Was Ben Wallace a 6th man under 10?

Harden over 20?

x  Harden was 6th Man once with a 16.8 PPG average

x  Ben Wallace never was a 6th Man winner

Okay, I got one.

The 6th Man of the Year was instituted for the '82-'83 season.

Since then only 3 players have won 6th Man with an average of 20+ Pts/game.
And only 3 players have won 6th Man honors with an average below 10 Pts/game.
Both are impressive.

Name those 6th bench greats.

Bonus:  Who is the only player to win 6th Man while playing under 20 mins/game?

Give me the bonus.

Just checked my recollection with the google machine, Bill "What a long strange trip its been" Walton won the 6th man award in '85-86 with the Celts playing just under 20 mpg and scoring under 8 ppg.

Bill Walton fewest minutes (19.6) and Points (7.6) for a 6th Man winner.  When he was on the Celts of course.

20+ Pts per game
1.
2. Lou Williams  22.6
3.

<10  PPG
1. Bill Walton  7.6
2.
3.

Under 10?
Detlef Shrempf

16.1 & 17.3 in his two 6th man campaigns.
Guy put the ball in the basket.

You need to think defenders.

Quote
Over 20?
Eric Gordon

16.2

The two other 20+ 6th Men go back a ways.
Classic bench scorers of their day.

Andrew Toney, Michael Cooper?

Right type of player, but neither won the award.

Some hints:
1) Of the under 10 point 6th Men, one was a Knick when he won.

2) the other sub-10 Pt 6th Man was a teammate of one of your two above guesses.
______________________________

3) Of the 20+ scorers, one won the 6th Man award twice.
Was considered the classic 6th man scorer of his day.  Late 80's.

4) The other 20+ 6th Man writes a column for Hoopshype now and then.

New Bonus Q

3 Knix won 6th Man of the Year.
And one ex-Knick.
Who was they?

(3) Ricky Pierce and (4) Eddie Johnson were the scorers, thanks for the hints

1) Anthony Mason, of course 2) Kurt Rambis? Mychal Thompson? Bobby Jones? Mo Cheeks? I really have no idea.

Bonus is a bit easier: Starks, Mason, Earl plus Crawford

Well, thanks for reviving the question.
Correct on the Knix.

20+ 6th Men:

1989-90  Ricky Pierce    MIL  23.0 Pts
2017-18  Lou Williams   LAC  22.6
1988-89  Eddie Johnson PHO 21.5

Although it's kind of line drawing, as McHale averaged 19.8; Terry 19.6; Manu & Pierce again 19.5. At least all 3 top scorers were above 21 PPG, and didn't just skim over 20.

Ricky Pierce scored nearly 15K Points in his career, while coming off the bench over 70% of the time.  Pretty impressive.

As for low-scoring 6th Men, Bobby Jones was the final one.
Another classic 6th Man.

The list of lowest scoring 6th men Winners:

1994-95  Anthony Mason  NYK  9.9
1982-83  Bobby Jones  PHI  9.0
1985-86  Bill Walton    BOS  7.6

Next lowest scoring winner was another '6er Aaron Mckie (11.9 Pts)
Bill Walton's mere 7.6 is pretty amazing.  Walton was a hair under 20 mpg.  While most of these 6th Men winners averaged around 30 mins per.

Here's a link to the full sortable list: https://www.basketball-reference.com/awards/smoy.html

Fun to recall such names as Darrell Armstrong; Roy Tarpley, Dell Curry, Bobby Jackson, Danny Manning, etc.  I remember that one year when Rodney Rogers was just killing it.
