I wonder how many white BBWAA writers WBW who could not communicate with Latin American players or didn't give a fuck if they could, never gave them the respect or credit they deserved, including HoF recognition.

Who would be the poster child for this?  Minnie Minoso?  Really?

I'm suggesting Minoso was good, and his stats and career are HoF worthy (borderline/leaning in) but a I imagine being the 1st dark-skinned Latin player (Cuban) to play in MLB since MLB segregated players, might have been a challenge in 1949 when the Indians signed him. And I'm guessing his English might have been a little rough. So his ability to connect with the writers, you know have a drink or two at the bar, go out to dinner, share a dirty joke, may have been somewhat compromised.

But he was the first and followed by Cepeda, Clemente, Pinson, Marichal and others.

IMO there should be a place in the Hall of Fame for Minoso and his role in MLB history.

Sox pick up option for Alex Cora for the '23 and '24 seasons.

Kid is expected to exercise his option on "Joey" for the foreseeable future.

Re:  Minoso, Oliva

Well, you just know it (HOF entry) is going to become a diversity thing - as everything.

Especialy with a select group of voters, easy to see this occurring.

I remember as a kid of about 10-12 or so, reading a Sport magazine article about the fiery and temperamental Latin players and the challenge they would have to successfully adapt to life in MLB. And that the challenges to communicate in English and other cultural reasons could hinder their advances playing the game. (ie they were a headache). I thought it was fucked up then, but it was in a leading sports magazine so...

I wonder how many white BBWAA writers WBW who could not communicate with Latin American players or didn't give a fuck if they could, never gave them the respect or credit they deserved, including HoF recognition.

Curse of Chief Wahoo strikes again.

the 2022 Golden Era Class

https://baseballhall.org/discover/golden-days-era-ballot-2022

Nine former big league players and one manager comprise the 10-name Golden Days Era ballot to be reviewed and voted upon Dec. 5 at the Baseball Winter Meetings.

Dick Allen
Ken Boyer
Gil Hodges
Jim Kaat
Roger Maris
Minnie Minoso
Danny Murtaugh
Tony Oliva
Billy Pierce
Maury Wills

are the candidates the Golden Days Era Committee will consider for Hall of Fame election for the Class of 2022.

If this doesn't work fuck it.

Screw this formatting.

Allen, Oliva, and Kaat would be my choices.

Its tough with the borderline guys, as you can always find the pros and cons.

I'd probably vote for Allen now. I never thought Kaat was a HoF pitcher, for most of his career he wasn't an all-star pitcher., but he was good and pitched forever, and he was a pretty good TV analyst and I got his autograph as a kid.

Oliva was real good, but never thought he was a HoFer at the time he played, but don't have any strong argument against.

Except IMO all these guys lower the bar a little.

I'd probably vote for Minoso as a pioneering Latin player who I remember as exciting and a one of a kind guy which he kind of was in the AL). Played with speed, a singles doubles guy, with some power, and could flash leather.  and probably opened doors for the great Latin players that came after him.

There are crazy people who want a race war in the USA.

In my hometown there was the case of 2 children fighting on a playground, it was a white child and a black child fighting and the black child fell and hit his head on the cement and died. It was a tragic event.

Louis Farrakhan said that there must be justice for the black child, and he came to the Antelope Valley and he called for a race war. Instead of wanting to bring the children up to the level of good civilized adults who do not handle situations with violence, Farrakhan was trying to bring everyone down to the level of children fighting on a playground, and he called for a race war.

There was an Italian-American in town, Frank Visco, and I guess Frank Visco had a private talk with Louis Farrakhan, and then Louis Farrakhan left town and the race war never happened.

Some scumbags who do not have real jobs would love to see a race war happen. It is up to the civilized adults to keep the peace, and to remind people that in America all men are equal.

Salute,

Tony V.

Tony

It sounds in your retelling that Frankie V made Looie Bowties an offer he couldn't refuse.

Rittenhouse will be looking over his shoulder for a long, long time.

Last thing we need to do in this country is turn this shithead into a fucking martyr.

That won't stop someone from trying, however.

He won't be a martyr as he's too valuable, and will have 24/7 security, He's gonna be the new poster boy and fund raiser for 2A advocates. They're gonna have that boy on the road waiving his AR-15, working the crazy fuckers for every penny they can to keep the streets safe for crazy fuckers carrying AR-15 looking to self-defend themselves from radical skateboarders .

Kyle Rittenhouse

Woke up this mornin
Got yourself a gub
Your mama always said youd be the chosen one
She said youre  one in a million, you got to burn to shine"
But you were born under a bad sign with a blue moon in your eyes
And you woke up this mornin
All that love had gone
Your papa never told you about right and wrong
Hey but youre, but youre looking good, baby
I believe that you're a-feelin fineI know I
Shame about it
Born under a bad sign with a blue moon in your eyes

catchy, but what's a gub?

I think the rational take away is don't attack armed vigilantes who are threatening you and your community with skateboards, but rather shoot the SOBs, as is your right under Wisconsin law.

Another sad day for our country.

To be fair, only 1/3 of Rosen's passes were intercepted, while Franks was 1 pass 1 pick.

Quote
Banks went stark raving mad for a year over bullshit b3cause once he staked out a position he never, ever backs down even if he is one hundred miles off track.

What Larry is referring to is his admission that he made a mistake and mislead this forum with a bogus quote that he knew was misleading.

He presented a 2016 quote as if it were 2020 to make a point that white Americans are racist!

Big surprise.

My position was Larry knowingly misled this forum.

Larry position was he just made a mistake.

He did make a mistake.

Yet he knew exactly what the mistake was before I told him of the mistake.

HEH

Larry its water under the bridge leave it be.

and leave me out of your arguments unless you want me to engage.

Only person mislead over the Kaepernick pull quote was you.

I copped to the mistake the day it happened and you called me a liar for over a year.

You threatening to engage? What, is that supposed to strike fear?

Knock yourself out.

You and HammySammy are a very small part of my daily concerns.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Larry.
