When I was a boy, the moon was pearl the sun a yellow gold
When I was a man, the wind blew cold the hills were upside down
But now that I have gone from here there's no place I'd rather be
Than to float my chances on the tide Back in the good old world

Nyets grab Tyler Zeller. Pels finalizing a 1year deal with Tony Allen.

Allen is a better version of Hill & will just absorb those minutes.

Tyler is betting he can jump ahead of Mozgov in Brooklyn.

Allen is a better version of Hill & will just absorb those minutes.

Two problems:
- Tony Allen is 35 and turns 36 mid-season.
- Sol Hill is an F and can bang some.  NOP really needs a backup SF/PF.

They better hope Diallo Is ready.
Seems like a rather mish-mash team to me.
Going to be hard to pull it together, while Jrue & Rondo aren't the most durable.

Othersowise, I don't know much about Uber and how it works.
A few years ago, I was surprised when a girl left my place at around 1:AM and just got in somebody's car, an Uber driver.  Hardly seemed safe to me.   Also driving a cab in NYC at night doesn't seem safe to me either.  Since then in China a Chinese company bought out Uber.  I didn't follow that, but I think the gov't let Uber know they'd face a lot of hassles and regs -- which the Chinese company won't have to deal with.  I got the impression Uber was more squeezed out than sold out willingly.  Or maybe I've got it wrong.

I never was interested in online shopping or ride hailing.
Until this year, when I started buying Mostly I buy cat food on Taobao (the Chinese answer to Amazon).  I feed 8 garden cats and my two indoors, so now I buy 10kg bags of dried food and cases of canned cat food.  For the dry food, I'm paying 1/2 of what I did at the pet market.  (and nearly 1/4 of what the store prices were when I used to buy 1.5 kg bags).  Cans are 60% of what the pet market charges.  So significantly lower prices and it gets delivered to my door for no extra charge.  They even throw in some free samples gratis.

. . .  maybe I should download the (no longer) Uber app ...

An article about non-prime Melo.

One positive factoid: If Melo averages 20 Pts per game this season, he'll join Kareem and Jordan as the only players to average 20 or more points in their first 15 seasons.  Of course, LeBJ is also prepping to join that club this year.

Wilt, Shaq and Iverson all did it 14 straight years.  Maybe some others as well.

Not a lot of guys even have 15 year careers, especially back when they'd join the NBA at 22.  Players come in younger now, but that makes it hard to score 20+ in your rookie season.

So.....Melo will actually be playing for the Knicks, no?

Are we ready to accept that reality?

Because I'm glad we didn't send him off for a bag of beans, and I'm super intrigued by the possibility (remote or not) of the Knicks confounding and defying those saying they're dead on arrival.

In the eastern conference, hope springs eternal.

I repeat -

Melo plays -

Knicks go out to about a 14-8 start.......

Then after a swoon we sit at 24-24 - and we see what we are made of.

Actually, Brother Nagel, many of the most acerbic fusillades of Katyusha Rockets I launch in your general direction are also jokes, or if not strictly speaking, jokes...what is the Yiddish word...zingers...spritzers...pissgasm......sarcasm...Don Rickles...

So...not to worry...it's a two-way street.

We cool.
