Jake Tapper (CNN) on Biden sending 5000 US Troops back to Afghanistan

“That is, of course, a sharp turn-around from six weeks ago when President Biden called it highly unlikely that the Taliban would overrun the country, an assessment that even at the time struck many experts in Biden’s own administration as unrealistic. And now, as American diplomats rush to shred embassy documents and escape, it seems shocking that President Biden could have been so wrong.

As noted on here earlier, in his views on US Foreign Policy over 40 some years Biden is always wrong.

Chris Wallace (FOXNC) to Pompeo:

“Do you regret inviting the Taliban tomCamp David and cutting the Afghanistan government out of the negotiations with the Taliban?

Pompeo:

“Hominah hominah hominah....”
https://www.thedailybeast.com/chris-wallace-confronts-mike-pompeo-asks-do-you-regret-giving-taliban-legitimacy

Pompeo is a duplicitous piece of shit testing the presidential waters and trying to stick the quagmire of two decades of a foreign policy disaster and national disaster, born in the Bush admin on Joe. We are in a no-win situation and mistakes were made in the exit, and one that Trump and Pompeo negotiated for, but hoping Taliban would play nice as we left is a fucking pipe-dream. They're 7th Century freedom fighters fighting on home turf, fighting for their land, and they don't play by our rules. They rape and torture for shit and giggles.

And Repubs, the fascist liars, are going to try like hell to hang the failed Bush-to-Obama-to-Trump years, 20 years of war, death huge financial cost, and the final retreat, on Biden and his Muslim mentor Obama.

Yep.   Trump admin handed Biden a sloppy mess of statecraft.

Airing a clip of Pompeo last year saying the Taliban would “work alongside us to destroy” Al Qaeda, Wallace pointedly asked the former secretary: “Do you regret giving the Taliban that legitimacy? Do you regret pressing the Afghan government to release 5,000 prisoners, which they did, some of whom are now back on the battlefield fighting with the Taliban?”

Rex Tillerson's famous epithet should have been lobbed over the entire administration.

Bambu, tell the leaders of Australia to strengthen ties with Spain, and with Italy and the Vatican, and with the Philippines, and with Latin America, and with France.

Also, young men from Australia should be welcome to join the French Foreign Legion, along with the Latin Americans and people from the Philippines, etc.

We can choose to be LEADERS instead of being victims.

The people of Afghanistan need leaders who can lead them to peace and prosperity and good human rights, and good women's rights.

Afghanistan also needs freedom of religion, and they need to have Catholic churches.

If the Taliban can just walk in and take over, then so can we.

We can turn Afghanistan into a charming little farming community where Christians are welcome. Everyone wants peace and prosperity, and everyone wants a good life for their children.

We are at peace with the Russians, and we can be at peace with the Muslims as well.

We can be leaders, and we can have peace on our terms.

Civilization and good human rights must win.

Salute,

Tony V.

Tony is a crusader!

And sees Afghanistan under the kind tutelage of the Vatican and invaders turn into a new Tuscany.

Tony's been smoking crack again.

Poor women of Afghanistan, back to the dark ages!

The single most likely outcome as soon as we stuck our nose in Iraq.

Think Tony is a kind soul who has great sympathy for the disadvantaged and downtrodden...who wants world peace and harmony among all nations and all people.
Very noble ambitions.
Crusading is noble too, problem is...it's difficult enough to get Americans of today to embrace Christianity, let alone get anyone in the Muslim world to embrace it, especially the Muslim Taliban, who are reportedly turning girls as young as 12 into sex slaves on their march to power.
Most Americans of today can't even seem to bring themselves to say "Christmas tree".

Why is Biden on Vacation ?

Why do calls to Jen Psaki get a recorded message that her office is closed all this week?

The single most likely outcome as soon as we stuck our nose in Iraq.

It was pretty likely before that.

But while about 170k people have died in Afghanistan (soldiers, contractors, and civilians), I would guess our presence their to now has saved more lives than it cost with their 50% in infant mortality over the 20 years we have been there.

This is likely to now be reversed, but perhaps slowly enough for their people to rebel of find other ways to slow the decline.

The “country” is a bunch of provinces each with their own separate issues/interests and a “don’t give a fuck” central government that is thoroughly corrupt.

Once Hall burton lied us into Iraq the die was cast. In the moment when we could have  reduced the Taliban influence to nil... we let them go. Just as we let OBL escape at Tora Bora.

The only winners have been the “defense contractors”

A quick comparison of vacations among presidents makes it clear that Ward's unable to be anything but partisan.

It's like his fake virtue posting about Afghanistan. Or children. Or Blacks. Or teachers. Or anything.

He cares about nothing but lower taxes for the wealthy and control over women and non-whites and scoring what he thinks are points.

I’ve said the very same thing many times, just in slightly less collegial terms.

Red is a festering sack of scum. Judging by how he leaks here, he makes a right mess of it everywhere he goes.

Republicans don’t work. They excrete crimes.

That’s why they have no clue what President Joe Biden is doing or why.
