We have satellites now that can tell us where our natural resources are. My Mother worked for a company named Sverdrup, out in the desert, and they built a satellite to tell us where the natural resources are. It is awesome technology.

Finding Gold in the old days was hard, but now we can use satellites to tell us where to look for Gold, etc.

And of course we can use Gold for a lot of things, we use to it save world economies, etc. When Turkey was going broke overnight way back in about 2000, the World Bank and the IMF stepped in and they backed Turkey's currency with Gold, and they saved the people of Turkey from going into poverty overnight. We can use Gold to save world economies from collapsing, etc.

That one raised a question.
The HOA had conflicting opinions about the safety status of its buildings. One was a detailed report by a professional engineering firm pointing out structural problems. The other was an opinion by a city official that the building was “ in good shape”. It appears the HOA board did not pursue the engineering firm’s concern.

No repairs were required in this instance.
There were findings of problems that the HOA did not act on.

Wrong. Every condominium owner is a member of th HOA. The Board is member-elected. The Board’s fiduciary interest includes preparing a budget with a line item of Emergency Repairs.
If a condo owner is “ unaware” of this then he or she is stupid.

Developers envision and build and turn over the property to the owners.
The owners then manage and prepare for wear and tear.

Yep.   In terms of avoiding speculation,  and just sticking with what's public record,  I posted this news excerpt earlier today (and see no sign Kid read it, even after he expressed a desire for specifics)....


  Rosendo Prieto, the Surfside building official at the time, told the building's condo association at a November 2018 meeting that the tower was in "very good shape," NPR reported Sunday, citing minutes from the meeting that it obtained.
Two days before the meeting, Mara Chouela, a member of the condo board, forwarded a copy of a structural engineer's report to Prieto that warned of "major structural damage," according to an email released by the town on Saturday.
"Structural engineer report was reviewed by Mr. Prieto," the minutes cited by NPR said, in an apparent reference to a 2018 report from structural engineer Frank Morabito, which detailed cracking and dilapidating concrete in the parking garage underneath the tower, among other significant issues. "It appears the building is in very good shape," the minutes noted, according to NPR...   

It appears the HOA were guided by Prieto's grossly inaccurate summary of the structural engineering report.
