A series of statements will be presented about a mystery player.  Try to answer in as few clues as possible.

0-1 Guesses: You are an NBA Savant
2-4 Guesses: Experts consider you an expert
5-7 Guesses: You know more about the NBA than the other 99%

Here are your first four clues

1. I played 14 seasons in the NBA despite being an afterthought to the team that selected me with the final pick in the 2nd round
2. Aside from my original team that drafted me I also played for three other teams; Vancouver, Cleveland and Orlando
3. I share the name of a US President
4. Averaging 14 points and 3 assists per game for my career i'm by far the best player from my college, University of Tennessee at Chatanooga

Nets v. Pistons
Both teams started off 0-5 FG.
It was 2-1 after 3 minutes.

Tangelo 1-7 in the 1Q.
Looks disinterested.

DET has looked bad both games I saw them.
Blake running into double teams and losing the ball.
Pachulia leading DET in scoring after 1Q.

The NETS should move to Seattle.

That's harsh.
Seattleans can just drive to Portland for an NBA game.
Where can Brooklynites go?

Nets gave up a winnable game v. Rockettes.
BKY had been attacking Melo in switches for profit.
Then stopped doing that in the 4Q when he had 4 fouls.
Odd.  HOU was shorthanded and Melo is a weak defender.
Also tangelo sat out the entire 4Q and the Nets offense stagnated badly the last 5 mins.  Not sure if there was a reason for that, but they could have used a creator and just a different combination of players out there.

CP3 got into his ultra-competitive mode and made plays good and bad.
Enough good to W it up.

So that was Gerald Wilkins, oui?

Malik Monk 7-45 FG  (15%) his last 5 games, including 2-26 on 3's (8%).  Bringing his shooting %'s below his rook season failures.
And basically that's all Monk does is shoot.

His splits are highly divergent:
Home 8 games 20.6 mins  4.6-10.5 FG  44.0% [on 3's] 2.1-5.6 37.8%
Road  8 games 22.3 mins  2.9-11.0 FG  26.1%  [on 3's] 1.3-6.1 20.4%

So his Home shooting is slightly above average, while his Road shooting is abysmal.

NBA lifestyle to blame?
Tues-Thurs he's shot fairly well, Fri-Mon he's been bad.
Could just be stat noise, or this guy is partying too much on the Road and weekends.  Not easy having a $3M million dollar salary and being 20 years old.

Quick googling:
Feb 20, 2018:
Quote
Monk was driving near the University of Arkansas around 5:46 AM when his red 2002 Lexus ran off the road and crashed into a gate.
University police responded and cited the 20-year-old for careless driving and no proof of insurance.

Unlikely he was just up real early going to a morning workout.
He was also set to check into a pre-season game but discovered he didn't have a jersey on under his warmups.
A stoner?  Knucklehead?   JEarl Smith type?

Probably not.

If I was to finger point I'd choose a few someone elsee before KI.

the Celts aren't hitting their 3s, and since they take a lot of them, it kind of kills the offense,

They may want to play a little more aggresively, make the next pass, drive to the basket, and try to draw fouls. (they are 2nd worse at getting to the line).

I suspect they'll get out of this O-funk.

It seems everyone is playing worse this year -- Horford, Jaylen, Tatum, Rozier.  They looked hungrier and played harder and with more energy without Kyrie.  More team play.  Better D too with Smart and Rozier at the point.

If you need a bucket in the last minute or two, I want Kyrie on my team.  Otherwise, he's up and down, weak on D, and more Me than Team, imo.  Not a fave of mine.

And yes, they do have enough talent that they should turn things around.  But they need playoff success more than regular season.
I'd be working on getting Horford in the flow on both ends.  When he's on, it's make them much tougher.

The biggest fall-off has been Brown and Rozier. And Horford's outside shot is missing, but he generally plays hard.

I mostly thinkits a rotational thing, figuring outs minutes, AND guys are settling for quick 3s. And they're missing. (Brown has been brutal)

But they do play pretty good team D, but have been burned by some out unworldly shooting, last night it was Walker who went off in the 4th qtr.

I don't get upset at that.

i get pissed at no effort and lazy ball.

I'd like to see them get more pro-active, drive to the hoop, and get to the line.
