Meanwhile, where is AG Barr and the fight against sedition?!

Apparently, it is only left wing activists who commit sedition. People who expressly are trying to overthrow parts of the US government aren't seditionists.

Last month, Barr demanded that federal and state prosecutors vigorously charge riot-related defendants with the rarely-used sedition law, that would make it a crime to conspire to overthrow the government. None of the defendants in Thursday's operation were charged with sedition.

Among other things, a federal criminal complaint says the alleged scheme included plans to overthrow several state governments that the suspects "believe are violating the US Constitution," including the government of Michigan and Whitmer.

  Extensive recordings and surveillance described in the court papers show how deeply the FBI had infiltrated the alleged plotters – sometimes with more than one informant or undercover operative at the same event. Investigators were inside encrypted chats where the suspects allegedly communicated in code, using "baker" and a "cake" in reference to an explosives provider and a bomb. They were along for a car ride to case the vacation home where the suspects allegedly planned to kidnap the governor and spirit her to Wisconsin for a "trial."

In June, at a meeting site in Grand Rapids, Mich., court documents said, the suspects entered a basement through a trapdoor hidden by a rug. Once inside, the men were ordered to turn over their cellphones, which were placed in a box and taken upstairs as a security precaution. But one of the people present was an informant wearing a device.   

Does this kind of news report help the battle against them or hinder it? Did we really want to let them know how deeply they are infiltrated?

I can see some advantages to it - getting them to distrust each other more, making recruitment harder, among others. But I can see major risks from it, as well.

I'd like to think that managers would be given a break because of the weirdness of the season, but I'm not sure that sentiment is one that owners have.

I think some will and some won't, but I also think it depends on the team. Didn't look to me as if Reonicke was any readier to be in charge this time than he was last time.

For the Yankees, it's got to be frustrating to have all that power and all those arms and to get to the post-season but repeatedly get edged out. But how do you blame Aaron Boone for Chapman's getting beaten there? Who else should he have had in at that exact moment? He's pitched 4 innings going into that last fateful one without giving up a run in the postseason. And how is he to blame for a team that had averaged 7.5 runs per game before scoring 1?

But... they're barely above .500 in the postseason.

And their free agent list is pretty daunting for a team that led the majors in this abbreviated season's salaries.

Congress should convert the Thurmond Rule from an urban legend into actual legislation, settling on a specific set of criteria for closeness to a presidential election.  For example, ACB was nominated 38 days from the election (the shortest distance from the election in history).  One criteria could be to look at early voting dates.  In South Dakota, that was Sept. 18th, which means that I could have already voted before Barrett's nomination.  So one possibility would be to say that no nominations can be made after the earliest states begin voting, which would provide a fairly rational demarcation point.

More important why does any serious voter want to vote early BEFORE the campaigns are over?

Because at 200,000 deaths from COVID-19, more than half of which are directly attributable to the Liar-in-Chief, they did not need more campaigning to know that Biden would be better for the country.

Let alone dealing with the climate, which Trump refuses to do; taking children from their families and intentionally losing the records of where they were put; lying repeatedly about having a plan for health care, while trying to eliminate/destroy ACA; and a host of other similarly ill-considered moves.

Why would anybody wait for Trump and Pence to lie even more before voting?!
