday home  - a house he had built with his own hands - of over 30 years.
In his arms a wooden pelican statue, gifted to him by his grandson – the only thing he managed to save.

Thousands of people in the coastal Victorian town faced an anxious night as fire surrounded the community on all sides, with many seeking refuge on jetties and beaches.

Pictures of the red hell that descended upon the town have been picked up around the world.

Maybe "around the world" can talk some sense into the politicians.

Bound to happen anywhere they give right-wing grifting carbon burn profiteers any credence. A good amount of blame goes to your #1 radio host.

Stay safe, and when it cools down think better.

Nah.
No 1 radio host and his listeners want 'common sense' things done.
"Common sense is not always common" - no 1 radio host.
Common sense dictates that wide firebreaks are made around towns, and housing estates are not built right next to bushland/forests but have a wide firebreak between them and the trees.
Bulldoze those trees!
It's the "tree-huggers", "basket-weavers", and "trees are carbon-sinks" lot that are, well you know.

Common sense dictates that water bombing aircraft 'mothballed' in north America should've been rented months ago and been gassed up and ready to go when the fires first started in Oct.
Or better still, instead of giving away billions of taxpayer dollars to the UN, other nations [many of whom don't seem very grateful]...buy some planes of our own.
Hoses on fire trucks are basically useless against firestorms. Firefighters should not be sent into some areas.

What the politicians are doing is totally, obviously, not working!

Explicitly non-Christian nation?
Only in theory.

No, Bambi.

In LAW.

In law, but not in the real world.

The only people clamoring for Christian nations are those who fail to keep a Christian head or a Christian heart.

Bambi, more than anyone I know or can imagine you are terribly misconceived.

This year's  drinking game:  take a swig,  every time a news story or opinion piece makes a reference to 2020 and visual acuity.

Happy Year of cleaning the Augean Stables.

And give them all Christian Bibles.

Tony, with that one line, you have underscored the biggest problem the non-white world has with whites and has had for centuries.

How fucking presumptuous of you!

And... speaking as an American, this is also emblematic of the problem non-Christians have with Christianity. (This is not to say that we are fond of those religious individuals from other faiths who've concluded that killing non-believers is appropriate!)

But I do not want my explicitly not Christian nation proselytizing on behalf of a specific religion, not even mine. And I'm more than a bit offended that you do.
Presumptuous?
You are the one guilty of being presumptuous.
When our town’s local chapter of CAIR donated 25 bound copies of the Quran to the public library it was accepted gratefully as a a historical and educational contribution to promote better understanding of a different culture.
Tony’s suggestion would be the same.
Perhaps you are offended because you are consistently intolerant of other opinions.

Washington(CNN) -- As the country faces unprecedented rancor between the branches of government in the midst of impeachment proceedings, Chief Justice John Roberts urged his fellow federal judges Tuesday to promote confidence in the judiciary and maintain the public's trust.

Americans, Roberts said, have in the modern era come to "take democracy for granted," and the chief justice lamented the fact that civic education has "fallen by the wayside."

"In our age, when social media can instantly spread rumor and false information on a grand scale, the public's need to understand our government, and the protections it provides, is ever more vital," Roberts wrote in his annual report on the state of the judiciary, issued each New Year's Eve...

Many observers of india have been surprised that Modi has grown so much more extreme in his second term in office. But a comparison of populist governments around the world suggests that India is following a predictable pattern of what would-be authoritarians do when they win reelection....

Democrats need to really get out the message of what's happening around the world as authoritarian leaders get their boots on the faces of vulnerable minorities and dissenters generally.  People need to wake up from their "it can't happen here" slumbers.

The fact that Roberts did neither is of little importance to Knicks.

Secular by name/law only is America.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianity_in_the_United_States

with 65% of polled American adults identifying themselves as Christian in 2019.

A secular country with Christians in it. Who made it secular? Christians. Why? To avoid religious wars and persecutions between and beyond the various sects. They took their cues from Free and Independent Masons, among others.

God is punishing you Bambi and your whole benighted country. When Oz is fully burnt out, China won’t want much to do with it, but at least the world will have somewhere to store its garbage. Instead of convicts, we’ll be sending plastics, nuke waste, solvents, and pesticides - the main ingredients of future Australian cuisine.
