holy shit - its summer league!

For those disrespecting Shump, he was a good value pick given the draft slot.

Yes.  The point was that he was built up here to be much more than that.

Lets call an organizational guy (like Ron Baker) what he is.  Ten guys gotta see time.  If a player has a chance at being that, applaud.  But dont overstate.

Contender?  Player has to be at a higher level.

Times have indeed changed...I agree with kid here. The Manimal was my pick in that draft. Others have posted much better performers on here that were drafted after Shump too.

Come on Ming.

Nothing snarky or dismissive to say about Kevin Knox and Mitchell Robinson.

Go ahead.  I'll wait.

[CRICKETS]

Jury still out pal. I always hope I am wrong but I'm not going to comment on the unknown yet, which seemingly always gets you in trouble since you are addicted to the kool-aid. Haven't come to terms on whether that is something I admire or not about you.

However, given that we have been one of the worst franchises in the league over the last 17 years, you would have thought that some of the draft opportunities would be somewhat fruitful. Yes, I know the mismanagement arguments with the Melo trade and others that you will cite, but sorry if I am the negative nancy on the forum with little to no confidence in anything this franchise has done or will do. There seems to be a black cloud over this fucking team and until it disappears color me skeptical and downright unconvinced.

You know I love going to the games all these years, but no more --- just going to the Garden for the vibe and experience is not enough for me any longer.

I can still hear your raspy voice in my ear, "You're going to love this kid Shump!!"

So long, Ron.

Gee, I wonder who was the genius that decided to give him a 2 yr $9M deal......oh wait
5  Sports / Basketball / Re: Kyle Disses New York Knicks on: July 09, 2018, 05:45:01 PM
He wanted to play for more than the lottery.

Dude I told you guys if he was so good why were we lottery?

gonna put it on KOQ? Shirley you can't be serious

Good for you KOQ -- best of luck -- smart move leaving a losing culture for better
6  Sports / Basketball / Re: Knicks Fans Nix Knox, Part 3 on: June 23, 2018, 09:13:45 PM

I must in conclusion say I am utterly psyched about both Knox and Robinson and Coach Fizdale and his new staff of assistants.

too fucking funny that you felt the need to broadcast your position as if it would be breaking news
7  Sports / Basketball / Re: Knicks Fans Nix Knox, Part 2 on: June 22, 2018, 07:36:08 PM
So, Perry and Mills are morons?

So, Coach Callipari's paternal boosterism for Knox is not to be trusted (he loved Monk, too, yes he did, who was, by the Way, Merciless' choice for our #1 pick rather than Ntilikina, and he reacted with predictable fury when we passed...jury still out on Monk...he showed some significant progress the last few weeks of the season, and my first choice, DeAndre Fox, also struggled his rookie season).

Duly fucking noted.

Here's the thing.

Did Porter have a sit down with Fizz?  He did not.  A workout?

He did not.  Knox did sit down with Fizz.  Fizz chatted up his father on the phone.  Bothe sides got a feel for each other.

Most significantly, Knox worked out for the Knicks 3-on-3.  Bridges, for whom the Knicks clearly had strong feelings, worked out as a single.

Monk is still going to be an All-Star -- Frenchie will not. Book it.

Truth be told, the Cavs took my pick ahead of us. Yes, I wanted Sexton. A true, tough, determined, talented mother-fucker who has the arrogance required to excel.

I get it.  And based on my last text exchange with JM, and his public disavowal of being a Knicks fan, I took him at his word.  Much like Nagel putting Kiid on ignore.

Of course, that was, until he made his snarky cameo yesterday, dismissing the knicks and their picks out of hand and wondering aloud when Chip was going to chime in with his impassioned paean on behalf of Knox.

I like to drive through the old neighborhood every now and then just to remember the slums where i came from --- and see the old gang hanging out on the corners talking about the same ol shit...makes me feel good about having moved on with my life.

Seems this boy doesn't play too much defense ... seems like a crap pick to me.

You expected something else from this franchise, Stupid Scotty and that no-nothing corporate suit Mills?

Can't wait to hear Chip tell me about another rookie with upside....

10  Sports / Basketball / Re: Knicks on: June 01, 2018, 06:59:08 PM

Yes a good post. BUT there is a reason you don't shoot/showboat/dunk/go for a meaningless stat in the last 24 seconds of a game you have in hand.

Agreed - its called sportsmanship

Surprise Surprise

Shams Charania: New York Knicks guard Ron Baker has exercised his $4.5M player option for next season, league sources tell Yahoo.
– via Twitter ShamsCharania

He needs that money to retire on after next season.

Another brilliant move by our brain trust... tell me again how we're supposed to feel good about their pick at #9.

The move was Baker's to make.

Pretty sure it was obvious that the move i was referring to was the original decision to sign him.

I finally watch a playoff game and its the worst officiated game down the stretch I've seen in a long time.

JVG saying they need to get it right during the Finals. He's right.

Cavs got raw end of the refs whistle on several calls and no-calls down the stretch in regulation. What kind of fucked up NBA rule allows the refs to change a call after reviewing whether a player was in the restricted area or not. JVG is right, if you are going to allow that type of change then you might as well give the coaches some sort of challenges to questionable calls.

I hate the CAVS but they were victimized by the refs tonight.

The NBA sucks. This is the only sport that leaves you scratching your head at the end of games. Can't say this about baseball or football.

Nobody in 2018  says "inmates running the asylum" referring to a predominantly white-owned sport with predominantly non-white employees and gets away clean.

That's like saying Jeremy Lin has a chink in his armor.

Let me make this clear enough for you Kam. There was no intent other than to say that the NBA athletes now run the show unlike in other sports and its ruining the sport. Coaches have to "connect" with today's players. All bullshit in my book. Has nothing to do with race.

Lastly, FUCK YOU..you twit.

I don't know enough about Fizdale to get excited.  Seems like another one of those half ass coach picks because he's my homie.  Right now its looking like another decent half season before we crash and burn by christmas and be in the lottery by April.  ONly the fucking Knicks,  Like I said the obvious coach or draft pick would be right in thier face and they always reach and pull some shit out from someone else and then wonder why we been suckin dirt for the last 10 years or so.

Gospel.

They've turned me off completely. Actually, the NBA has too with the inmates running the asylum now. Not interested anymore.

Enjoy purgatory my fellow forumites.
