Though I actually dont think it harder to mail a ballot on October 25th or so - or drop it in a box by 11/3 than it is to mail it on 11/3.

You may be able to explain how it is

I think for many people, for many reasons, work, health, childcare, bad weather, etc. it may be far easier to vote by mail than have to wait in a crowded line for several hours.

Sit down on a sunday, read the ballot, mull the choices, mark your ballot, and drop it in the mail or secure drop-box Monday or Tuesday, before the voting deadline.

They may find it impractical to vote in person on election day.

so without changing the subject, should government encourage voter participation by extending voting hours and mail-in ballot options?

Whats the argument for making voting harder and less convenient?

take a swing.

worse you can do is miss.

That's the best he can do.

The worst he can do, and the most likely, is to lie some more.

I'm just trying to elcit a response from kid or anyone on a pretty straight forward question.

People can address it any way they want.

And then we can discuss it.

And I understand the "against" is a loaded response.

But it can be made.

Most understand what happened.

IS happening, Bank.

And no - you have made little attempt to understand it entirely.

kid-the cost of perfect information is almost always too expensive to afford, impossible to get, and yields very little of real value.

I understand enough to make reasoned decisions and draw reasoned conclusions.

If you'd rather ignore facts and focus on conspiracy theories you certainly can.

But as you dry yourself,  no swings at the fastball right down the middle?

it was a straight forward question.

kid mumbles and fumbles incoherently desperately trying to find a scape goat for covid.

Most understand what happened.

BUT lets give kid his space to wet himself and dry his tears.

Here's a fastball right down the middle to take a swing at.

We just went through an election where when all the votes are counted, over 150 million Americans voted.

The most votes ever and by a wide margin.

Turnout for years has been about 60%, Its estimated that when all the votes are counted turnout will be about 66% the highest in about a century.

All this despite the concerns about publuc health and the spread of disease.

I suspect the convenience of early voting at polls and mail-in voting as well as the marked difference between candidates drove the record voter participation.

Should we continue the practice of early and extended voting hours and mail-in voting to encourage people to vote?

Or once the threat of covid passes should we go back to the more traditional standard of:

The polls are open Tues Nov xx, 20XX from 7A-8pm (whatver) and mail-in and absentees voting wil only be granted for cause?

Whats the argument for making voting harder and less convenient?

Trump had ZERO to do with how Cuomo and some other governor's handled nursing homes

and kid changes the subject again.

Actually Josh did.

It was me first here today, bringing up the subject of DC yesterday

Have a nice day, Aingey.

Aingey?

I imagine in your twisted reality that's smack.

I laughed.

kid-you're an idiot.

and kid changes the subject again.

and once again he's either wrong or lying.

Trump was informed about the nature of the disease in January 2020, how it spread, and how deadly it was, and lied to Americans about dangers of covid.

Mistakes were made but we learned.

We made a mistake in 2016

we learned

We corrected that mistake in 2020.

AntiFa scum descend upon DC, attacking the elderly.

Sad.

What's sad is Trump's incompetence in handling covid attacked the elderly.

what's sad is that Trump's attack on ACA and medicaid and pre-existing conditions attacked an aging and elerly America

what's sad is Trump's incompetence and greed threatens social security and Medicare which the elderly depend on.

what's sad is kid needs conspiracy fantasies to mask the truth that Trump attacks the elderly and the safety of Americans every fucking day.

very sad

Gee, I am so surprised.

TRump's new PAC is a game changer

kid will never learn or understand he got hustled by a con man.

Trump destroys everything he touches. Casinos, airlines, his fradulent charities, Trump U, He lost billions and never paid his taxes. Then through his gross incomptence he threatened the public health of this country, and the economy.
And then he pissed on our trusted institutions all to promote his own narrow self interest.

Its all a fucking con.

Trump's PAC isn't a game changer its just one more game of 3-card Donnie to hustle the rubes.

Josh. I think it's time to change the name of this fora. I suggest Lame Duck Administration.

I'd go with Lame Duck L'Orange

He's done and ready to be carved.

Bo says,  over at Third Eye Film,  that Elba has locked him out or deactivated his account or something.   He thought others might've been,  too.   No problems here.

It might be nice,  in a big state,  to have  a Senator who isn't quite as remote.   If you're with some small niche group, a Senator with 600,000 constituents is more likely to pay some attention than one with 40 million.   In theory,  Representatives are the approachable ones.  Senators are,  in theory,  supposed to be upholding the larger principles and big picture stuff.  Boy,  those were the days...

I got a message early this AM  (about 1 AM) that "this account was suspended" on an otherwise blank screen.

but by 10AM all seemed fine.

I figured kid stuck a fork in the socket again and blew a circuit, or something.

bart real question-should ND, SD, WY, Montana or Vermont for that matter have the same 2 senators that Cal or Fl or Tx get, does that strike you as fair?

Not really,  but we seem stuck with the bicameral legislature we got from the Brit influence.   Lower house is proportional, upper house isn't.   The original concept was that states have some self-sovereignty and a Senate keeps the big populated states from steamrollering the smaller ones.   No one anticipates the problems these sorts of lofty ideas lead to.   Especially how the Senate would clamp gridlock on popular legislation coming from the "lower" house.   Minority rule.

So we're stuck with the tyranny of Vermont and Bernie Sanders.

maybe there is a common sense reform to give fair senatorial representation to the 40 million socialists in Cal and the 600,000 socialists in Vt. that the fair-minded people of the Dakotas would agree to.

Bart-I was just having a little fun with the long history of immigrants descending upon the west to take land and change local ways.

Isn't it more like storied western  tradition?

This land is my land

It is not your land

we stole it fairly

we stole it squarely

we'lll keep out others

who want to share it.

this land was meant for only me.

sorry Woody

Vis-a-vis Mr Yang's unoriginal idea of moving en masse to Georgia and the article from last month, I think, about the bears of Grafton, NH...

I have espoused for years the notion of a couple hundred thousand liberals moving to Montana or some such place and changing the state.
[...]
It might also return hope to some of the residents and reverse the declining lifespans of their despairing citizenry.

I think people here would react mostly negatively to coastal liberals moving in with the notion that they're bringing light.   Would most likely polarize people more, and bring on waves of carpetbagger loathing.   Most anger would focus on the assumption that coastal people know best what Montana or Dakota need.

Bart-I generally agree with you, Montana for Montanans! I think locals should decide local issues. Besides with the internet and cable tv taking place of the covered wagon, telegraph, and the railroads much of civiliation can be brought to the wild west without the actual annoyance of interlopers and the pollution and tangible garbage that accompanies them.

But what happened to that pioneer spirit, the spirit that led the settlers from the east like Denmark, Norway and Sweden to find their true ancestral home and share it peacefully with the indigineous peoples?
