Cats may be catching COVID-19 at a higher rate than was previously suspected - but also may have a system that deals with it better than the human system seems to.

My favorite is that some of the cats have "binding antibodies" that latch onto COVID-19 cells and keep them from working. Lots more to learn about this before we understand any of it, I think.

In good news, the US ratio of deaths to finished cases is finally under 5 percent. The hope is that it keeps dropping. The world is about half a percent lower than we are.

The hope is that that number keeps dropping, because 5% of our remaining open cases is still a lot of people.

Yesterday, we passed Italy for deaths per million. We'll pass the UK in a few days and Spain about a week later, leaving only one substantial Western European country with a higher rate of deaths.

We're also going to cross 2% of the US having been diagnosed in a few days.

The Vice Presidential hopeful and the mainstream media have been gushing about Blake meanwhile omitting or burying his alleged criminal misconduct toward women.

Alleged?
Joe Biden.?

You mean Trump with 30 credible accusers and who admitted to serial sexual assaults on audio Tape?

And who refuses to have his DNA tested because a 20+ year old dress might have his residue on it?! "I have never met that woman. ... She's not my type."

The fact is, when Trump says he didn't want to create a "panic" he was talking about the markets and the shutdown measures because he saw them primarily as threats to his reelection.

Joe Biden and the dems are going to be reminded of their response to the Swine Flu out break.

In2009 as H1n1  looked like a big threat to the country Biden proclaimed:

Listen, we need to be aggressive early on this!

The next week, Biden made good on his pledge — and set off a deluge of criticism. In an interview on NBC’s “Today,” Biden said he wouldn’t advise his family to fly on planes or ride the subway.
“I wouldn’t go anywhere in confined places right now," Biden said. "It’s not that it’s going to Mexico, it’s that you are in a confined aircraft. When one person sneezes, it goes everywhere through the aircraft.”
Airlines angrily accused Biden of fearmongering. Media reports noted that Biden’s pessimism contrasted sharply with the reassurances President Barack Obama had given a day earlier, when he said there was no need to panic even as he declared a national health emergency. In a matter of hours, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Deputy Secretary of State Jack Lew were summoned to the White House and assigned to clean up the mess Biden made: “Nip it in the bud,” LaHood said, recalling their instructions.
(Politico)

As it turned Obama/Biden avoided a disaster only because of luck
as recalled by former Biden chief of staff Ron Klain who said at Texas A&M in 2019:
We did every possible thing wrong. Sixty million Americans got H1N1 in that period of time, and it is just purely a fortuity that this isn’t one of the great mass-casualty events in American history. [It] had nothing to do with us doing anything right; just had to do with luck.
If anyone thinks that can’t happen again, they don’t have to go back to 1918. Just go back to 2009, 2010. Imagine a virus with a different lethal-ity, and you can just do the math.”

LOL?  That actually proves that Biden was the voice of reason.  His voice was ignored and the US was lucky that H1N1 wasn't more lethal.
Ah.
So Obama should have listened to Joe?
Why do you suppose he didn’t?

Doesn't matter.  Obama isn't running for president.
LOL!
He was in 2009.

Oh, little Wardie, I'm sorry.

Your answer is wrong. No gold star for you.
Then you are pretty naive

Trump was running for president in 2016, Ward.

Obama was not running for president in 2009.

You can make up shit all you would like. You always do. It doesn't make it so.

Once again, a sitting president of the United States has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, but unlike last time, when President Barack Obama received the honor, current president Donald Trump has been nominated for an actual achievement, not just being popular in Europe and a nifty public speaker.

The last time a US President was nominated for NPP was two years ago, by the same far right, anti-Islamic xenophobic Norwegian.
Of course.
Racism.
What other reason do you ever have?

Islam is not a race.

Xenophobia is not about race.

Are you arguing, then, that "far right" is racism?

Okay, I accept your argument.

Ignoring that this is Trump's second nomination.

And I did not mind that Obama was nominated.

I minded that he won. He should never have won.

and the scoreboard is still running on the economic loss, the sick and the dead.

You need to stop, you fraction of a man.

and the scoreboard is still running on the economic loss, the sick and the dead.

You need to stop, you fraction of a man.

You hate that your usual schtick of viewing this whole thing as a game has been turned on you.

But what is really sad is that you don't understand - he doesn't mean the same thing by it that you do.

All your "winning" bullshit has nothing to do with his point.

His point is that Trump's impact continues to roll, causing death and discomfort through much of the country. It doesn't make him happy. But, as Donny Trump Sr. put it, "It is what it is."

And you cannot stand it, Kid.

Michael Osterholm, the director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, estimated earlier this month on CNN Tonight with Don Lemon that between 5% and 15% of people in the US have been infected.

That's what - 16-48 million people?  Really?

https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/21/health/sweden-herd-immunity-coronavirus-intl/index.html
Oh!  Those scientists!

Yes, we know that Sweden's got 7.3% in Stockholm testing positive for the anti-bodies. We don't know what tests they are using, let alone accuracy.

We know that at least half of one percent have tested positively. We also know how many tests we've administered, though not how many people have been tested. But if, as the record suggests, as many as 12% of people tested have gotten the disease, then it implies that the 5-15% figure is not outlandish.

What's funny about that?

Fox's Napolitano: There is 'ample and uncontradicted' evidence supporting Trump's removal from office

Judge Napolitano discussing the law, with which he is familiar.

You disregarded that, but embrace his hypothetical "questions" about medicine.

The slant of questions is grounded in ignorance and embraces failed notions, like "what if masks don't work."

Josh - don't bother responding to any of my links or posts - unless it is for your own amusement - - you are on ignore - possibly permanently.  Maybe some of your wisdom will seep through to me if our brethren here chooses to quote you

Keep up the good fight.  And thanks for moderating the space.

I don't give a fuck, Kid. If I want to make sure my posts can be seen by you, I can do that.

And, for all that you have a hard time grasping it, you are not the only person here who reads my responses.

For any wisdom of mine to seep through to you would take far more than its being in front of your eyes. It would quire you to heed your own advice and open your mind.

But hey, if you put everybody you disagree with on ignore, you and Ward can have some great specious discussions!
