Caught last 5 mins of MEMf-Clips.
Good to see the young Griz hold off the vet Clips.
PG13 was a one-man wrecking crew.  Finished with 41.
But he kicked to a totally open Marcus Morris to cut the lead to I think 2 late, and the shot rimmed out.  Other end, Ja drew attention and kicked to Jaren Jax who canned a clinching 3.

Morant is special.
Bane is real solid.  Made two key outside shots late, including a tough baseline J to rescue a nowhere possession.  Even guarded PG here and there.
Griz starters all finished with 17 or more points.  Fairly strong starting unit.
I need to see Melton more, not really familiar with his game.

Bench didn't get much done (4-20 FG), though Brandon Clarke was scrapping for boards.
Get that bench in shape -- Tyus Jones, Kyle Slow-Mo, Brand Clarke, and find one more contributor -- and they can have a pretty good team.

Fending off LAC has to be a nice confidence boost.

Garland-Sexton and 3 Bigs.
Looks like Cavs have found a formula.
Held DEN to 87 points.
If that starting lineup can hold up, then they have a solid bench of Love, Rubio, Okoro, Osman.
Interesting.
Now I need to catch a Cavs game ...

22 for LOVE

Funny how the "where do they play all those bigs" and "how on earth does adding Rubio make sense?" is playing out well - at least through 4 games.

Of course that these progressing young players have TALENT is at the forefront.

Playing NINE,  Can it last?  (May need to add some depth)

Valentine, Wade, Windler as 10th Man.  Those guys can play.
They overpaid Jarrett Allen, drafted another defensive C.  And making it work.
All along they said that they'd play Jarrett and Mobley together.
I liked the Rubio and Markk pickups.  Rubio a savvy vet; Markk with upside and a developing game.

T Ross cooled off a little.  0-7 FG, zero points and 3 turnovers.
Guess MIA played a little D.

Jimmy Butler had a big game, after having a poor 4Q/OT v. IND.

Sadly, free NBA League Pass is ending

Got to see some good ball this past week, teams I wouldnt normally get to see much.  Included rookies Green, Barnes, Giddey, Duarte etc....

Lakers OT win last night was special.  Team will be tough to beat.

Except when they are up 26 v. OKC.
How many games will AD and LeBJ miss.
Westbrook always in danger of keeping both teams in a game.

Walton continues with his small ball approach.
Vs UTA, 6'9" Holmes plays C with Len as backup (33/15 mins)
Just an 8 man rotation with the remaining sextet all wings and G's.

Bagley, Tristan and TDavis all DNP's.
Might have worked if Fox didn't have such an empty game.  4-15 FG; didn't score in the 1st half.  Looked distracted.  Game was tied with 4 mins left.
Conley & Donovan both topped 30.

So they played Utah tough.

Cool.

Dont agree with the Bagley usage.  But if the Kings make the playoffs, I will shut up

SAC not going anywhere, so why not play Bagley, up his value and then trade him.  Instead of killing his value?  But Luke must feel his seat heating up and needs W's.

I've been proposing Fox & Bagley for Simmons.
Fox - Hield - Bagley are a poor defensive grouping.
Can't put all the blame on Bags.
This season they wilt down the stretch and can't get stops and lose close games.

Simmons - TyH - Hield - Barnes - Holmes
A much better team.  3 shooters around Simmons.  See if Hield can contribute to winning.
Dav Mitchell - Ter Davis - MoHark - Metu - Tristan/Len

Love watching TyH.
13 / 4 / 5.5 for the season.  His 3-point shooting has been off.  But he makes up for it with 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks.  And just nice court awareness.  Plays passing lanes, makes good switches, keeps the ball moving.  A real connectivity player.

Sacto blew out CHA by 30 and Bags didn't get off the pine.  Yikes.
Hield 8-17 on 3's.  17 3Pt FGA's.  Sometimes Hield's #'s feel inflated.  Need to do it in close games where he's stumbled lately.  But 8-17 on 3's is kinda crazy.

Early on, but Fox is 39% FG and 18% on 3's.  Wonder of that extra weight and bulk messed up his form/lift.  Or other things going on.  But SACto doing well to be 5-4 while Fox sports an 11.1 PER (and Bags DNP's).

For CHA, PLumlee was 1-5 FT and fouled out in 22 mins.  Did have 4 assists.  But that's a rough night.  Guess he wasn't prepared for small ball.

Cavs beat the Raps to go to 6-4.
After losing their first two games and giving up tons of points, their D has been stingy.
Held Hawks, Nugs, Clips under 95.  First two held under 90.  Quality W's.
That was an impressive 3-game win streak.
6-2 in last 8, only losing to Lakes and Suns.
Then another 3 game W'streak beating POR, TOR & CHA.

And Cavs are our next opponent.
They are a go-Big team. With small G's.
You'd think Knix would want to spread the floor and make their Bigs guard outside.
A game Knix will need to hit 3's.  Look forward to seeing Mobley.

Love and Markkanen are both CV-casualties.  Which cuts down on their outside shooting (good opp for Osman) and makes them thin at the Bigs if foul trouble.  Knix should test Mobley and try to tag fouls on him.  A job for Julius.  School the rook.
Okoro missed the Rap game with a hammy.

Scouting the Cavs.
Just from their 2nd half comeback v. TOR.

Mobley is a talented cat.  Even with 3 point range.  Has a nice baseline turnaround J.
Sexton dies on screens.  Garland can get lost.

One play Trent faked going towards a screen and instead cut back door as Garland went under the screen and looked for Trent at the 3 point line.  A Big tried to rifle a pass to Trent alone underneath, but it got batted away by Jarrett Allen.  You'd think that'd give Garland time to recover.  Scottie Barnes scoops up the loose ball and fires a pass to Trent still alone underneath, while Garland spins around still looking for Trent outside.  Comical.
Embarrassing.

GarLand & Sextant combined for 7 Turns and 10 assists.
Have Fournier (and Rose) run around screens. Put Kemba in PnR's.  The Cavs small G's will get confused or lost or just mismatched.  Good opp for Fournier to shoot over shrimps, and RJB bully them too.  Use Randle in PnR's to get a midge PG on him, forcing a double.
PnR's, screens, player movement.

Lamar Stevens plays hard.
Oz Man can shoot.
Rubio is crafty.

Cavs prone to give up o-boards.  Jar Allen and Mobley don't box out.
Khem Birch had 7 O-boards! (and just 1 def board).  Scot Barnes had 6.
Knix killed MIL on the O-boards.
Be ready to do the same v. CLE.  Get those extra posessions.
