The New York State Supreme Court reinstated all employees who were fired for not being vaccinated on Monday, ordering backpay and saying their rights had been violated.

The court found that being vaccinated does not prevent an individual from contracting or transmitting COVID-19. New York City Mayor Eric Adams claimed earlier this year that his administration would not rehire employees who had been fired over their vaccination status.

NYC alone fired roughly 1,400 employees for being unvaccinated earlier this year after the city adopted a vaccine mandate under former Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Many of those fired were police officers and firefighters.

The students have declined in achievement big time with remote learning...

https://www.usnews.com/news/education-news/articles/2022-10-24/pandemic-prompts-historic-decline-in-student-achievement-on-nations-report-card

The students need to be in school in person, with real teachers, and there is also the social aspects, the kids make friends at school. And beyond that, I also support after school activities and sports for the kids.

While remote learning may be cheap and easy, it is not the best way to go for the children, the children need to be in real schools with real teachers.

Salute,

Tony V.

Remote learning is not easy or cheap but it was necessary at the time.

Kids are like Petri dishes and while their youth and immune systems may offer more protection what about those who live in multigenerational housing?

People seem to forget over a million people died.

The state of Georgia has experienced a record early voting turnout since the first day of early voting began on Monday, the Secretary of State Office said in a press release this week.

The press release said that just under 400,000 voters have cast their ballots so far and the Wednesday total number marks a 63% increase from the same time during the 2018 midterm and is just slightly lower than the three-day total of early voting from the 2020 presidential election.

In 2018, 223,576 Georgians voted by mail for Governor. So far this year there have been 239,789 requests for absentee ballots, 238,356 have been mailed out. Georgia will easily exceed the 2018 total for mailed-in ballots while breaking the early vote record set in 2018 and approaching the early vote numbers in 2020.( presidential years typically have much higher turnout)

So when will Joe Biden apologize for calling new Georgia voting laws
JimCrow II?

Why apologize?

Georgia voting laws are Jim Crow 2.0

Under the states new Election Integrity Act, Georgia citizens can challenge a voters eligibility on the states voting rolls an unlimited number of times. Right-wing groups, spurred by baseless claims that the 2020 election was rife with voter fraud, have mounted thousands of organized challenges across the state, putting even more pressure on the election process for voters, poll workers and election officials. While most have been dismissed already, more challenges cropped up ahead of early voting.

In most cases, voters like Jones dont know why their status is being challenged in the first place, causing even more confusion.

The poll worker didnt tell me why I was being challenged, even after calling someone else for assistance, said Jones. They just kept telling me I would have to vote with a provisional ballot.

Georgia voters turned out in record numbers for the first week of early voting, casting their ballots in the two critical elections, the gubernatorial and Senate races. However, as the election progresses, the impact of Georgias new voting laws continues to unfold. Election and voter protection organizations across Georgia have been preparing for moments like this, working to educate voters on what to do if they experience issues when voting.

Interesting findings from Pew Research this week.

The share of Americans who are extremely or very concerned about a Ukrainian defeat FELL  from 55% to 38%.
Among Republicans and Republican leaning independents, 32% say the US is providing too much support for the war up from 9% in March.

And The list of high-profile media and policy figures who are starting to question the wisdom of the US strategy in the conflict grows longer every day.

The Washington Post asks
Why is the US administration continuing to pour tens of billions into a war that is ravaging Ukraine and causing thousands of deaths (and triggering massive collateral damage globally) when privately US officials say neither Russia nor Ukraine is capable of winning the war outright?
If so, why is the US prolonging the bloodshed and destruction, pledging to support Ukraine for as long as it takes rather than working towards a diplomatic solution that, barring nuclear war, is the only possible outcome anyway? The madness of this policy has become even more apparent in recent weeks, as fighting on both sides has continued to dangerously escalate  with Biden himself warning of the very real possibility of a nuclear Armageddon.

The answer,of course, is Joe Biden needs a counter point to his neglect of OUR southern border mess (among his many policy blunders)so he favors  a stupid defense of a meaningless border war that will only cost billions of borrowed American  money and leave all of us poorer.

Who wrote it?

It is not 1940.

You do not have to encourage republicans to self rapture. They are more than happy to do it all by themselves. The important thing is when a republican is ready to go do not let him take you or any decent people with him.

I remember getting piled on by banks and utley for using the phrase, final solution... so to speak when it became clear the people dying were mostly the elderly (saving a ton of Social Secure benefits) and people on the margins.
