Unfortunately, the IHME modelers’ findings contained an error that even minimal scrutiny should have caught. The projected number of lives saved, and the implied case for a mask mandate, are based on a faulty statistic. Using a months-old survey, IHME modelers assumed erroneously that the U.S. mask-adoption rate stood at only 49% as of late September, and therefore had plenty of room to increase to “universal adoption,” defined as 95%, or to a more plausible 85%.

According to more recent survey findings, however, America’s mask-adoption rate has hovered around 80% since the summer.

How is it then when we saw Trump rallys and gatherings for the past few months almost no one wore masks?

Don't beleive your lieing eyes-right?

How fucking stupid are these people?

I could get to 80% of the US wearing mask if I assumed 90% of Dems and Indies wore masks (and assumed they accounted for about 66% of the population) and if the remaining 34% were Repub mask-a-raiders the plug figure would be about be about 60% wearing mask.

Doesn't seem to jibe with reality and observations of the behavior of the fucking deplorables who turned wearing masks into a partisan death wish.

dumb fucks

I have the feeling those dumb fuck anti-maskers lied to the poll-takers

Big fucking surprise

And happy birthday Josh

If Joe B knows and trusts the judgement of a moderate Repub in a specfic area and knows that said person could be an effective administrator and voice for his policies in that area, given the overheated partisan nature of our politics and Biden's view of working across the aisle, I have no problem whatsoever with him choosing the best available person to advance his policies and run a department. I think it sends a positive message. IMO only considering Dems for high level positions is idiotic and runs counter to furthering our national interests.

Rather than show weakness it demonstrates strength in that you're not afraid of picking the best people independent of how they've voted in the past.

Not much in this current iteration of Republicans to pick from.

Maybe maybe not. But given Biden's inclination to seek healing and working across the aisle, I expect him to make a good faith effort to throw the dogs a bone,

But the point was its shortsighted to ignore smart, competent and reasonable people who may help you achieve political goals, because of their to party affiliation. This country needs a lot of fixing and given the deep divides, reasonable voices on both sides are going to be needed to work together, or we may be fucked for a lon time.

My concern is that McConnell is so focused on blocking Biden, he damages America for decades. We need some Repubs to forget about party and start thinking about the country.

And soon.

At best its just another Trump con to raise money from his gullible base of rubes to pay his bills, as dead-beat Donnie need cash coming in to keep the scheme running.

At worst its republican act of sedition and an attempt to overthrow the duly elected President of the US.

Support and defend the Konstitution!

No time like the present to live up to your oath.

Dumb fascist fuckers bettter start thinking real hard about their continued support of the authoritarian Russian puppet.

It was argued here in June-July as covid was revving up again to close down the hot spots across the country to control the disease, and enable the safe reopening of schools and businesses by September.

sacrifice in July for 4-6 weeks to resume hopefully a normal life in September.

But instead we had Sturges and presidential rallys over the course of the summer.

Stupid selfish deplorable motherfuckers.

and big fucking surprise as the scientist predicted the virus regained strength, found new hosts, and now the US is being hit by a worse outbreak as we approached flu and the winter.

And Red laughs at science.

stupid selfish deplorable motherfucker.

So Esper is out at Defense, and Darth Vader is pinch-hitting.

Who remembers when "junta" used to refer to a banana republic's abuse of power and the cessation of democracy?

and I'm only being semi-facetious.

I think Biden should appoint one or two sitting Republican senators from states with Democratic governors, and then fire them in two or three months.

I think that's an excellent idea. In Louisiana, Sen John Kennedy, would make a fine addition to the Biden cabinet. In addition to bringing back a hallowed name to Dem-national prominence , Sen Kennedy, fondly known as Gomer amongst friends, would make a fine Secretary of "Aw shucks" or Country and Western music.

Only 4 GOP Senators have acknowledged that Joe Biden has won the election.

Susa Collins - Maine
Mitt Romney - Utah
Lisa Murkowski - Alaska
Ben Sasse - Nebraska

The rest are a bunch of spineless cowards.

Part of me says, "if there is a legitimate reason to contest a close outcome, then fine. Recount the votes.

But the R-senators (excl the 4 above) in the absence of any proof of election fraud, are far more than cowards, they are accomplices in undermining our election and our democracy. They are doing lasting harm and they know it.

And I suspect they know the only fraud involved in this election was that perpetrated by Trump and the Repub party in their attempts at voter suppression, voter intimidation and voter confusion.

People should go to jail for this attempted theft of American democracy.

I might even hang a couple of SOBS to teach these fascist motherfuckers in waiting a fucking lesson, stop this shit NOW.

Tom Heinsohn, the Celtics’ accomplished and animated renaissance man who was involved in all 17 of the franchise’s National Basketball Association titles as a player, coach, and commentator, has died, according to multiple people affiliated with the NBA. He was 86.

This fucking year
He was pure Celtic.

player-coach and outrageous voice of partisan Celtic pride.

I'm tearing up on this one.

RIP and give em all Tommy

But I didnt pick 9 parlays

I may have added a week (1 week) of parlays incorrectly

so lets knock off $100 (lets call it a Trump going out of business courtesy)

and call your loss to date $1810.

but anytime you want to give a full accounting-feel free

Just checked and I had a rare excellent O/U week - at 10-4

Thus the composite for the contest was not so bad

10-4
5-9
10-4

25-17

.595 composite

keep on moving the goalpost kid

so your loss is closer to $4k.

Well...

Its a contest - but if you wish to assign a value so you feel better about yourself, have at it.

Kid you're the one posting your weekly picks and results and you assigned $ values to them.

I just totaled them for you

I had them at -$1910 here. (including your 1-8 trifecta record)

and you just said you have the same results elsewhere.

so I doubled it.

Good luck in the contest kid-I'm sure you'll get hot any day now.
