Sac '19 #1 protected for #1 which if it conveys could be a 2-7 pick

Clippper's '19 #1 1-14 protected in '19 and '20

Memphis ''19 #1  1-8 protected, 1-6 protected in '20, unprotected in '21

is the draft captal in addition to their own 1s they possess, to provide draft/trade options.

Not a bad thing to have particularly as they already are one of the youngest teams in the NBA.

to borrow a phrase

"woooo-hooooo"

Heh

Apples and oranges, koach.

I thought someone of your stature would not be so easily confused.

The Celts get the 27 because they had the 4th best record in the league.

The other 1st round picks mentioned (LA/Sac, Clips, Memphis) are the rewards of shrewd personnel moves, and give the Celts the valuable flexibility for future strategic moves.

The picks could yield 2 top 5 picks over the next 4 years, or be part of a large deal.

In any case, where's your detailed "Knicks will compete in '18 post?

And why the Tatum hate?

Forgetting about the C's for a moment -

I guess those who see Philly in a Finals have Simmons becoming LeBron and Embiid avoiding being Bill Walton.

We shall see

Redick was a beautiful sign for them.  GM there must continue such good work, not just rely on the pups

Maybe they can add Jimmer...

You’re a genius. Keep enlightening us, please.

Issac Bomba & Jarred Vanderbilt need to hop into this draft.

Well, we are in deep into agree to disagree territory on Jax. I see him as the worst option and you see him as the best.

I was intrigued by Blatt's resume but you have a point about the city being a challenge. The Mills connection looms.

I'd be into any of Vogel, Bud or Clifford.

JVG is my fave coach ever, but Carlos is likely to commit a homicide or three of that happens.

Anyone else interested in Stack?

I'm in on Stackhouse Fizdale and  Vogel.  And Jax/JVG as a final resort.

....and he is the iidiot with the BROOM after we won in a first round sweep a while back

Isiah likes Jackson and Kidd.  What a fucking surprise.

He was a rookie right? Give him a break.  Wasn't the only one with the broom iirc

The helicopter shimmy was dumb though. Didn't like that.

I dont think you will need "final resorts".  Guys will be saying YES to this job fairly quickly.

Stackhouse is intriguing.

"Right now"

means knowing what you know right now about the teams in the East what would you predict?

I think the only qualifier I used was (re the Knicks) no major FA signing in '18-19.

But knowing what I know, I liked the current personnel and youth and draft/trade options RIGHT NOW that position both the Celts and 76ers very well for the intermeditate term.

I think the coming rivalry is going to rival the 60s and 80s rivalries.

You can apply as many what ifs as you like, trades, injuries, stars wanting out, etc, but right now, I wouldn't at all be surprised if both the Celts and 76ers won titles over the next 5 years.

would you?

This is quite a bit different than saying they will face each other five years straight in the ECF. That statement was absurd.

Yes, both team have very bright futures. That's as hot a take as saying LeBron is a great player.

More likely one of them wins a chip over the coming five years than both of them. And I think the Celtics need a trade (they've got the pieces to move) to win. That's not a championship frontcourt.

Does a frontcourt of Harford, Morris, and Baynes get them out of the East? Golden state is actually sneaky beef up front and Adams is a load unto himself, but not Houston. Those are the three likely to be coming out of the western side.

If frontcourt is really still so important to winning playoff basketball, then Toronto would have to be the favorite or close to it.

I just boiled down the concept to make it easier to grasp.

It wasn't meant as a hot take, but rather a reasoned take on the probablities of two young and very gifted Atlantic division foes of reaching the finals for several years.

That you think its absurd is fine, but take a look at personnel, and draft capital available, and you might consider the Celts and 76ers are starting to separated themselves from the Eastern pack. And they may have the youth and energy to open a nice lead.

or not.

But it was meant to be a talking point about the teams in the East going forward, as the regular season ended.

In any case, speaking of  the old Celts-76ers rivalry.

RIP Hal Greer.

Greer was the 76ers deadly assassin WBW, with a sure and deadly shot. And a feared but respected foe.

Who made one bad pass.

I can still hear Philly PA, Dave Zinkoff.

Greeeeeeeeeer!!!!

RIP #15

The loss of KI appears to be the killer this year. But its not over yet. The front court is ok, but I'd use Horford, Baynes, Tatum. Next year they get Hayward back and hopefully he's 100%.

Can they win with a 5 of Horford, (Baynes i think he's a FA next year), Tatum, Hayward, KI and Brown?

Celts have a lot of quality 2-3-4 guys and a lot of combos they can present.

Bench: Morris, Smart, Rozier, Theis, Ojeleye

An upgrade at the 5 seems to be the next logical move, and they seem to have the assets to be a bidder if that 5 becomes available.
