Omalu says in 5 years there may be a reliable test.

Best for people to know why their lives have changed so radically, even if there is no cure.  And if they find further links of CTE with ALS, maybe eventually something can be done along the lines of slowing, if not eliminating that eventuality.

I'm not optimistic that we will be able to do anything substantial any time soon.

We've been trying to help folks with concussions, alone, for a long time and made very little headway.

Nor do we do especially well with the bulk of brain trauma.

But I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on television. Perhaps more is in the works than I have heard about.

I fear that "eventually" shan't be any time soon (like, not for decades).

And I bet a ton of players choose not to find out.
