That all wrath is thrown at Trump and little at China and little at just the randomness is alarming.

Oh, blame China!!!

US warns citizens in China to avoid animals and sick people over mystery pneumonia virus

Quote
Americans travelling in China should avoid animals and contact with sick people as the country grapples with a mystery pneumonia outbreak, the US embassy in China said Tuesday.

The viral illness was first reported last week in Wuhan, a central Chinese city with a population of over 11 million, and has since grown to at least 59 cases.

Chinese health officials have ruled out a resurgence of the highly contagious severe acute respiratory syndrome virus, which killed hundreds more than a decade ago, after fears spread online that it had made a comeback.

“Be aware and practise usual precautions,” said the health alert issued by the US embassy, which urged citizens to seek medical care “right away” if they felt sick after travelling to Wuhan.

Oh, blame the Chinese.

Or blame random chance for our failure to be prepared. For Trump's firing the pandemic team. For Trump's refusing the WHO masks.

Curse the Heavens for this random chance that has left Trump still alive, while so many Americans are and will be dead from his refusal to behave presidential until Monday, March 16th.

"Well, okay, he was incompetent before but he won't be from now on."

Seems everything has been pulled together beautifully

"everything has been pulled together beautifully"

So much for "stop," Kid. You are still lying.

Masks being ordered by the government are still tardy. Tests being distributed got pulled together way too late - there are still people who cannot get them.

It took until Monday of this week for the president to stop misleading the country, which has caused a ton of people to doubt the restrictions are necessary.

And you want to claim "everything has been pulled together beautifully.

Such a piece of work.

Trump has no responsibility, just ask him. "We know," says Kid. "He's on it."

Leadership at its best...

We know.

Stop already......

"We know."

You are so full of shit. You have been telling us what an amazing job Trump has been doing all the way along, yourself. You have complained that I misrepresented the situation when I reported what was being done wrong.

You have quoted again and again, even just a few minutes ago, about how Trump has done all the right things.

And now you want us to stop pointing out how Trump lies about his "10 out of 10" performance in handling this crisis?

Amazing, Kid. Simply amazing.

Just stop, yourself.

Updated numbers

207K cases

82K  recovered  (40%)

8200+ deaths.  (4%)

Kid, there are two keys to that which make the figure of 4% misleading.

The first is that one should not be comparing deaths to all cases, but to the number recovered - the two figures combined are all the cases that are closed. So, the figure is closer to 10%.

But the second pushes in the other direction: we have no idea just how many cases there are, because too few people can be tested. With broader testing, the folks who are asymptomatic or with very mild symptoms get included in the numbers and the number and percentage who recover both go way up, we hope.

So, we don't really know what that figure really ought to be. Tracking how many people end up with severe or critical cases may be a simpler metric to use and then how many die among them.

As for the CDC,  its funding for global outbreak management was only saved when Congress intervened and thwarted Trump's attempt to end it.   Once again,  the faithful can claim "Trump didn't do [X ]" only because wiser and saner heads prevailed.   What a thoroughly dishonest and pathetic sort of defense of an incompetent  that is!

Did they override a Trump veto?

The funding ran out.  Congress the approved further funding.

The article (and so many Democrats) lazily claimed as you have - and needed correction.

Not Josh or Bart's point.   Which was that Trump RECOMMENDED  cuts to the CDC.

No.

My point was that Trump DID fire those people, just as the Snopes piece that Kid posted said he did!

The Trump administration fired the U.S. pandemic response team in 2018 to cut costs.

mid warnings from public health officials that a 2020 outbreak of a new coronavirus could soon become a pandemic involving the U.S., alarmed readers asked Snopes to verify a rumor that U.S. President Donald Trump had “fired the entire pandemic response team two years ago and then didn’t replace them.”

The claim came from a series of tweets posted by Judd Legum, who runs Popular Information, a newsletter he describes as being about “politics and power.” Legum’s commentary was representative of sharp criticism from Democratic legislators (and some Republicans) that the Trump administration had ill-prepared the country for a pandemic even as one was looming on the horizon.

Legum outlined a series of cost-cutting decisions made by the Trump administration in preceding years that had gutted the nation’s infectious disease defense infrastructure. The “pandemic response team” firing claim referred to news accounts from Spring 2018 reporting that White House officials tasked with directing a national response to a pandemic had been ousted.

Rear Adm. Timothy Ziemer abruptly departed from his post leading the global health security team on the National Security Council in May 2018 amid a reorganization of the council by then-National Security Advisor John Bolton, and Ziemer’s team was disbanded. Tom Bossert, whom the Washington Post reported “had called for a comprehensive biodefense strategy against pandemics and biological attacks,” had been fired one month prior.

It’s thus true that the Trump administration axed the executive branch team responsible for coordinating a response to a pandemic and did not replace it, eliminating Ziemer’s position and reassigning others, although Bolton was the executive at the top of the National Security Council chain of command at the time.

Updated to clarify that cuts to programs intended to fight epidemics globally did not take place.

Updated to clarify that the 2018 reductions in CDC efforts referenced were a result of the anticipated depletion of previously allotted funding, not a direct cut by the Trump administration.

Example of the "fake news" Trump often speaks of

This piece

IRS is giving you an extra 90 days to file your taxes (unless you would have to pay more than a million dollars - 10 mil for businesses).

Check what your state is doing - there is a link embedded in the story for that!

And why delay if you are getting a refund!
