https://www.nba.com/article/2020/03/07/coronavirus-lebron-wont-play-empty-arenas

LeBron says he won't do it.

Lakers could save a ton of money to make up for the lack of fans!

Gee, my guess (in the Knix forum) that it was Kyrie's doing seems to have backup:
Quote
Irving soured on Atkinson early, league sources told Yahoo Sports, and currently prefers Clippers assistant Tyronn Lue to be the team’s next head coach. Lue was the head coach in Cleveland when Irving hit the winning shot in the 2016 NBA Finals and was in talks to take the Lakers job before discussions broke down.

Kyrie managed a 20 game season, was pouty, the Nets frequently played best without him, and he likely got his coach fired.  Terrific.

And BOS improved greatly without him.  Tatum and Jaylen's trajectory back on track.  Glad we aren't saddled with those two star gimps (KI & KD).

Caught the 1st half of DET v. UTA, wondering who plays for the Pistons since they waived nearly their whole starting lineup (Drummond, RegJax, Morris).

Well, Christian Wood has been killing it.
7 post-AS games, 23, 10 & 2 on 53%FG  3.4 O-boards.
Last 14 games (Feb & Mar): 21, 9+ and 37% on 3's.
10 games as a starter: 21, 10 & 2.  53% - 38% - 76%

Otherwise DET has guys named Mykhailiuk and Doumbouya.
At least one bright spot for Pistoff basketball.
Don't think I've ever seen a team jettison their 3 best players for nothing before in one season

Really, RegJax - Kennard - Morris - Blake - Drummond looks like a formidable team.
Unfortunately most of them were injured or underperformed or both.
Bench: Rose - Myjhailluk - Snell - Wood - Maker
With health that's a solid playoff team and over .500.
Of course, Jax, Blake and Rose have well-documented injury histories.

Love it when formerly non descript guys get minutes and produce.

DET did get something for Drummond, I think.

Not really.

Traded by the Detroit Pistons to the Cleveland Cavaliers for John Henson, Brandon Knight and a 2023 2nd round draft pick. (2023 second-round pick is the least favorable of CLE's and GSW's 2023 second-round picks)

They have both - Knight and Henson - been quite good for DET - and will make a lesser salary for next year if kept

An embarrassing trade.
Knick-like in fact.

It begins . . .

Quote
The Golden State Warriors will play Thursday's game against the Brooklyn Nets without fans in attendance in accordance with San Francisco's ban on gatherings of 1,000 people or more to combat the spread of the coronavirus

And ends.

The NBA cancelled the remainder of their season.

Not quite.

"The NBA is suspending game play following the conclusion of Wednesday's schedule of games until further notice.  The NBA will use this hiatus to determine next steps for moving forward in regard to the coronavirus pandemic."

With one player having tested positive, I suspect their intermediate path is now going to be tough to manage. I suppose they could find another intermediate path, but I don't know what it would be.

Right. They haven't canceled the remainder of the season. Yet.

They should do a 15-30 day quarantine.
Then begin the playoffs to empty arenas.

First China cancels its contract with the NBA and stops showing games on TV just before the season starts.  Then China has an infectious disease that travels the globe.  Causing the NBA to stop playing.  Connect the dots people!
