To paraphrase Sir Winston Churchill, You can depend on Mike Johnson to do the right thing. But only after he has exhausted every other possibility.
The best result of the Johnson handling of the aid package is that it embarrassed MTG and kept the democrats on his side. If you do not understand this you are a political idiot.

Frank Bruni, New York Times Columnist with a huge endorsement of the work of GOP Speaker of The House Mike Johnson.

I strongly support the aid package while understanding the qualms about it, but its merits are not my  focus here
The principled course of Speaker Johnson is.

He made common cause with political adversaries. He potentially put his speakership in greater jeopardy than if he had taken a different tack (though these matters are tricky and time will tell).

What impresses and encourages me most, though, are accounts of how he arrived at his backing of the bill
 He educated himself.
As Catie Edmondson reported in an article in The Times on Sunday,  Johnson attributed his turnabout in part to the intelligence briefings he received, a striking assertion from a leader of a party that has embraced former President Donald J. Trump s deep mistrust of the intelligence community.
Seeking more information.
Not dismissing it out of hand because of its provenance.
Humbly conceding that your prior understanding was faulty or incomplete.
Encouraging others to look beyond their stubbornness to the possibility of enlightenment.

None of that should be exceptional.
All of it is.
May it be a model for the lawmakers around him, for all politicians, for the rest of us.

And may we take another lesson from this that All is not lost.
What Johnson did and how this episode ultimately played out constitute another instance of the government pulling through, a budget passes at the final hour, a debt ceiling is finally raised  after terrifying signs that it might not. That does not redeem all the wasted time and what it cost. But it is  an important counter to the very worst of our pessimism, a reminder not to let our premonitions of doom utterly consume us and become self fulfilling prophecies.

Just remember.
If Trump wins it will be because of the total ineptness and lies of the democrats.

Joe Biden just keeps winning with bipartisan legislation
Strange, then, the polls show him losing.

Good news on the signed bill which also allows the administration to seize Russian state assets located in the U.S.  Somewhere up to 5 billion from the Russian central bank that could go to help Ukraine.  From freezing to seizing, nice work.
thanks to Speaker Johnson.

Another day of protesters defending evil terrorists
while are feckless President walks away from reporters questions to him.
He is obviously scared to say anything negative about democrats joining forces with Hamas evil doers in slurring Jews. Ugly anti semitism uproars discredits our most elite University campuses but Joe walks away from questions.
He won in 2020 by staying in the basement.
If the same cowardice  highlights his strategy this time he may hand the keys to the White House to Trump.

Only Barton would say something as stupid as that.

Biden(finally) condemned the actions of anti Jewish demonstrators, even labeled them antisemitic.
But he also chastised those who did not empathize with the suffering of those in Gaza.
Sound familiar?
Hush Hush, Sweet Charlotte.

I was just there today. Went to Poinsettia dog park and had lunch at the airport. Just a hop, skip and a jump from my home.

You could apply to become a border patrol agent..a short walk to work.

Cracking some Australian skulls when they inevitably overstay their visas does sound tempting. It would take a big dent out of disorganized crime.

LOL

Americans are the third largest group of visa overstayers in Australia...behind Malaysians and Chinese.
Thousands of Americans overstay, thousands.

My Communication professor in community college, Dr Debra Tolar, said that the women of Australia are the best for American men, because the Aussie women are straight forward and honest and if an Aussie woman likes you then she will let you know it. In California it is harder, unless you are rich and famous, so for the Californian men then Dr Debra Tolar said the Australian women were the best. ( By the way, Shakira should hire Dr Debra Tolar to work on her team, the last I heard Dr Debra Tolar was coaching people in Show Business, she could help Shakira with PR, etc. ) It is like in "Grease" where John Travolta fell in love with Olivia Newton John. The American men with the Australian women go good together.

And remember that the Philippines is a good Christian nation, and the women of the Philippines are great for the Aussie men. Check out Miss Charm Philippines 2024, Krishnah Gravidez, she is a beautiful woman. I was friends with Pia Reyes who was a Playboy Playmate from Manila, Philippines. Be sure to welcome the people from the Philippines to Australia.

Dr Debra Tolar says the Australian women are the best for California men.

Salute,

Tony V.

That was then, this is now.
Today, the question is, what is an "Australian woman".
In fact what is also being asked is "what is a woman?"
Today a "woman" could be a biological man.
It's all very confusing.
Girls will be boys and boys will be girls. It's a mixed up, muddled up shook up world.
Quote

A single Black woman from Africa has moved to Australia and has a Youtube channel.
Just one? Actually, I am surprised you allowed even that.
Quote
She has found it strange that no men are approaching her, including asking for her number, as in Africa.
Racist?
No, the men are petrified, petrified of being seen as "predators", "sexual harassers", etc.
She says you have to go on dating sites.
Get help. Incels like you are responsible for a lot of mass shootings. Or in your case, mass boomerang assaults.

What I wrote is true, and what she wrote is true.
I realize you miss the days when you could sexually harrass women without worrying about the consequences, including specifically the consequences to the lives of the women you accosted. Now they get to assert themselves and object to your noxious conduct and you do not like it. Welcome to Hell.

Some women are now complaining that, basically, men have all disappeared and those who haven't won't "try anything" on a date.
That, it any form, is classed as 'sexual assault'.

Men have disappeared, disappeared into saving their money and spending it on housing etc to set themselves up for a secure furture.
Last time I went on a date was in 1967...and I was a 'perfect gentleman'.
Disrespecting a woman's decision about her body and coercing sex is not manly. Men are not disappearing. The bad ones are facing the consequences of their actions.
Unless they seal the evidence at the University of Delaware
