My mind can handle a little recoil, so let me take a look at this scenario that so troubles you.
If we were willing to ship that load and if it tickled Ainge in his fancy, we would have these guys available
Walker Mitch
Randle Precious KBD
OG Hart
Bridges Dante Deuce
Brunson Payne Kolek
Toppin McCullar Hukporti
I think it is not much of a stretch that Kessler Walker with our recent level of coaching and training can reasonably approach the contribution we got from Hartenstein, at least defensively. And he does fine feeding on scraps.
If we are seeing Dadiet as a future power forward there is room for him to move forward and earn a role as all three guys currently at the position are in ending or nebulous contract states.
We have two years, all of the guaranteed time for Dadiet, of OG, Bridges, Hart and Donte at the wings, so if we see Dadiet as a future wing with however much potential he is expendable in the context of the Novacore -OG window in comparison with a piece that brings us a lot closer to our peak through positional value at the outset of our window.
It would be a case of absolutely doubling down on the strategy we have pursued since clearing money to sign Brunson. I think the unlikely timing of having so many guys on the same timeline with existing chemistry means we would regret not parting with some future talent to bring us back up to parameters at our thinnest position.
Clearly Kessler Walker is much better at doing the things we will ask centers to do than Sims is, at least on paper and on film so far.
