Mark Eaton

Correct!

Eaton was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in the 1979 NBA draft with the 107th pick in the 5th round. He was eligible to be drafted because he was already four years out of high school in 1979. However, he opted to return to college basketball.

Well that's Mark Eaton.

Well, he don't like the young folks I know. He told me one night on his radio show. He's got him a medal he won in the war. It weighs five-hundred pounds and it sleeps on his floor.

Well that's Mark Eaton.

Correct!

Larry Farmer was the head coach of UCLA from 1981 to 1984, guiding them to a 6123 (.726) record. He had recruited Earvin "Magic" Johnson to come play at UCLA, but then told Johnson to hold off on a visit as he was more interested in Albert King.[20] Neither played for UCLA.

Hint #3 gave me a few names to toy with.
#6 gave me the answer.

Not too many folks average 3.5 blocks per.
Actually no one but Eaton.

Okay, I got one.

The 6th Man of the Year was instituted for the '82-'83 season.

Since then only 3 players have won 6th Man with an average of 20+ Pts/game.
And only 3 players have won 6th Man honors with an average below 10 Pts/game.
Both are impressive.

Name those 6th bench greats.

Bonus:  Who is the only player to win 6th Man while playing under 20 mins/game?

Hard to believe, but coming out of high school Albert King was more highly rated than Magic (as was Gene Banks).  That was a really good high school class.  Not only those 3 guys but Jeff Ruland (a far, far better player than people seem to remember), Jeff Lamp (a great college player), Darnell Valentine, Al Wood, Kelly Tripucka and a bunch more.

1. LouW had 22.6 PPG last year when he won 6-Man

x Jamal topped out at 18.6 PPG in his 3 Awards.

xx RodMan & Ak47 never won 6th Man.
They both started a lot after a few early seasons.

Give me the bonus.

Just checked my recollection with the google machine, Bill "What a long strange trip its been" Walton won the 6th man award in '85-86 with the Celts playing just under 20 mpg and scoring under 8 ppg.

Bill Walton fewest minutes (19.6) and Points (7.6) for a 6th Man winner.  When he was on the Celts of course.

20+ Pts per game
1.
2. Lou Williams  22.6
3.

<10  PPG
1. Bill Walton  7.6
2.
3.
